Nice variety of weapons and the enemies look like they’ll definitely get harder later on, I was a bit skeptical because of the demo but this is looking to be great.

  • Kaihedgie

Not particularly impressed with the swords. Sounds like DMC2

    • Ferrick

well the HF sword has been there since MGS2, but i do agree that some of the other swords look kinda dmc2-ish

      • Kaihedgie

I know about the HF Blade

        • Ferrick

well the ones who made this were the ones who made DMC1, so that’s probably why *shrugs*

          • Kaihedgie

Already know that too, but they at least had three completely different weapons

          • Ferrick

three diff weapons ? the ones i know are the sais and the bo staff, what’s the other one ?

          • Kaihedgie

            Referrin’ to DMC1

          • Ferrick

            woops…. my bad…

    • Göran Isacson

Ooooh man, now I just got all sorts of chills. Still I can’t help but agree with you there… the only weapon that looks like it will play differently that I’ve seen so far is Mistrals arm-staff. Sure, I COULD be wrong and the swords are different enough that they’ll be interesting to switch around, but I can’t shake the fear that the swords will basically control the same except one will be slow and strong, one will stun enemies, one will be lighter and quicker and… that’s all. Still, I hope Platinum aren’t THAT lazy.

And hey, at least we can switch weapons on the fly. Was scared we wouldn’t even have THAT for a while there.

    • Dick Mountainjoy

I think these are more meant to be mods to the core weapon than a whole new weapon.

      • Kaihedgie

Nope. The hilts are different, too, so it’s not mods

        • Dick Mountainjoy

When you mod a sword, Hilts would be one of the things you could mod…

          • Kaihedgie

            But it wouldn’t.

          • Dick Mountainjoy

It’s quite simple actually, you remove a hilt, and put a new one on.

They are all HF blades, so of course he would use the same moves with them. Hence the reason the video says “High Frequency Blades”

The different HF Blade types have different effects, Stunning, Armor Break Ect. But they are all modifications of the base HF blade fight style.

          • Kaihedgie

“you remove a hilt, and put a new one on.” Then what’s the point of calling it a mod? It’s a completely different sword now with no elements of the original template.

          • Dick Mountainjoy

It’s still a HF Blade, with a different Hilt.

          • Kaihedgie

Different blade and different hilt. It’s a different weapon now. Not a mod. It’s nothing like the previous weapon other than sharing the same weapon type. They also said “HF Blades”, which still invalidates your original point.

          • Dick Mountainjoy

If you have multiple modifications of the same blade, it would be plural, they are all still modified HF blades, which is why the fight style is the same between them.

          • Kaihedgie

That’s like saying Dante’s swords in DMC2 are all Rebellion despite having completely different shapes, names and attributes

          • Dick Mountainjoy

If they were all called “Rebellions”… sure?

          • Kaihedgie

The other swords are called Vendetta and Merciless

    • Go2hell66

I bet theres gonna be a crap load of sub weapons

  • Ferrick

ROFLMAO died laughing at “authentic civilian disguise”

  • Göran Isacson

Raiden. Raiden what are you doing you are not Danny Trejo. You haven’t EARNED that machete.

  • heartless141

    Authentic Civillian Disguise
    > !

  • Gildohma

    Poncho y Sombrero?? Ay Caramba!

  • Mazdian

Eh, those blades do sound kinda boring, but I’m sure Platinum has more up their sleeves. After all, Bayo had ice skates for weapons and even rocket launchers on her feet. xD Still makes me laugh.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

I’m going for the stun blade. I kind of want to keep doing stylish attacks (and lower the amount of enemies swarming me) then finding the quickest possible way to Zandatsu my enemies.

  • DriftSlave

MGR:R is looking better every trailer, being able to select and upgrade different swords should prove to add some verity and personal style to whoever is playing. Personally I would Like to see new game+ runs with specific weapons and costumes~ haha Full Cyborg Ninja runs? possibilities ~

Gee why don’t give the whole game away Platinum!?

    • http://www.facebook.com/honkerhonk.honkhonky Honkerhonk Honk Honky

Because its the only way of selling games this days? because if you don’t tell people loud and clear” THIS IS WHAT YOU GET, THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO, YES, THIS YOU DAMN CHIMPANZEE, YOU SEE THIS?! NOW YOU DO!” most people just turn away and forget about it?

    • MrSirFeatherFang

To be honest, other publishers do this as well. They basically throw the plot in your face and I would suppose it could get more people’s attention…
