You Can Try Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch On Tuesday

By Spencer . December 2, 2012 . 11:41pm

ninokNamco Bandai will release a playable demo of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch on PlayStation Network. You can hear Drippy chatter on with an English accent on Tuesday.

We’ve seen a couple of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch demos. One of them lets players explore the field, another has a boss fight with a pig tank, and the most recent one took place on an erupting volcano.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is about two months away with a January 22, 2013 release date for North America.

Drippy has a Welsh accent, not English. Huge difference.

  • Go2hell66

well thats awesome, i’ve been wanting to try out this game but i couldn’t help but notice that guilty gear is not on the PS blog T_T

  • puchinri

A great birthday present to myself. vuv
    (And partially from my boyfriend.)

Can’t wait to try the demo. While the significant change in Shizuku/Drippy’s voice (and name, a bit) still bug me a little, I’m very excited for the game nonetheless and looking forward to it. ♥

  • Zeik56

Awesome. Will be a nice reward after finishing up the term on Tuesday.

Looks like an amazing game, but it’ll take sometime until I can play it…

they could localize the DS’s Ni No Kuni… =/

    • Zeik56

From what I understand the DS game is only mildly different from the PS3 game, and it’s also a DS game, so there’s not really any good reason for them to localize it honestly. Especially considering this game probably isn’t going to be a huge seller anyway.

    • Elvick

      No.

It’s not a viable product in the West. Because the DS version *REQUIRES* the book. That takes up tons of shelf space, which I’m sure retailers wouldn’t like with an untested new IP. It would put off the “portable” aspect of the game, and it would just turn off tons of people.

Not worth the risk. Nevermind the fact that the PS3 version looks infinitely better in every way, but meh.

      • http://www.facebook.com/TheJobist Guilherme Matheus Silva

        ahh, I forgot about the book ‘-’ It’d be a real nuisance…

        • Elvick

Not that I’d turn down the DS release :P (I imported it, but I hear it’s hard to go through even with walkthroughs)

But I just don’t see it happening, so would rather people just shift focus to the other Level-5 games that we could ask for instead. Ones that have more chance. :P

          • http://www.facebook.com/TheJobist Guilherme Matheus Silva

yeah, I tried playing a Japanese ROM… I even got the book in PDF, but I couldn’t =/

hey, maybe if PS3′s Ni No Kuni sells a lot, they might consider a port to 3DS =] Even if it takes some time =]

  • passthegrenadeplease

Hell yes, this game looks right up my alley; I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this, it’s going to be delicious!:P

  • harpdevil

Drippy has a Welsh accent, not English.

  • KingGunblader

Sweet! This is the first big game of 2013 for me. Can’t wait to try it out!

  • Göran Isacson

I wonder if this is the same demo I played a while back on Gamex… it was surprisingly difficult, actually! I saw a lot of people die in the boss-battle and I too had to change my approach to it, mostly because every command has a cooldown period and let me tell you- when the boss gets going you REALLY don’t want to be without a defend command, which happened to me a few times before I got the hang of the controls and didn’t click commands without meaning to. I just hope this won’t make it too difficult for a mainstream audience, but considering how many I saw that died on that demo, especially kids and younger teens who liked the graphics and were drawn by the Ghibli-style, well… not sure if bodes well.

    • DesmaX

Well, it would be weird if this doesn’t have an Easy mode

      • Göran Isacson

True. Funny thing is that I also saw someone who completely broke the bossbattle by NOT changing to the little monster helper, but constantly playing as Oliver and using magic. Most people changed to the monster helper because his Defense was WAY higher, but if you played as Oliver and just constantly WAILED on the monster with spells whenever you could, he died faster than he could kill you. I fought that boss for about eight to ten minutes using the “regular” tactic of switching to helpers, he beat it in three minutes tops.

I am most definitely trying this out. But I know for sure I’ll get the game, so.

  • riceisnice

I mainly bought a PS3 for this game. Which wasn’t that bad of a deal because there were other games I realized that I was missing out on as well.

  • http://openid.anonymity.com/5HuDuQyz Woot

I’ll play this demo ’til my PS3 melts.

    • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

You mean till the demo ends lol =P

  • Niermyico

I haven’t used my PS3 ever since I got my WiiU. This demo will change things. Can’t wait for this game, I got wizard’s edition pre-ordered.

  • MrRobbyM

I don’t need a demo to convince me to buy the game but I’ll definitely be downloading this.

    • Budgiecat

If anything to kill some time. You got the Yakuza 5, Ken’s Rage 2, E.X. Troopers demos?

      • MrRobbyM

Yakuza isn’t my thing. Last and only one I played was 3 and couldn’t get into it. Same with Ken’s Rage. E.X. Troopers on the other hand is awesome. I usually delete demos soon after I play through them but I think I’ll be keeping it for quite a while :)

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

I really hope this game will do well. We don’t want to had Jrpg drought anymore here and if this game sells well, it will shows to Japanese company that we all still love Jrpg and those Jrpg with had quality is going to be rewarded with all of our money here.

    • Elvick

I’m buying it twice here. Since the Wizard Edition doesn’t come with that tin case that Gamestop/EB Games gets. And I bought the DS version and imported the All in One version from Japan.

Hopefully people buy this, but hopefully Namco actually does some advertising for it. I think there would be enough interested in a Studio Ghibli game if it were advertised in a way to actually reach those people.

  • almostautumn

Sounds good. My Jpn version is coming in this week too; looking forward to this game!

  • rinalicat

Sweet! Pity I work…well, I can get the demo and try out after work.

P.S. Drippy actually has a Welsh accent; sorry to be a pain in the butt about it but I’m from England and I just jumped for joy when I heard Drippy’s voice! I also think I know who his actor is but I’m just waiting for confirmation about it…and I am a huge fan of that actor, which is why I am such a pain in the butt. Sorry again.

  • Learii

i already per-order the wizard eidtion i can’t wait to try the demo as well
