Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 has interactive environmental elements in its stages and it has ring-outs as well. This morning, Namco Bandai Europe shared footage of a Minato vs. Sasuke fight that shows these elements off:

so this is the ring out stage note to self avoid

  • ZEROthefirst

I was hoping it would be the you get knocked out of the ring and fall down to another area like in the Clash of Ninja series, and a lot of other fighters… not the go outside and you lose (a lot of attacks launch you in the UNS games). As long as it’s limited to certain spots in the arena and not all the way around then it’s fine.

  • OatMatadoQuatro

The interaction looks pretty good but I still don’t a character losing if he touches a certain part of the area.

  • Nitraion

Hmm ring out and rassengan doesn’t sound good idea…==”
rassengan is a launcher skill and i’m afraid the online will be dissaterous spam

    • KilsanZ

      Exactly what i thought

    • Rasengan Spam won’t be too bad. Besides, I’d rather have a Minato/Naruto Rasen-spam me than a Oonoki or Masked Man.

      • Nitraion

I dunno i rather they have move away to another stage like DOA 5 or something.. if they wanna make it like Virtua fighter or soul calibur ring out that’s like outta place because i know naruto’s strom have so many launcher skill besides rassengan of course…

        • That’s true. I agree with ya. But I don’t think this’ll be too bad. Rasengan spammers are the easiest to avoid nowadays. If anything the hard ones are Masked Men and Oonoki. Also there aren’t many launcher jutus. They range between grabs and combo-enders.

How did Sasuke call Suigetsu when he isnt his support?

But this was awesome, I wish we get some SasuNaru videos.

    • ZEROthefirst

Suigetsu was one of his supports, look before he goes out. It looks like your support can save you, but when they do you can’t use them anymore for that match.

  • Christian Wright

that ring out looked so silly…..

  • YoshEE

    Oh dam this interesting o_O

  • StarWarudo

This game, Shin Hokuto Musou, and Jojo All Star in 2013… damn, it’ll be a good year.

  • British_Otaku

I can see what they are going for…
An extension of the gameplay which can sacrifice defensive supports in deadly situations and it makes the stage less of a square with walls but something where you care about your location for… However, this doesn’t work in a logical fashion for Naruto.

Dragon Ball games feature ring outs exclusively on maps where it was a core concept (the Tenkaichi Budokai ring). For the Tenkaichi games, they rebalanced the distance that people are sent for the sake of the mode.

Naruto Clash of Ninja had a ring out concept akin to Budokai (on non-tournament stages) where it would add on damage and shift to a new location. It also featured environments which could be used to set traps, take cover or extend combos. Nothing on the lines of an “auto-win” wall, without source material justifying anything.

It’s not a complete failure as it will go with the new Generations sub system well enough (aside from nearly everything being a launcher) but it seems like it will make some stages… “That stage”. The one where people accuse you of cheating for getting as a random selection.

Also, flying out of stages looks awkward as hell.

    • Narrator 1

I’d agree wholeheartedly with you, concerning the ring outs; but on the other hand, I can’t help but cheer whenever and however Shippuuden Sasuke gets his butt handed to him.

  • Prinnydoom

Not the sort of thing i was hoping for…..ring outs suck >_<

  • andref

That last ring out was cheap, looking at sasuke slamming into the guard rail, I figured he would still stay on the roof not fly off. Still it does look like there is a lot more environment interaction what with damage to the rail

  • It would have been better to me at least, if the ring outs sent the opponent to another area, with decreased health instead of ring outs…

All these small changes to gameplay REALLY make me worried of how online will play out… As I’ve seen, the longer you own an online Storm game, the more innovative/creative ways people start playing. (Jump dashing, instant Ougi input after a dash clash, throwing kunai to stun an opponent for that ONE split vulnerable moment…)

Ring Outs seem… outta left field, and I can see how there’s gonna be people FOCUSING their ALL on getting you out.

  • SonicRulez

I hope you can turn those off, cause that…sucks.

  • OathkeeperSoraXIII

I like the idea, but I don’t like the fact it’s an auto win. I’d prefer they moved locations. to a ‘rooftops’ level or something. the distance rasengan you get blown away from a rasengan is going to absolutely destroy this concept -_- I hope they can change it or tweak it in some way so that it’s not an auto win.

    • Just let them know via their mail-in-site thingy about the change and how negative it is and they will no doubt tweak it. They do listen to their fans in some regard.

  • Areuto

Oh No what did they do to ultimate ninja storm?!

  • 202jkdc

I agree with those saying a stage transition should happen.

  • Deno13

I agree this feature sucks everyone go to the CC2 suggestion site and asked them for stage transitions instead of Ring out

  • Christopher Nunes

Why couldn’t the ring out send you into another area or be like the DBZ Budokai series with the ring outs more specifically? I’m a bit fiffy about… what’s the e-mail so I can address this?

  • Δημήτριος Γλύκας

@Deno13:disqus when we see something new?You had tell we will see something new…but nothing happend.
