Phantasy Star Online 2 Vita Trailer And Smartphone Version Trailer

By Ishaan . September 20, 2012 . 9:30am

Phantasy Star Online 2 has new trailers at the Tokyo Game Show (thanks, 4Gamer), specifically for the PlayStation Vita and smartphone versions of the game. As previously reported, the Vita version will be cross-compatible with the PC version for multiplayer and character data storage. Watch the trailer for it above.

Details from mention that the PlayStation Vita version will allow you to chat via an on-screen keyboard. You’ll also be able to use the touch screen for item selection. Phantasy Star Online 2 will be released for the Vita in Spring 2013; and yes, in case you were going to ask, it’s online-only like the PC version.

Meanwhile, the smartphone version of the game, titled Phantasy Star Online 2 es, is being built for iPhone and Android phones. This version of the game won’t be able to play with the PC and Vita versions, but will be able to interact with them in some other manner connected to your character data. Trailer above.

  • I wonder if I’m the only one who feels like we’re getting towards how The World gets to be played in .hack.

In that literally everything could get you online and into the game, even if you’re sitting in a hospital waiting room.

    • William Trengove

I think that’s the ultimate MMO player’s fantasy…cause it would be awesome indeed

    •  until skeith and pals comes along and goes data drain happy one everyone ^^

    • XypherCode

      That’ll be cool actually :)

  • XypherCode

Looks great! I hope there’ll be a Vita version announced for the west soon. :P

After watching these trailers and all these monster action, they’re kinda similar to E.X. Troopers and Monster Hunter. :)

  • This is going to sell some systems.

    • In my opinion, I don’t think it will but it will be interesting to see what effect it has on the sales, though.

      •  Well, I’m waiting for that game to get a VITA :p

        • I’ve got a Vita and will get this if it gets localized.

Glad to see that the game has already taken immediate effect. :D

  • ViewtifulBo

I also want this in the west!!!

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

So… The Ios version  you just move around and wait for the meter to full back up to ATk?… AHMM The vita Version Looks great :D

    • Is the iOS version suppose to share the servers with the PC and Vita versions? I wonder how that will work

      •  sadly no, the ios and adroid version will not cross servers with the pc and vita versions

        •  Okay thanks, everything makes a whole lots of sense now lol

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

        No Ios is stand alone

        • ZEROthefirst

iOS can interect with your characters from the PC/Vita ver. in some way or another, exactly how though I have no idea XD

  • This game just looks amazing, the more they show, the more amazing it gets. The Vita version looks wonderful, hopefully it will be localized as well.

  • PoweredByHentai

This is how I feel about this news at the moment:

Thanks to Luna for finding this GIF.  XD

    • xXDGFXx

Oh, wow, that was a long gif. It worked so well with the trailer music in the background, too

  • Pythia Brixham

So will the Vita version be released at the same time as the PC version in America?

    • PoweredByHentai

Don’t know.  That’s going to depend on whether SEGA is willing to bring the Vita version over as well.

      • All three versions will come, I’m sure.

  • Excitement level is at its peak for Phantasy Star Online 2 in general. =^_^=

  • ….I just wet my pants.
EDIT: I also hope that there’s gonna be an offline mode for vita version

  • This and Persona 4 are 2 reasons to get a Vita.

    Still on the fence, though…

    • Nicholas Yee

gravity rush, ragnarock odyssey and uncharted 3 too.

      • Solomon_Kano

Uncharted 3 isn’t on Vita, that’s Golden Abyss.

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

I’d wait until next year, October is a month packed for the PSV and next year has a few AAA games lined up already like Sly Cooper and Soul Sacrifice. If by Feb (a year since its release) you find that the system has enough games you’d want to play and more on the horizon it’s definitely worth getting it. I own one since day one and don’t regret it one bit~.

      • Leitiso

Same boat as You. I bought a PSV on release and my first game was gravity rush. Yes I waited and just played free games and demos till then. Currently playing PSO2 and I really can’t wait for a vita version if it ever gets localized here. Yeah I’d have to play my character over again but it would be fun to do anyway.

  • Solomon_Kano

    All of my Meseta.

Dear sweet lord, SEGAAAAAA BRING THIS WEST!

  • sherimae1324

the VITA version looks so yummy!!! and cross-playable with the PC versions too!! its so sweeeet sega now please bring this game to the west!

atleast that’s what most westerns says anyway ^_^ tee-hee

    • Wish they had that ‘buy it on PC, get it on Vita’ deal.

  • I’m actually interested about this version of PSO, especially considering that I was never able to play the first one when it came out years ago.
