Celestial Flowers Are Taking Over The Netherworld In Disgaea Dimension 2

By Spencer . January 11, 2013 . 2:02am

Laharl is King of the Netherworld, but demons in Disgaea Dimension 2 don’t respect his authority. The King Krichevskoy faction says Laharl isn’t fit to be king. They want to kick him off the throne and replace him with a new king that lives up to Krichevskoy’s legacy.

Barbara, the Krichevskoy faction believes, could be a candidate for the Netherworld throne. She excels in battle especially with a spear. Being born in a knight house, she is known for being loyal to a fault. Barbara doesn’t even think for herself and has to wait for orders before making a move. If she becomes queen of the Netherworld, Barbara will thinks she will be able to do whatever she pleases.

Xenolith is a mysterious demon that tends to push others away with his quiet and introverted personality. Laharl meets him while the two characters are on the Yuwie flower fields.

The netherworld has a big problem in Disgaea Dimension 2 celestial flowers are blooming.

Fields of Yuwie flowers are bringing *gasp* fresh air to the Netherworld! The flowers are rapidly spreading and changing the atmosphere something like Heaven. This catastrophe couldn’t come at a worse time for Laharl who is struggling to maintain his leadership.  Grosso says this is an act of aggression from the angels and since Laharl let this happen he should be dethroned.

What is happening to the Netherworld? Where do these flowers come from? Is this some kind of crazy 7th Dragon 2020 crossover? (We’re kidding about that last one.) Laharl, desperate to calm the masses, decides to settle this problem by using force, but is this really how he feels?

Find out on March 20 when Disgaea Dimension 2 comes out for PlayStation 3.

    That story sounds hawt.

  • So demons can’t stand fresh air? Lol.

    • I wouldn’t be surprised if their sodas are poison and their milkshakes are akin to toxic sludge.

  • HassanJamal

Oh man, I wanna play this game now! How long till it gets localized?!

  • Tenno Seremel

    >Barbara, the Krichevskoy faction believes, could be a candidate for the Netherworld throne. She excels in battle especially with a spear.
Poor Barbara, it’s not too late to run yet.

  • “Is this some kind of crazy 7th Dragon 2020 crossover?”

Oh, snap! Celestia must have genetically modified the Flowaro! Those darn crazy angel scientists!

  • Rival factions and a feisty, yet adorable sister pretender all vying for the throne. And to top it all off, FLOWERS IN GROWING IN THE NETHERWORLD! Definitely reasons for a call to arms and a call for localisation too!

So…. the Celestial Atmosphere is poisonous to Demons? Well i guest that makes sense considering Angel Trainees can’t survive in the netherworld very long without their Pendants. But the wording it used here, does that mean the Human worlds we have seen so far don’t have fresh air XP? Well Gordon’s earth i believe. but Almaz’s world seemed fine. then again we barely see his world.

    • Draparde

its probably not so much harmful as uncomfortable to them. well perhaps harmful to lower ranking demons. (similar to the angel trainee example)

or maybe the thought of something fresh, pretty and stuff just makes them mad lol

It’s entirely likely the latter–In Disgaea 3’s expansion, when you wage an attack on Celestia, Master Big Star–easily the most elegant, refined demon in the game–can’t stomach the peaceful nature of Celestia. If any demon could just ignore it, it’d be him, but he’s the one who comments on how much it bothers him.

        • Draparde

That’s true, i had completely forgotten about that chapter ><

This story actually sounds somewhat intriguing. I just hope they didn’t revert Laharl to how he was at the start of D1, that is – selfish power-hungry maniac. It was funny, sure, but there should be consistency – after all, NIS made best/good ending canon.

I really like how the story sounds so far. I’m sure it will be very entertaining, both funny and tense. Plus they are added so much new to this game it’s rediculously awesome.

Now, I am curious about Rainier. The other 2 are altered versions of other monster classes. Does that mean Rainier is an altered version of a brand new monster? I personally love her look.

    >being considered a good thing
    Disgaea, what happened to you?

Back in my day, the laziest, backstabbingest, most selfish demons were the ones you wanted in charge…
And when was the last time that girl brushed her teeth, huh?
    I bet it was TODAY!
    For shame!

  • XiaomuArisu

    Laharls babysitter?
I bet she knows many embarrasing secretsXD

    • Kitestwinblades

Like why Laharl cant stand sexy bodies or talk of love xD

      • XiaomuArisu

That would actually make some senseXD

  • Anime10121

The drool, it wont stop coming from my mouth!!! God NisA, HURRY UP AND ANNOUNCE THIS! I WANT THIS BAD! OH SO VERY BAD :D

  • TheRealMalek

    ok spoiling flower => flonne

  • juma086

This just keeps getting better and better. I have wanted a sequel to the first game for so long now… im glad at least SOME companies listen to their fans.

  • Hmmmm.. Conspiracy to dethrone Laharl?

Barbara the Demon Knight, dunno if NIS actually gave her that name as a nod to Laharl’s english voice actress, Barbara “Rita Repulsa” Goodson.

  • Göran Isacson

Both Barbara and Xenolith seem so serious… can’t say I find it very interesting, but then again I AM the kind of guy who’s usually all about silly people like Axel.

  • Lester Paredes

LOL! Typical NIS! Only they would think to make flowers blooming into such a threat for the Underworld!
