Report: Bane And Lex Luthor Confirmed For Injustice: Gods Among Us

By Ishaan . January 7, 2013 . 7:15pm

Warner Bros. and Netherrealm Studios have announced Bane and Lex Luthor as playable characters in the upcoming DC crossover fighter Injustice: Gods Among Us. The reveal comes from @Gamer magazine via Comic Book Movie.

Bane is described as a grappling character that uses wrestling-inspired moves and no projectiles whatsoever. He can trigger a Venom pump that makes him more powerful. Meanwhile, Lex fights in an armoured suit, which relies on gadget-based attacks and projectiles.

No surprise on Lex Luthor but Bane would be an awesome addition to the roster. Oh well time to break Batman’s back again with this guy.

P.S. I wonder if the Green Lantern and Joker Gameplay videos are released yet. We got 4 characters gameplay videos to worry about.

aHH I wanted The Dark Knight Rise,Bane

  • IshimaruKaito

it would be nice if they put static shock in this!!

    • puchinri

      It’d also be a nice thing to do for Dwayne McDuffy. ;u;
(Given that he was also credited in the DC Savage movie. Just thinking of other ways to celebrate him and all~.)

    • It’s just “Static.” “Static Shock” was the name of the show, and the comics that spawned after the show jump-started the character’s popularity.

  • puchinri

Those two are kind of a given (major villains for two major heroes), but I want to know whether Cheetah or Giganta are making it in, unless that’s already been stated otherwise. I could think of plenty awesome WW villains for a fighting game, but this isn’t really the fighting game I’d have in mind for them, either.

  • Valtiel Ikari

I’m I the only one that thinks that Lex looks a LOT like Bruce Willis here?

    • Now wait for another batman incarnation that looks like Joseph Gordon Levitt xD

I know there’s already a ton of Batman characters but i want Cassandra or Stephanie Brown in this game. Cassandra would be more likely since DC hates Stephanie for some odd reason.

    • puchinri

Well, it’s really Didio that hates both, but DC as a whole (depending on who it is) generally love them (apparently people have been trying to use both quite a bit recently but are being turned down, which draws much ire and irritation obviously).

  • Muffum

At the risk of reusing a tired line, I feel like every time new characters are revealed, it further reinforces the notion that this game is “Batman Characters vs Other DC Heroes”

Don’t get me wrong, I like Bane, but he wouldn’t have been one of my top picks.

    • Nemesis_Dawn

Batman has all the best villains in DC. i would rather see more Batman villains than lame villains like Mirror Master or D’kay D’razz. There’s a reason why Batman is the one DC comic even Marvel fans will read.

      • puchinri

He doesn’t have all the best, but given the huge spotlight often put on him (and Supes when not on Bats), it’s easy to overlook other villains.

Darkseid, Ares and Vandal Savage are pretty cool villains, and Circe is awesome. There are plenty of villains that are awesome and not of main DC characters or just the lesser known heroes and teams, but DC also tends to forget that anyone other than Bats/Supes and a couple of the Lanterns exist.

        • Nemesis_Dawn

Has nothing to do with him being in the spotlight. Superman is in the spotlight often too and he has horrible villains, with a couple exceptions. As for Batman, the spotlight is put on him BECAUSE he has the best villains. People don’t think he has the best because of the spotlight.

I agree on Darkseid and Circe, but Vandal Savage never did anything for me. If the game needs an immortal villain, I’d prefer they went with Ra’s al Ghul. Actually, I kinda hope Talia ends up in the game too, to be honest (although I would prefer Talia over Ra’s).

Of course, I say this as someone who way prefers Marvel and usually roots for the villains.

          • puchinri

It does. It means we see way more of Batman’s characters and certain creators will favor him and give them more panel time (admittedly, a lot of writers have also been murdering their personality – and more – lately).

The problem is, Ra’s is not a great fighter. He is a fantastic villain, but why do you think he has the Ubu’s? Even Talia isn’t really a fighter by any stretch (and Nyssa would be a better character for that, but she may be too niche).

I prefer Marvel as well, but for very specific reasons and I don’t root for any side, just whichever characters I like the most (which ends up being pretty even anyway).

    • XiaomuArisu

I think the problem is that the Bats villians are even known by non DC readers.
The only Supes villian I know are Luthor and Bizarro Superman…

  • Ben Sylvia

Luthor was inevitable, Bane, while most likely will be awesome to play as, Batman villains are getting repetitive.

  • Kaihedgie

    Still waitin’ for Clayface :U

  • Kurow Akutenshi

Well, at least it’s lucha Bane.

  • neetyneety

Would have liked the Bane from The Batman cartoon. Like how his mouth is a zipper.
