5pb Working On New Game Steins;Gate: Linear Bounded Phenogram

By Ishaan . November 24, 2012 . 10:30am

Mages (or 5pb, if you prefer) are working on a new Steins;Gate game, the publisher announced this week at a live event. Steins;Gate: Linear Bounded Phenogram will be released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Spring 2013.

Rather than being told from the perspective of protagonist, Rintarou Okabe, Linear Bounded Phenogram will be told from the perspective of each of the Labomen. Naotaka Hayashi will be penning the game’s script once again, and will be joined by a slate of other writers, including Zero Escape series director, Kotaro Uchikoshi.

You can visit the official website for Steins;Gate: Linear Bounded Phenogram here.

Can we have some Zero Escape cameos in the game too ? =D

Or at least a localization ?

    • JazzWithAttitude

      Localization will never be seen…

      • But its Steins Gate Umooo…

      • The sad fate of VNs… Anime adaptation gets english release but the source doesn’t…..

How nice of it to coincide with the release of the newest trailer for the movie ( http://youtu.be/cMppAyG7YxA )

      Awesome movie trailer :)

As much as I love S;G, at first I was a little wary they’re milking it just a bit too much.. but so far the novels and drama CD follow ups have been quite good..   then I forgot how epic it was.. who am I kidding, I think I would just get the limited edition, my wallet *.*;;.. I didn’t think the dating-sim spinoff was that good though.. and they alrdy explored Kurisu, Mayuri, and Shining Finger’s perspective a bit on the 3 drama CDs before.. hope the game would be good.

BTW, Okarin sounds so Shakespeare in the Eng dub (like Kuno in the Ranma Viz dub).. it’s fitting for a mad scientist but still hard to get used to..  also I wish they would have a different set of subtitles for the Eng script..

This latest canon novel/CD after the ending alrdy being scalped for ~$90 :(…

Are the novels just adaptations of the story with (probably minor) changes?

        • Aoshi00

There are diff. novels, the first set of 2 were like retelling and went into more details w/ some differences.  But this new one “Heijikyokusen no Epigraph” picks up from the Beta timeline where Okarin failed to save Kurisu, the 2nd novel would be released soon.  A new character who is Kurisu’s classmate from the US, seems like she’s plotting something bad..

The 3 main drama CDs delved more deeply into the mindset of Kurisu, Mayuri, and Moeka.. and several short funny ones w/ silly scenarios like hot spring, etc.  The 8-bit PC game also picked up from the ending, and seems like the movie is the same.

I was a bit disappointed by Hiyoku Renri no Darling the dating-sim spinoff..  I hope this would be a sequel worthy of the title.  Just can’t help but feel like they milk the franchise a bit too much.. Steins;Gate is really good though..

          • Does Takumi really appear in the 8-bit sequel? Can I have detailed plot of it?

Also does this mean “Heijikyokusen no Epigraph” is a continuation of EP1 if Okabe didn’t switch world line? (sry my memory a bit hazy on it.)

          • Aoshi00

Yeah, I believe Takumi has something to do w/ the 8-bit PC game’ story, reviews said it would be hard to proceed w/o a guide unless you have finished Chaos;Head. Also the game was very short, and the archaic command prompts were very cumbersome, overall a cheaply made game that wasn’t worth it.

Remember Okarin tried to save Kurisu in ep 24 or 25 and then he failed at first before his 2nd attempt, that should Beta worldline :)

I hope they put a lot of effort into this game, Darling felt lackluster and a quick cashcow, the 8-bit PC game was a weird choice too.. Robotics;Notes is good though. I’m still on Ch 8 of 12, trying to finish it, haven’t seen the ending yet.. anime quite well done so far. Oh, Daru, Kurisu, and Takumi cameo in Twipo (R;N’s version of Twitter) if you fulfill picking the right replies.

          • Good to know. I been hearing ppl saying bad things abt it everywhere and the spoilers I found out is not helping either. (Funny I found it on S;G movie trailer) I personally enjoyed R;N anime.

I want to know the twitter twippo message lol. Would you kindly post it here? ^.^

          • Aoshi00

The tweets from them are unlocked rather late in R;N, so far I only got Daru’s and one post he’s like “On Xmas Eve I’m staying w/ family. Oh, you think it’s my parents huh, nope, it’s my wife and kid, my cute 2 yr-old daughter” something like that :) I still haven’t gotten Kurisu and Takumi’s tweets yet. Their handles are DASH, Knight-hart, & Kuri-Gohan :)

The movie trailer seem cool, at least the animation looks amazing.

          • Oh Kurisu. Your “past time” is no secret ;)

  • Mavalex

My wallet is saddened by the fact that it loses more money.
Meanwhile, I’m all excited about this

“…and will be joined by a slate of other writers, including Zero Escape series director, Kotaro Uchikoshi.”
It only hurts more now that we won’t see a PC release…

  • WingsOfEternity

You know shits getting real when you got Kotaro Uchikoshi.

  • Pure hype. Huge fan since day one.

  • OH MY GOD YES! Now on convivcing MAGES to release it in english though :(

So now I am curious, where does the movie fit in? Prequel for the game?
