A Flood Of Saint Seiya Omega Screenshots Show Namco’s Next PSP Fighter

By Ishaan . September 18, 2012 . 2:15pm

Saint Seiya Omega: Ultimate Cosmos for the PSP is a ways off from release, but Namco Bandai have released a large batch of screenshots this week to tide people over for a bit. You can find them below.

Saint Seiya Omega plays like a standard fighting game, complete with a Super meter. In the game, this is called a Microcosm Gauge, and it fills up as you attack your opponent. Once it’s full, you can let loose with a Big Bang Attack.

Namco Bandai will release Saint Seiya Omega on November 29th in Japan.

I was a huge SS fan back when I was kid, but have not seen (and will not see, probably) Omega.

What is Julian (Poseidon) doing back? And is that Sorento? Didn’t he die?

    • refrain

Since when did he did in the original? He’s alive and traveling the world with poseidon.

    • Aoshi00

Like refrain said, Julian Solo didn’t die, they just trapped Poseidon’s spirit back in the jar by the end.  And Sorento travels around the world w/ him doing good deeds.  If you have watched the Hades Elysium OVA, Poseidon possessed Julian again for a short while to help Athena and the Saints against Hades during the Greatest Eclipse.

It’s so weird to see Poseidon and Sorento in Omega art style though.. I don’t think they have appeared in the series yet. Nah, you probably shouldn’t bother, Omega is not worth it..

I like Omega more than I liked the Canvas one… Not as good as the old series but it tries to emote nostalgia.

        • Aoshi00

I haven’t seen Lost Canvas or other spinoffs other than the canon manga/anime.. but the Omega art here just too simple (I did like Giant Robo or new Casshern’s retro style though), story doesn’t do it for me either.. the old chars all look so weird in the simpler art style.. I’m not sure many old fans liked Omega at all..

          • Masengan

I guess everyone has their tastes =]. I’m have a “I’ll take anything I can get” kinda mentality. I watched this show(original series) so many times as a kid, one of my faves.

Remember that SS omega is a filler, the true sequel is Saint seiya next dimension

Dammit, PSVita would do so well with a price-cut.

  • Göran Isacson

Huh. Question here as a series noob, but I seem to recall that the original series had no female Saints in it, save for Athena who was some kind of leader, and that they only got introduced in later series. Am I completely wrong in that assumption?

    • Masengan

There was Shaina, and Marin in the original series and also some fish related girl on the Poseidon arc.

      • Haldir Aiacos

Poor Chameleon June got forgetten again :P
She’s probably enjoying the Kido Mansion anyway in Saori’s absent.

As for the Chick from Poseidon Chapter, that’s Mermaid Thetis but she suppose to be dead I think, after saving Julian.

    • LynxAmali

There was Shana (sp?) and Marin, if I recall.
There was also that chick from the Poseidon arc too.

Mind you, I haven’t seen or read the manga in YEARS.
      Caps for emphasis.

    • Felipe De Palma Kind

There should not be female characters, that’s why they use the mask, they have to forget they are women to become saints, men shouls not see their faces, if they do, they should kill or love the man, that’s the rule of the sanctuary

      • Göran Isacson

Ha ha, one would think that there would be two certain other things their armors shouldn’t put such emphasis on if they want to forget about being women… but I’m not the one writing the manga, so what do I know? XD

    • Omar

There were female saints, but wearing a mask because of an order by athena. One of them was supposed to be seiya’s long lost sister, though this was proven wrong at the very end of the hades series.

  • Souji Tendou

What’s with all the girls wearing masks? Looks silly. Sorry, didn’t follow Omega.

    • http://www.falgram.com/ Falmung

Women Saints are required by Athena to wear masks or something like that. They can never show their face but to the man they love. Though the girl from Omega pretty much says “Screw you!” to that rule and stops wearing hers.

      • Souji Tendou

I see, thanks for the explanation.
