By Spencer . September 4, 2012 . 11:46pm

Hiro Mashima, the manga artist behind Fairy Tail and Rave Master, is pumped up after hearing all of the Metal Gear Solid news from last week’s event. He’s so excited he immediately drew Raiden from Metal Gear Rising: Revengance.

Mashima said drawing Raiden was difficult to his fans on Twitter. Check back tomorrow for more impressions of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on Siliconera.

Ahaha. He now looks like someone who could fit in Fairy Tail or Rave Master’s world.

  • Taking two week break from Fairy Tail main story to tell a side story: Draws Raiden

  • Closet_Ninja

well who isn’t excited for the new metal gear?

    • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

If your talking about rising…well then tons of people

  • I hope he’s not gonna start a new manga series that rip off Metal Gear.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Rip-off??? Since Mashima does that lol?

If you are talking about Monster Hunter manga there, Capcom employ him to do the manga lol. Not ripping off. You thought author is not afraid of getting sued here?

Except for Jojo Bizzare Adventure author though.^_^

    • komiko12

Unlikely. Most of his works are in medieval fantasy setting. And many of his works feature magic or similar powers.

      • British_Otaku

He has accommodated references to ninjas and technology in Fairy Tail and the lead himself uses fire to punch, kick and headbutt harder. Haven’t read Rave to know his tendencies for sure but he seems pretty open.

Not that expect him to rip off anything…

  • Souji Tendou

    But that’s MGS4 Raiden Mashima-san. :p

  • Go2hell66

this could be the beginning of an epic crossover…

  • Dokurochan

I’m calling it now: the next dragon slayer to be introduced will be Raiden! :P

    • komiko12

Seriously, there are too much Dragon slayers already. If he is going to use a Raiden-like character, it would be good if he uses a different type of magic or maybe no magic at all.

lol I love Hiro Mashima. He drew a spinoff manga of Monster Hunter, I can see him doing a Metal Gear Solid one.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Coming soon. The Boss that looks like Lucy/Elie lol.^_^

  • that’s strange, this drawing is good while the fairty tail manga is drawn meh

    •  errr sure…for u anyway

    • Palmer Nyako

you realize all artists have some degree of technical skill but decide to have original type of art so they can be noted for it right?

  • Prinnydoom

All i can see is natsu dressed up as raiden >_<

  • Stuart Nisbet

  • They are going to come out with a game called “Metal Gear Fairy Rave” XD

    •  I would buy that. xD

    • Internet is Crash

You start at a guild named “Fox Hound” and your first mission is to infiltrate Fairy Tail.

  • Spirit Macardi

    I don’t know how to react. I love Fairy Tail (and Rave Master), but I loathe Metal Gear x3;

Maybe they could let Mashima direct the next game. He’d replace all the rambling go nowhere cutscenes with awesome and funny moments and tons of over-the-top fun.

    • amagidyne

Sounds like you’ll love Metal Gear Rising, actually.

    •  Yeah try out MGR: Rising. Less cutscenes more over the top fun action.

  • OatMatadoQuatro

“Mashima said drawing Raiden was difficult to his fans on Twitter.”What? Was it hard drawing the Rising Raiden so Mashima had to draw MGS4 Raiden? The fans also drew? I don’t get it.

    • Phrasing is awkward.  Intended reading is:

Mashima told his fans on Twitter that “drawing Raiden was difficult.”

      • OatMatadoQuatro

I see. Guess that’s why he didn’t draw his Rising design which had even more details

  • Sperium3000

I’m suprised Mashima didn’t draw Raiden in a thong or dressed like a sexy cat.

    • OatMatadoQuatro

What? What the *Pictures something* AHHHHHHHHH!!!! MY BRAIN!! MY 8RalN IS D3aD!!!
…*sigh* Knowing Mashima he would also increase the bust of–Eh? N0t 4GaiN!!!

  • Why doesn’t he draw like this in his manga? His art is flat and uninspired in Fairy Tail…

    • Chaos89

Probably because Fairy Tail has deadlines to meet. I mean you can let an artist spend all the time he wants drawing his manga but you’ll end up with those that release once or twice a year, not very profitable.

      • Xekyo

Exactly.  Watching Bakumon helped me realize how much hard work it takes to get serialized and all that mumbo jumbo.  Being a manga artist is serious.

    • PoweredByHentai

Because people tend to b*tch hard about any sudden stylistic changes, especially in an on-going series.

Similarly in video games, look at the Zelda series and the reaction from the various Zelda “fans”.  The transition from Ocarina of Time to Windwaker is one such example.

Or look at the “stylistic” crap that people bring up with each Devil May Cry iteration.

Or how about the stylistic changes that people whine about with the Arland series between Atelier Totori and Meruru and now Atelier Ayesha?

Or how about the transition from 2D sprite images to 3D enemy models in Etrian Odyssey?

You can see where I’m going with this.

Anyway, I just chalk it up to people being morons and hypocrites.

    • J_Joestar

      Well Lucy definitely isn’t flat.

  • ZBaksh386

    looks cool.
