By Spencer . August 20, 2012 . 12:32am

Arc System Works planned to release Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this summer, but pushed back the release a couple of months. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus has been rescheduled for October.

The PS3/Xbox 360 version will include online play and at a later date a balance update based on Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R which comes out in arcades in September.

Die hard Guilty Gear fan? Arc System Works partnered with Sanwa to make an official PlayStation 3 arcade stick. This limited edition item costs 15,540 yen ($196) and includes an A3 size poster designed by Daisuke Ishiwatari. Ebten will exclusively release the Guilty Gear stick on September 6.

Finally, I look forward to playing AC+ online. Bacon fo lyfe yo.

  • xAKUM3TSUx

Can’t wait! The Midnight Carnival resounds once again XD

  • Zanetsu

Thank god that they are going to patch in +R after release, would have been dissapointed if that wouldn’t have been the case. So hype for this, the original XX was what got me serious about fighting games.

  • Nine ball. Get.

  • Istillduno

Great that they are patching in +R, would have sucked for the game to be outdated on release.

Also, not grabbing it since I already have a stick, but it’s cool how they partnered up with Sanwa for it, shows they care about how it actualy plays first and foremost since Sanwa parts are known for being good quality. (And they seem to last for ages, subbed them into my Madcatz SE back when BB:CT was still newish and its still working great now)

  • SirTeffy

    Story Mode, please!

  • Mike Pureka

Digital or disc? US or Japan?  Will the game completely suck over the net because you won’t be able to do anything with the degree of precision timing it expects? (Sources says “yes” on that last one.).

    • Nemesis_Dawn

They’ve already said it’s digital in the West. It wouldn’t make any sense to make this a retail release for PS3 and 360.

  • Should I still get vanilla Accent Core on Wii?  It is cheap and I think it could offer enough new stuff when I get around to buying a console for this.  (I know plus is on Wii but it is rare now)

    • Nemesis_Dawn

It would depend on how much you care about story mode. If I recall correctly, Plus added a story mode that Accent Core was completely missing.

    • Historiata

It’s fantastic for a fresh experience in my opinion. In addition to basic controller compatibility, it also has a system that uses controller movements to reflect button presses. It’s difficult to pull off combos, but when you get a nice workout out of it (they even display the number of burnt “accent calories” at the end of it), it provides a new spin on the whole thing and is especially fun when you’re entertaining guests or some such. It has no story mode (but in all seriousness, AC+ is just a tad more than a sound drama ( and without visual novel-esque sprites or understanding of Japanese, a little boring in my opinion. So to sum, yes. It’s great for your 2D fighter fix when you’re not competing and gets you moving too!

  • this is great news!
Will it have blazblue graphics aka updated compared to the ps2 versions?

    • Zanetsu

No. That would take an incredible amount of work and time. I don’t even know if they are throwing in some sort of filter for the sprites.

      • Kris

I personally prefer GG’s sprites to BB’s anyway! XD So much more expressive, to me.

  • Here’s to hoping the stick is common ground. I’d prefer to have that stick work for everything, but I guess PS3/360 is really what matters as far as dual mods for Guilty Gear go. (with AC+R’s release)

    Also may have to somehow import that stick regardless just for the poster. That art itself looks awesome, and if the poster itself is of the same quality as the ABA print from Zen United, well, it’ll be a mightily fine decoration to say the least. ;o;

Last but definitely not least: While I was hoping for a release in time for the local anime convention, I’m definitely glad we’ll be getting GG on our consoles sooner than later. :D Huzzah for a timeframe update!

I’m so glad to hear that it’ll be patched to +R eventually. I’m ready for this game.

This and P4A are going to keep me busy for a very long time. Thank you based ArcSys.

Hang on a second- will this be a store-bought game, or a digital download? Either way I’m happy, been trying to get my hands on this version for AGES.

    • Nemesis_Dawn

      Digital download in the West.

  • Go2hell66

i wish they’d put the blood back in from previous iterations…

  • Historiata

Still in the dark for so long about gg updates, I-no I’d almost had zanuff of  to make me dizzy! I mean, some would axl-low as to pronounce this title dead. It seems there is no justice in the world! Wahaahahaha!

  • Miguel Ángel Pérez López

Normally I wouldn’t buy a game twice, but I’ll make an exception with this one.
But the stick LOOKS AWFUL, for that price you can buy a Street Fighter Tournament Edition stick which is way better. The design is nothing special either.
