Pre-Order DmC Devil May Cry For These Bonus Weapons [Update 2]

By Ishaan . October 8, 2012 . 10:00am

Update: Capcom have confirmed to us that these are merely extra skins for the shotgun, scythe and axe.

DmC Devil May Cry has pre-order bonuses at GameStop, EB Games, Amazon, and Best Buy. Pre-ordering at any of these stores will grant you bonus weapons and perks. Today, Capcom detailed what you’ll get for pre-ordering at each store:

Pre-ordering DmC Devil May Cry at Amazon will get you an exclusive Bone Weapons pack and character perk. You’ll be able to transform Dante’s shotgun, scythe and axe into bone weapons and get access to the Orb Harvester, which will let you collect extra Red Orbs to upgrade your weapons and combos with.

Meanwhile, pre-ordering the game at GameStop or EB Games will get you the Samurai pack, which will let you transform the shotgun, scythe and axe into “Samurai Devastators”. Additionally, you’ll get three free upgrade points to instantly upgrade weapons, combos, or purchase items from the start of the game.

Finally, pre-ordering the game from Best Buy will give you access to the Golden pack, which will turn the shotgun, scythe and axe into golden weapons and will also grant you the Item Finder, which will help you track down hidden items in the game.

DmC Devil May Cry will be released on January 15th, 2013 in North America for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A PC version will follow at some point in the future.

why cant we just unlock these in-game -_-

    • kupomogli

We’ll be able to for $$$.

    • $30632660

      Welcome to Generation Seven.

    • XiaomuArisu

       Maybe we can.
They did the same with Asura´s Wrath.

    • Godman

Because retailers want to make a sale, and what better way than tormenting the customers with making a choice between awesome pre-order bonuses

  • Arcm

I expected dlc for any Capcom game now a days so I’m not surprised. But I do want this game Ninja Theory made Heavenly Sword and Enslaved both very good games so Im excited for this and Metal Gear Rising.

    • D-Rev

Metal Gear Rising is by Platinum Games, my good sir.

  • Voltech44

Hey, if they throw in a bone version of the Nevan (or any form of the Nevan), I’m in.  I’d say a demon electric guitar is just what DmC needs to spice things up.

  • MrRobbyM

Welp, not that I didn’t expect it, but I was kinda hoping they’d be unlockables.

  • $3587643

    You have already flopped.

Something about ‘preorder weapons’ just makes me want to scream “AAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!!”

Of course, I’m a fan of this type of game. Still buying it on Amazon because I prefer my games to come to me XD

  • Serpenter Rex

I don’t support store-exclusive pre-order content -.-” Though the game looks fun, and I hope it does well – This is gonna stop me from pre ordering at all.

  • Jake Deerberg

Meh personally I don’t care about store exclusive Pre-orders. They always wind up being DLc later on anyhow. THough seriously it’s a tough choice. Guess I’ll go for the bone weapons since the samurai stuff looks kinda… plain.

    • KingNigma

I’m still waiting on those Gamestop exclusive pre-order costumes for Graces f to be available as DLC

  • http://twitter.com/Klarktastic Klark / Bengalinha

Yeah, definitely not getting this now, not gonna support this bad practice

    • Kris

      …It’s a skin. XD

  • http://twitter.com/Romangelo Román Monterossa

How about DLC Bonus that change Dante back to the real Dante?

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

It’s about time to stop this nonsense, don’t you think?

Don’t do this again please. We’re well past that point, and if you have nothing other than a snarky one-liner to offer, it’s better that you don’t say anything. This is your THIRD warning. There won’t be another after this.

      • http://www.facebook.com/herp.herpinson Herp Herpinson

woa, he is expressing his own opinion you asshole

        • M’iau M’iaut

An opinion we have heard repeatedly for well over a year, and for which it has been made clear has been said and done to the point of being over and done. Please be aware of the site rules, and that yes, we do monitor for them.

          You about to learn boy.

        • http://wiredjungle.wordpress.com/ DrakosAmatras

Even letting aside the fact that opinions still should make sense… that wasn’t an “opinion”; people really should stop using that word as a shield. That was a complaint/demand for something impossible to happen at this point – and that sentiment has been around for far too long. If people like the old DMC games, sure, they’re free to; but it’s not like those were tailor-made to impress what would be today’s fanbase either. If Capcom wanted an experiment, just let them; it doesn’t cost people anything if they’re not gonna buy it.

          • http://www.facebook.com/herp.herpinson Herp Herpinson

opinions should make sense? that’s your opinion right there, and you know what? to me, that doesn’t make any sense.

          • http://wiredjungle.wordpress.com/ DrakosAmatras

That’s not just “my opinion”; that’s how opinions are utilized in real-life. If you don’t care about making sense, then your opinions won’t be paid attention – plain and simple.

I’m not gonna involve myself in longwinded roundabout semantics arguments. If you’re here to stir up trouble, just leave.

       LOL GOOD ONE!!

Samurai Pack is the only one that entices me personally. Too bad it’s at Gamestop and I’m getting mine via Amazon.

  • Kris

I guess I don’t get why people are so grumpy over this. They’re not their own weapons, they’re skins for Dante’s current weapons. All the attacks shown off are exactly the same. XD

…and to be honest, I think they’re pretty lame-looking skins.

As for the extra orbs/item finders/whatnot, I don’t think I’d be using those. Seems like it might take away some of the fun of doing stuff yourself.

    • http://www.facebook.com/robert.leonardi.56 Robert Leonardi

it doesn’t matter if its a skin or not, a bad marketing practice is still bad

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/5UFEVTPDTXD33NSMUFMX4TEAMQ Mike

I’m not going to pre order this.

not because of the store exclusive DLC(ok partly since I can’t really decide between  them all)

I’m not pre ordering because of all the games that have been coming out lately.(plus I wasen’t terribly interested in this game, I mean its interesting but I’d rather Pre order the AC3 vita game than this)

  • Gaara D.Dragon

The only thing i can say to people who want to play this game is to consider buying it second hand or renting it, in order to encourage Capcom to go back to the original game series.

    • Luna Kazemaru

      No thank you.

    • M’iau M’iaut

We’ve asked folks to stop these posts every time out. This is a reboot and the article is about the various weapons kits available with preorder. Nothing new there either.

    • Zarathos No Daimaōh

That’s ridiculous imo . Enjoying the game used and talking about it still help its rep and marketing . Just avoid the game if you dont like it .

As for the dlc , it’s a mixed bag . Some are incredibly tacky like anything golden weapons . And the whole extra bonuses cheapen the game’s challenge obviously , but hey each person will waste its money on something silly every once in a while .

  • Anime10121

Expected, this IS Generation 7, where Ninja Gaiden 3 was released with ONE weapon.  While I am looking forward to this now, I’m not preordering, after the last few “gems” from Capcom, I think I’ll wait to see what the general response is before buying, and depending on what I hear, I’ll figure out whether to buy new or used (depending upon framerate, gameplay, etc issues).  I still would prefer them to finish the story of the original series before doing this reboot, as I much more prefer my campy Japanese story and anime looking characters, BUT if this actually turns out to be pretty good (which it admittedly is looking pretty good), I’ll gladly support the new direction.  I just hope its as good as it actually looks.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

They should have gave him Samurai and Golden Armor/Suit  to go with the skins then the Pro-order  bonus would be worth getting. Seems like they didn’t put much effort into Skins at all.Nice music tho….*not preordering this*

  • Göran Isacson

… So skins, more or less. Not the most attractive DLC, I got to admit. Bonus items look more interesting than the weapons, truth be told.

Now what I’m wondering is if these skins can be unlocked in-game, or if it’s pre-order extras only.

  • Nitraion

    …..Idunnoaboutthis :V
I always like unique weapon with different combo than skin…
Well the last time i see the comment of people who play demo of this game kinda encourage me to play this game… but after see this news i kinda worried this is like pissing people who don’t hate the game/reboot at all and make people who already hate this reboot laughing hard…

  • Quinton Cunningham

I hope the same people saying they won’t support DmC over this ALSO didn’t pre-order Virtue’s Last Reward, Ni no Kuni, Assassin’s Creed 3, Dishonored, and a myriad of other games, because they all had retailer specific bonuses too.

    • puchinri

I thought the Ni no Kuni bonus is the same, and it’s technically an LE from Bamco themselves. Can’t say anything about the others though. >u<

      • http://www.facebook.com/robert.leonardi.56 Robert Leonardi

no, apparently its pre-ord bonuses are different between retailers, gamestop gives you a steelbook case, and amazon gives you a griffon familiar

        • puchinri

Oh, I had forgotten about the steel bookcase (and didn’t even know Amazon was doing something). Fair point then~.

    • http://www.facebook.com/robert.leonardi.56 Robert Leonardi

to be honest, i feel that DmC’s preorder bonus are just some “meh” quality skins, while the games that you mentioned have actual usable contents that 1-ups the game, soooo yeah, no point in supporting DmC’s preorder bonuses (but i do think that retailer specific bonuses is kinda stupid and bad marketing at its finest)

      • Quinton Cunningham

You do realize how hypocritical that is, don’t you?

“Oh, it’s a cosmetic skin that does nothing. Not gonna support this!”

“It’s a physical item or something that actually improves the game? Totally cool with it!”

That’s ludicrous. A cosmetic item shouldn’t be met with backlash. If anything, the OTHER games should be getting flak because they’re dividing up meaningful pieces of the game (Resident Evil 6′s Mercs maps) or forcing you to buy from a specific retailer if you want a nice physical item (Virtue’s Last Reward’s watch being Amazon only).

        • http://www.facebook.com/robert.leonardi.56 Robert Leonardi

in one’s view it is hypocrisy, but when viewed value wise, a cosmetic item doesn’t fall in close with actual content, these things are just skins and doesn’t do anything but decorate the content and waste everyone’s time

while actual contents can be valued as to how they affect gameplay and play time, and multiplayer pieces will be available through dlc anyways, its not like its going to be retailer exclusive, that wouldn’t help the devs, so even though you don’t get the contents through pre-order, there’s always another way to get them

          • Quinton Cunningham

It IS hypocrisy, plain and simple. To not support it when it’s a purely cosmetic item and then turn around and support it when it’s REAL content that was cut from the game or a physical item exclusive to a certain store is asinine. You can’t have your cake and eat it, too.

I for one would much rather have a piddly little item I wouldn’t care to miss out on by buying from my retailer or choice over a piece of menaningful content or a cool physical item that forces me to buy from a retailer I didn’t want to use, which is what happened to me with Virtue’s Last Reward. I had to go cancel my Gamestop order, place a new one with Amazon and then pay far more for shipping if i wanted the game in a timely manner.

I don’t dig the practice myself, but I vastly prefer it to be piddly items as a nifty bonus for my pre-order as opposed to anything else.

          • http://www.facebook.com/robert.leonardi.56 Robert Leonardi

i for one prefer to miss out the piddly little items and just take the games i want with pre-order bonuses that give extra content, unless if its from gamestop, then that’s another story

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

I dont understand with all the backlash here. This is just skin. Not a weapon there.

And this practice have been done by all other company here.

I hope that you guys who complain wont said that I am going to support fire emblem or virtue last reward when they also have this pre-order bonuses.

    • $3587643

Everything about this game was bad before this announcement, which was also bad. It’s momentum.

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Which is a very unfair treatment here especially when most of the one who hated this game is not because of the gameplay but the fact that Dante changed.

And i don’t think this game is bad there too and i hope this one will success as if this game fail, it is more or less sure that DMC franchise is going to be dead just like Onimusha and BoF there.

        • Zarathos No Daimaōh

Better dead than sharing the fate of franchises like Shining Force imo . You can’t just give in and accept whatever thing done to a franchise just out of fear it would otherwise die …

And it’s a lie anyway , DMC4 is still the highest selling hack and slash right on the heels of God of War 3 . If it was in peril , then the whole genre is doomed anyway .

Finally it sends a confused message , that companies will exploit however they see fit . I’ve yet to see a reboot/weird spin off for a franchise sending a clear message that fans want the games alive and yet back as they were . it only tell them that people are desperate and will eat whatever with the same name , or actually like the new direction

I get that some people find the game good and cool , but i wish they’d stop putting words in everyone’s mouth .

There is plenty that was commented upon that some DMC fans dont like with the new game going beyond the hero’s new look . But for lack of an actual argument , that’s the crap fans of DmC always go back to .

It’s tired and pointless at this juncture .. people that find the new game interesting arent going to convince those against it , and vice versa .

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

I can’t said i agree with you there. Shining series for me here has always be very fun especially the recent Shining Blade. And about giving in there, it is not about giving in however, some of the player actually love the new direction or that they don’t had any problem with the reboot there.

And about DMC4 being high sell, it can be that they take the reboot here because Capcom feel that they don’t have any way of continuing the story anymore there.

“I get that some people find the game good and cool , but i wish they’d stop putting words in everyone’s mouth.” I do agree about this here but sadly the other hating sides also did this lol.

          • Zarathos No Daimaōh

You get what i’m saying , it is obviously better to give up or giving it  a kiss of death for those hating those directions , wich could just be new ips anyway , even more successful without the baggage of the older games , and the wrath of old fans .

Even if you like shining Blade , it’s nowhere close to what Shining force used to be . And it wasnt just Shining blade and the likes of Wind , Sega released stuff like Force Neo , to abysmal result and major dissmay .

“And about DMC4 being high sell, it can be that they take the reboot”

i’m only mentioning it , because too often is it argued that they HAD to reboot for finiancial reasons . it’s not true , the game sold very well . Wanting to go higher or to do something else is entirely different from pretending the serie was struggling .

Anyway , in the end we’ll just agree to disagree i guess .

  • kangms872

    so.. what’s that different?? skin??

  • dahuuuundge

Now with less incentive to be stylish with the orb harvestor upgrade

    • Kris

Yeah… Not a fan of that one at all. :P

  • Ronald Bixler

If I had to deal with blood-thirsty demons gunning for me, I think the last thing on my mind would be “Does this shotgun clash with my coat?” Also, just because this bugs me and is on a similar keel, why is getting your weapons gold-plated a reward? There is NOTHING practical about a sniper rifle that shines so bright, that it looks like it should have a matching chain looped through it and hung around a rapp stars neck. Black chalkboard paint would be the finish on my weapon of choice (and sensibility).
