One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 Reaches North America This Summer [Update]

By Ishaan . January 21, 2013 . 11:00am

We already knew One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 is headed to Europe this summer, but this morning, Namco Bandai confirmed the game for a North American release as well.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 will feature Luffy, Sanji, Zoro and the rest of the Straw Hat, as well as newly playable characters like Eneru. You can read more about the game in our coverage here.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 has only been confirmed for a PlayStation 3 release in North America and Europe. Namco haven’t announced whether or not they plan to bring the PlayStation Vita version of the game over.

Update: Namco Bandai have confirmed to Siliconera that One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 will be a download-only (PlayStation Network) release in North America, just like the first game.

    First ! Woot cant wait

  • Spirit Macardi

Colleen Clinkenbeard and the rest of the Funimation cast please?

    • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Id rather they spend time dubbing Strong World and Film Z and more of the anime instead of the game…I need to know what happens in the rest of Water 7, so good.

      • Spirit Macardi

I’d be willing to bet that the total amount of character dialogue in the game would be just shy of only three episodes-worth at most.

Plus, they dubbed all the DBZ games while that series was still big.

        • MikelAL93

I’ve heard that Koei’s recent budget issues were the reason why DW7: Empires and spinoffs like Warriors Orochi 3, One Piece and Ken’s Rage 2 were released as digital downloads with only the original Japanese voices.

    • JonathanisPrimus

I suspect it’ll be sub-only like the first.

Before we yell doom about no Vita version being announced, do remember that Namco Bandai US announced that they’re releasing MUD: FIM Motocross on Vita on PSN. They could be planning a $50 price tag for OP:PW2 and have the Vita version launch later at $40.

yayyy i been waiting for this thank you namco

  • zferolie

Today is reminding me why I love namco Bandai so much. Sure they make bad mistakes(like not bringing over the tales games), but they still bring over some great games. This, Project X Zone, and the naruto one? awesome

    • phangtom

Well Naruto and One Piece games tend to always get localised due to how big they are.

      • zferolie

Naruto yes, One Piece… not so much. The last one was the last one piece game we got for a few years. Remember, they only released 1 of the Wii games.

As A.J. said, One Piece isn’t always brought over. Romance Dawn, anyone?

  • Manny Being Manny

Now all I need is an Idolmaster announcement and I’ll forever love Namco Bandai.

Only PS3. I asked them in twitter:

    Namco Bandai UK ‏@NamcoBandaiUK
    @tales_of_blank sadly PS3 only.

And we got official confirmation from their U.S. press department, so that settles it for both territories.

  • YoshEE

i hope they aint gonna have it in digital download.

Sorry bro : p to be fair…its not surprising

  • GotoHell

Digital only again? Looks like once again, this game has no chance of success. Whoever decided to bring it over to the US after the first game most likely bombed has a screw loose.

    • AkuLord3

because a game that’s only digital download means it does poorly…the stupid its just drooling off the ceilings!!!

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

    =)

  • Captain_Jiruo

    Well that certainly was expected.

  • Covnam

Guess the first one did well enough to bring it over, but not well enough to spring for a physical release. Maybe I’ll import it this time if there’s enough new content to justify picking it up rather then waiting for the inevitable game 3.

  • kroufonz

looks like importing from eu again then.
