Street Fighter X Tekken 2013 Patch Pushed To January; More Changes Detailed

By Ishaan . November 17, 2012 . 10:30am

Capcom have revealed a few more of the tweaks that will be included in their Street Fighter X Tekken 2013 balance patch, which will be made available for free once it is complete. (Prior details on the patch can be found here)

From producer, Tomoaki Ayano, comes the following information:

Normal Throws

In addition to reducing the frames on start up from 7F to 5F, we’reconsidering tweaking throws to make them more viable as a way of defeating your opponent’s defenses. We aren’t looking to up the damage of normal throws with this tweak, so much as we are trying to speed up the matches.

The Vitality Gauge Shaking

We’ve gotten a lot of feedback asking us to stop the vitality gauge from shaking when taking damage. However, we’ve also heard some folks say that having the gauge shake makes it easier to see who took damage when viewing replays. Both points make sense, however since fighting games require players to make split-second, situation-based decisions, we’ve decided to go with tweaks that improve visibility for the person actually fighting the match.

Quick Combos

We’ve also had some feedback telling us that Quick Combos will activate without the player meaning to execute them. Seeing as this really hinders gameplay—which is something we really want to avoid—we’re thinking out how to make it so that this doesn’t happen.

The Street Fighter X Tekken ver. 2013 patch will be released on January 29th, 2013, which is a little later than the initially planned December release, but Ayano says the extra time is going toward including more player feedback.

“…tweaks that will be included in their Street Fighter X Tekken 2013 balance patch, which will be made available for free once it is complete.”

I love how the article needed to point out that the patch is “free” XD With Capcom, you don’t know when they will start charging for each patch and update XD

    • sd28

i dont think they have ever charged for a patch

      • BadenBadenPrinny

         SSFIVAE says hi

        • sd28

so you dont know what a patch up date is

          • BadenBadenPrinny

That’s exactly what AE was and people were still made to pay for it

    • Kibbitz

To be fair though, while Capcom extra reason to be careful over this, don’t most people these days consider all DLC as pay DLC until mentioned otherwise? At least that’s the impression I have.

  • benhofb

Huh. This coming to the Vita version?

  • Go2hell66

i’m sorry this game can’t be fixed

  • eilegz

now bundle the “dlc” and this and release at 20 dollars and MAYBE have a chance….

  • Brandonmkii

Looking forward to it. My fighting game friends and I still think it has potential. Maybe this will get more people to pick it up again.

The SFxT hate of overwhelimg (and kind of annoying if you ask me).

Sure, I think Namco will do a better job with TxSF and that Capcom could have managed the game a lot better, but at least they are trying to improve a game that needs it instead of just merely riding the games that are better.

Count me in as part of the anti-“anti-SFxT” bandwagon; I’ll be getting the game on thanksgiving week to play with my famliy and friends.

And if past history is any indication (SSF4, UMvC3, CvS2, SF3:3S,SFA2G), the 2013 patch make SFxT a hell of a lot better

We will see, and I agree the hate the game received is unjustified, I don’t necessarily think that means it’s a good game.

One of the greatest criticisms it receives is how long and drawn out the fights become, and looking over the changelog they seem to be nerfing offensive pressure tools in more ways than not.  Granted they’ll also be getting rid of the herp derp roll system by nixing a lot of the invincibility, but it all amounts to, “Hey, people don’t think SFXT’s game system is very fun, lets make it more like SF4.”

SF4 is all well and good, but uh, we already have SSF4.  Why would we need a 2nd one?

    • sd28

agreed i wish people would get over it

  • OatMatadoQuatro

Will they explain what’s with Pandora’s box?

  • Ivan Junior

I got the Vita version and I’m enjoying it so far (:

  • Yesfir

Awesome! I wish more people would warm up to this game.

  • elppakcuf

the only problems i have with sfxt are stupid glowing when gems are activated and broken online fluidity for pc, i have both ps3 and pc version to play with all my friends
