By Ishaan . October 19, 2012 . 8:30am

Anarchy Reigns, PlatinumGames’ multiplayer brawler for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, finally has a release date in both North America and Europe.

Platinum tweeted the news this morning, announcing that North America will see Anarchy Reigns on January 8th for $30 while Europe will get the game on January 11th for £20/€25.

Anarchy Reigns was originally supposed to be released in the west this year. The game was delayed from its original release window into Summer 2012, and then further delayed to Q1 2013.

Hah, I totally forgot about this game. My hype and will to purchase died out a while back. Sorry, Platinum-bros.

  • WELL THAT’S JUST… A really good price actually o.o

  • KingGunblader

Woo! Been waiting for this! This should make for good multiplayer action while I work through Ni No Kuni :D

  • gogogoldberg

Awesome!  I ended up importing the game, but I haven’t gotten real deep into it yet.  I will hopefully be in a good place to play multiplayer with everyone who buys the game in January.  Exciting!

  • Neophoton

I admit I forgot all about this game, and my interest has died out quite some time ago. Shame Sega chose to push it off to the point where I already have other games to occupy myself with.

  • Alex Cattaneo

Now that is an awesome deal! i need to support it

  • XiaomuArisu

If the price is an excuse for the delay…its working!
    Its time for some Anarchy!

  • Alos88

Anyone else think this increases the odds of certain other Sega titles getting localized? Yakuza 5 in particular.

    • FitzpatrickPhillips

I’m pretty sure Yakuza 5 was never in any trouble to begin with.

    •  No…cuz this suppose to be release in the west way back…this doesn’t mean anything

      • Alos88

They were under no obligation to localize this just because they hinted at it, localisations get cancelled all the time, even planned ones.

  • margherita mastropaolo

awesome deal,i’ll buy it on day one

  • Cephrien

    Alright. I forgive you Sega.

  • SirRichard

£20 brand new, day one? Holy hell Sega, that’s one marvelous way of excusing the delay.

Been saying it more and more these past few days but it needs to be said once more: 2013 is going to start with a bang.

  • Natat

$30? Well isn’t that nice, all things considered. There are plenty of games I still play and have to play, so I don’t mind waiting.

  • malek86

Budget price, uh? That says a lot about their confidence in the game (but then again, so did the delay).

Just wondering, is there an offline mode?

    • margherita mastropaolo

      there is one

    •  the story mode and all the multiplayer modes against bots

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Good to know they have some sense to release it at a budget price after making us wait for half a year. Now, does anyone know if they will have made any improvements over the JPN version from the initial feedback?

  • doubletaco

I can almost hear them spitting out the tweet. It’s pretty clear that Platinum is fed up with Sega at this point.

    • The relationship with Sega has certainly been a rocky one. Inaba even said in a recent interview that they undershipped Infinite Space on the DS:

      • Well, he’s right : they didn’t believe in IS success back in the day…

  • z_merquise

And that’s great! I can finally get to enjoy the game followed by Metal Gear Rising at February 2013.

Platinum Games goodness in just few months!

  • Awww yeah! Come this January we can beat each other senseless lol

  • Muffum

As one who would’ve bought the game at full price regardless, I’m ambivalent toward the cut price. On one hand, some people will obviously be more willing to buy it because of the lower price. On the other, I’ve heard many people dismiss games released at prices of $40 or lower as budget games and not bother with them.

I can’t help but be reminded of Capcom releasing Sengoku Basara in the west, and we all know how that turned out.

    • AlteisenX

Sonic Generations was $40 here in Canada, and was the best 3D Sonic I’ve personally played and most people agree. Nobody passes on prices, they pass on videos and previews when games look boring, ugly, or stale.

Personally I don’t know what you’re talking about with Sengoku Basara because in general I stay away from those type of games. If anyone is to blame for that, it would be KOEI and their stale Dynasty Warriors and other hack and slash series, would it not?

    • Fidelis

      I don’t understand
“As a game, you’re too cheap for me to buy. Come back when you’re 30 dollars more! ”

People who just browse and buy at shops probably will not know when it was released and I doubt people who research their purchases beforehand will have their opinion swayed negatively because of a lower price

      • Muffum

It’s not a huge opinion, granted, but I have heard it around a few times. The logic is more along the lines of “This game is so bad, even the publishers realized charging full price for it would be a rip off!”

  • AaqibRawat

    fantastic game
    blacker baron steals the show!
can not wait for some more people to grab it so i can finally get into some multiplier matches.

Story mode is fantastic and well worth repeated plays!

  • $30 and an early January release! Wow! This is exciting news. I’ve been waiting patiently for this news before deciding whether to import or not. So glad that I’ll be able to acquire it for less than most other new release games.

  • Japan dropped this game in a month so I don’t blame Sega for wanting to push their own games over this POS

  • Nice.

  • Nitraion

Japan is really like killing this game in low sell…
i wonder US sales will be regardless i will buy it its 30$ game for godly game…

  • Ty Arnold

Would’ve bought it for $60. Am happy to buy it for $30 instead, and I hope that maybe the price will make twice as many people buy it.

    • Asura

You just reversed the entire song.

      • Ty Arnold

Yeah, I did notice that later.

It’s kind of hard to notice such things when most of the time, when you’re hearing the song, there’s loud, bloody violence accompanying it.

  • British_Otaku

    Buying two copies.
One for myself and one for a friend.
    SEGA, you are forgiven.

  • TruSpindash

Very excited to hear this news, even more so since I’ll be able to pick it up for only 30 dollars. Now I just need to know if I still need to per-order to play as Bayonetta.

  • Katamari Toys

nice, I´ve just bought the japanese version, but I hope more players will be able to get this game

  • Göran Isacson

… That is seriously cheap, man. I’m buying this solely because of that lower price point man, it’s a deal too sweet to pass up!

… Then again, watch it get jacked up to the equivalent of full-price here in Sweden because of Nordic Film and their extra game-tax, the bastards…

  • SLick123456789111

    Nice deal.

  • Fidelis

    anarchy who?

  • Learii

$30 nice but i wonder why is cheaper then other new games?

    • because its not a 6 hour long game with two multiplayer modes tacked on and the name of triple A maker in the cover.
of course with triple A maker i mean western companies that spend millions in marketing and try to make everything as as bland and generic as possible to attract the biggest amount of consumers without offending nobody.

      • margherita mastropaolo

well said,i totally agree with you

      • Learii

        so the game short?

      • Goncalo Rabacal

Well, they sure had no problem charging 60 bucks for Vanquish, a 5 long hour game with reused content and a challenge mode tacked on.

The only reason why they’re charging at a loss here is because they know this won’t sell that much overall and it would sell even less if they charged full price.

    • Jordan Coleman

Because Sega has no confidence in it and is just throwing it out there.

      • Luna Kazemaru

Or they could be making up for the delay..herp

  • Xekyo

Finally.  I totally forgot about this game.  Discounted for PS+ users hrmmm?  lol Or just adding it to the instant game collection would be nice.  :D

  • Kitestwinblades

Probably the best news ever! Bayonetta was like the best way to start off 2010. Now we have this at the beginning of 2013 (after the “dreadful end” of 2012). XD

But you know… for a steal like that, its really does seem like the end of the world.
$30 bucks goes against practically everything, thus the title.

  • Julien_N

When I saw those prices, I thought the game would be released digitally or something…
But 25€ for a new boxed copy? If only more games were launched like this! =D

  • KyoyaHibari

Sweet, we have to wait a few extra months, but at least we get it for half the initially proposed price. :D

  •  What the… 25€… I don’t even… *_*

  • Patience is virtue.
Edit: Will it have Bayonetta? If not, I hope she’ll be available as DLC.

  •  Uh, I’m glad it was pushed ahead a little, but everyone is acting like the price news are, well, new. I’m pretty sure it was announced months ago(actually, before the Japanese release) that the NA/EU price would be around 30 dollars. Around the time we had a first western release date and Platinum said it was all SEGA’s doing, since they gave them a complete working english version already back in July.

  • puchinri

Yay~! I can live with that! (Better for my wallet, too.)

I’m glad we’ll still be seeing it, and in a fairly nice time.
