More Dead or Alive 5 Bikini Footage Featuring Ayane And Kasumi Vs. Hitomi

By Ishaan . July 28, 2012 . 4:30pm

Yesterday, Tecmo Koei released footage of Kasumi, Hitomi and Leifang sparring in their bunny swimwear costumes in Dead or Alive 5. At the same time, Tecmo Koei in Japan released a slightly different video—Kasumi, Ayane and Hitomi, with Kasumi and Ayane teaming up to take on the latter. Watch it below:

Dead or Alive 5 will be released on September 25th in North America. The game’s collector’s edition will include swimsuit costumes for every female character.

I still stand that those aren’t bunny outfits, they’re just Bikini’s with a bunny tail and ears thrown in.

       Bunny Bikini. Happy?

      • Darkrise

What you just said is blasphemy.

      • xavier axol

what we need are bunny thongs!! fortget the bikinis, it doesn’t show enough skin.

    • raymk

They aren’t real bunny outfits, real ones are actually hard to find in games in general.  The last game I saw one in was blackrock shooter and Dragon quest 9.

i love love the DOA girls :3

  • ResidentMetroid

Zack is still creepy as ever

    • Testsubject909

Watch him win the tournament and use his money to get another Zack Island and start up DOAX3.

      • Christopher Nunes

You think the girls will fall for it a third time? Heck, I think even Hitomi (she was the one who believe the hoax to be the DOA tournament, right?) wouldn’t fall for it a third time.

        • Testsubject909

They fell for it a second time.

          So why not?

          • Christopher Nunes

Only Hitomi, IIRC, but everyone still came regardless. I think Kasumi it was that her brother was on the island (which he wasn’t), or was that the first time?

why is there only one black guy who dresses horrible? dead or alive needs more diverse characters, next time they make a game i hope to see a fuckin robot..

    • Tom_Phoenix

“dead or alive needs more diverse characters, next time they make a game i hope to see a fuckin robot..”

What’s the point? They’ll just make a regular female model and call her a female android. Just like Lamia Loveless:

Or, if they’re really “creative”, they’ll make something like KOS-MOS:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQAFxgVpQuw

In the end, they would still do the same things with her as they are doing with their human female characters.

    • Suicunesol

Well, they have a demon or two, and a bioelectric ghost girl…

I think Dead or Alive is slightly more down to Earth, save for those examples.

    • Guest

Well I’d rather LESS stereotypical minorities in Japanese video games…

      Wall of text time :(

Not that diversity isn’t needed, but DoA needs less stiff looking and more vibrant personalities (and not the ‘weird’ kind of vibrant like Zack).

To elaborate, notice how fighters from other games aren’t as “stiff” when they do their poses and mannerisms. They give off their personality even from the way the throw a punch; IMO, that one small thing can make a character more likeable. Capcom were the absolute best at doing this in the 90′s; you knew who everyone was just from they way they would move. SFA, SF3, DS, MvC, there was so much personality in their movements, from poses to punches. One could argue that the best versions of the SNK characters (until KoF XIII) were in Capcom’s CvS series, and even then, some people still prefer the CvS styled sprites and animations.

I know that I’m comparing 2D sprites to 3D models, but that’s still no excuse for everyone to look so “tight.” Besides, 2D sprites can look every bit as stiff and uninteresting. To further compare, I noticed that Chun-Li and Leifang have similar win poses (we all know who did it first, but I don’t care about that nor is it important). I noticed how the former looks more loose and gives off more expression and emotion in comparison to the latter.

Then the few characters who do shine have other issues. Tina has one of the looser personalities in the series. Her pre-fight intro (in DoA5 at least) is full of energy and vibrancy with how she’s spinning around with her arms up in excitement; you can tell that she’s ready to put on a show ;) Too bad her costumes give off “unfortunate vibes” to put it kindly and it stops people from taking her as seriously (this isn’t necessarily a “flaw”, but it does highlight the likeability issue even further).

In a nutshell, DoA’s characters could really benefit from a more “loose” style of animation. Diversity never hurts, but that won’t solve the problem of the “lack of personality” in the characters.

      • Testsubject909

It could also benefit from different special bikinis.

The bunny bikini for example was originally just for Kasumi, while all the other girls had their own animal themes. It helped to give some sort of parallel to their personality and animal counterparts and gave them a bit more uniqueness.

  • Nitraion

Hmm This trailer is more appealing…. ^^

  • Herok♞

I love how many great fighting games are still coming out this year and the dud is already out the way and forgoten so 2012 is the year of the fighters.

  • Suicunesol

I don’t know about you guys, but I think bunny ears look silly. :I

I would have preferred a more creative skimpy costume (and ones that were unique to each character, too).

    • raymk

Yes I agree,if they are going to give us skimpy costumes give us more creative one’s.  I don’t even like swimsuits costumes all that much anyway.

    • Testsubject909

They had tons to choose from DOAX2 too…

  • Guest

passing on these swimsuits. Honestly they look lame and unoriginal and uninspired.

After having played both DOAXBV and DOAX2.

      Yeah.

It feels like a step backwards in terms of bikinis in DOA.

edit: And I don’t just mean the amount, i just mean the personality behind it. At least DOAXBV and X2 had the kindness to give each girl their own animal themed bikinis. Here? They’re all bagged in together in the same generic animal bikini which in no way helps to differentiate them from one another.

  • Visa Vang

I’m only getting this for Hitomi.

    • Testsubject909

      You’re okay in my book.

But as a fellow Hitomi fan. She still feels off in this doesn’t she?

I mean, there are more then a few angles where she just doesn’t seem… like herself… it’s hard for me to put into words without starting to sound offensive about things.

      • Christopher Nunes

I understand what you mean my friend. Hitomi is among my favorite DOA characters, but she does come off… not herself (honestly, helluva lot better than when they first originally showed her in the first few trailers).

Still I’m getting this, the Collector’s Edition, but I do feel like $60 is a highway robbery! Why can’t all games be $50 at most nowadays? I know technology has advanced and they need more manpower and money, but back in the day $50 was a reasonable price for console games.

      • xavier axol

is it because she’s lacking in the boob or butt department? or could it be her face or thighs? she alright with me, my only problem is that i still can’t decide between hitomi or ayane. hitomi is hot!! but there’s something about ayane that i just can’t looked away, they’re both charming. :-)

        • Testsubject909

face and body in general I think. It’s what’s currently bothering me somewhere in the back of my head… I’d watch it a few more times to pinpoint exactly what, but I’d rather not.

          • xavier axol

well…i would like for hitomi and ayane to have (more junk in the trunk), but other people will find that offensive.

      • Tee Niitris

        I don’t think it’s a “body” thing.

Maybe it’s the lack of costumes. I always liked Hitomi’s denim/western styled taste in clothing, which she’s always had several of. However, she doesn’t have many of those (yet) in this one; only “two” costumes that’s like such (one with and without the jacket). I don’t know, but it makes her look a bit less interesting imo.

Also, she seems slightly less serious and a bit more “childlike.” A shame for sure; Hitomi is my fav DoA girl too. :(

        • Testsubject909

Something about the face, proportions of head to body and a few other things that just nagged at me in the videos where you see her with the camera swinging everywhere.

The older models had their own problems too (I don’t really care for feet but yeash, never liked seeing the feet of the older models), but here… Something’s missing. There’s just that bit of Hitomi’s natural charm that just feels lost in translation to these newer models…

  • neetyneety

Honestly, I would have just preferred regular swimsuits, as opposed to those bunny abominations. They just look plain silly for me.

    • Speedo Redempteur

It’s highly probable regular swimsuits are in the game as well

      • Repede91

They are, at least in the CE.

  • Alex Cattaneo

    where the fuck is helena!!!!

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Team Ninja??? U STILL HAVE NO LOVE FOR KOKORO???T_T

  • RaikageV

Wait, “they” aren’t bouncing anymore, right (at least not as much as they should)? Is that what they meant with making it less sexy?!

  • omeganeko

O.k i am officially won over by the new models. (I’m sure it has nothing to do with these bikini videos….)
