Capcom vs. SNK 2 (PS2 Classics) News Coming “Next Year”

By Ishaan . December 19, 2012 . 2:02pm

Capcom Fighting Evolution and Capcom vs. SNK 2 are available for download on the PlayStation Network in Japan as PS2 Classics, but are nowhere to be seen in the west. In light of this, a user on Capcom’s forums recently asked if there are plans for the games to be released on the North American PlayStation Store.

The good news is, the two games are coming. Capcom’s Senior Vice-President, Christian Svensson, replied: “Eventually. The timing will be quite different though from Japan. More news will come ‘next year’.”

If you follow Capcom’s fighting games, you’re likely familiar with Yoshinori Ono, who’s been the face of the publisher’s fighting games push this entire console generation. Capcom Fighting Evolution was the first major Capcom fighter that Ono worked on as a producer.

really thats news to me how long has this been available in japan been wanting to play this since it came out but was always too high or couldn’t find it.

  • AkuLord3

Cool i guess though not sure why people wouldn’t want a Online version for…the oblivious reasons. Didn’t know about Capcom Fighting Evolution…though it bombed, i liked that it was like Neo Geo Coliseum having different characters from some capcom fighters show up.
Kinda wish they do something like that again, Show some Red Earth, Cyberbot, and Rival School/Project Justice love

  • sd28

    im guessing a hd remake

    YES
I always wanted to play CvS2 but every copy I find would never work.

  • MrRobbyM

I still have my copy of CvS2 for the cube and play it every now and then. Really fun game even though the variety of “grooves” was a bit confusing.

    • Almighty_Omega

I have a ps2 copy right here of both games but lets just focus on CvSNK2 !lol

  • Kevi Johnson-el

Still got the ps2 and dreamcast versions of the game but I will prob buy it on psn even though I rather have an HD remake

  • gamefreak86

Hell yes! has this on ps2 years ago but its gone now. was going to buy GameCube version off eBay to add to my collection but this is good news. be even better if it was hd remake. but ill take what I can get

  • Astrotrain

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

  • Wake

The time I spent with this game was obscenely abundant. Freakin’ Vice man.

  • Josh Strange

i prefer a HD remake instead of a classic. so this pretty much tells us there not going to be one…at least.. for awhile.

Could care less about Capcom Fighting Evolution, since it was nothing more than copy and pasting sprites into a horrible fighting game. But for Capcom vs. SNK 2, I’ll definitely be all over that!

Still have and play my CVS2 for the GamCube, thank goodness I brought converters for my Wii to use PS2 controllers.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/xxHiryuuxx Tohsaka

    Got the PS2 version already.

Played the hell more out of the original on PSX/DC though. Probably the best 15 bucks I spent that year that it came out on the former end.

White Gi Ken, one of my Street Fighter arch-nemesis…es. Yeah.

  • Nemesis_Dawn

I would think it’d be better to do something like MVC2 where, they add online play.

  • Shane Guidaboni

I don’t want CVS2 as a download unless it’s coming with online play. You keep that over there if you have no plans for this, Capcom.

  • Göran Isacson

Haven’t played either of these, were they any good? Heard that the Capcom vs SNK games are good all around, if a bit much to absorb what with all the different characters and variety of gameplay styles.

    • Tee Niitris

Evolution is a decent fan-service package for Capcom fans (I still mess with it when I’m bored). Outside of that, it’s not very good (that’s putting it kindly)

CvS is really good (mostly 2), although the Capcom fighters (mostly Street Fighter) are more powerful (of course).

  • BadenBadenPrinny

2013 is the year we make contact

  • AyaisMUsikWhore

I still have this game for the PS2. Well I might as well buy it on Psn, not enough ports on my tv for all that plug in and out stuff

  • Christopher

I want CvS2 as an HD remake. I want to play it online >_<
If I just wanted to play the game, I would pop my PS2 copy into my PS2.

    • Just Tim

That reminds me of the time when the ONLY playable characters in CvS2 were Sagat and Blanka.

    • Almighty_Omega

      AMEN!

  • Just Tim

    “but not in the West”

…because the US fighting game community is still BUTTHURT about the roll cancel glitch controversy, where the US community BANNED it while Japan allowed it.

    No widescreen support

    NO Online play

just the same half assed versions the PS2 got 12 years ago.

  • Tianyu Wei

Wow… Omg I can’t wait for CvS 3…. I loved it way better than MvC series.
