Last month was phenomenal with Darksiders and Megaman 9 & 10. More Megaman love and Vanquish? Oh yeah, Plus was the best investment I made last year.

I guess it’s time for me to attempt Challenge 6 once again!

  • z_merquise

To anyone who haven’t played Vanquish, go get it! You’ll enjoy it!

Holy crap! Vanquish is an amazing game! So is Megaman Maverick Hunter X the only thing I didn’t like was Zero dying in the story.

      • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

Oh you’ll get used to Zero dying if you keep playing the X and Zero series.

Not that I feel concerned, but please keep spoilers for yourselves guys.

Heheh, Spoiler: Zero’s real name is Kenny.

  • LustEnvy

YES! I’ve been wanting to play Vanquish for AGES. Loved the demo, but I didn’t wanna pay so much for a 5 hour game. This is perfect.

    • thaKingRocka

So much? The game was phenomenal and it has been available at very low prices for a very long time. Regardless, quality over quantity. Vanquish is top notch and would be worth every penny if the tag still read sixty bucks.

      • LustEnvy

I don’t buy games unless they are very lengthy (JRPGs), or have lots of replayability (multiplayer shooters, etc). I don’t tend to go through many runs on games. 5 hours is too short for $20, IMO.

I rent short games, but Vanquish wasn’t ever available.

        • thaKingRocka

I consider Vanquish to be highly replayable. Mastery offers the ultimate replayablity. Score and speed are kings. It doesn’t have to be only five hours.

        • shion16

Vanquish is a real challenge, its not an easy game that you complete and then you just forget it.
Its like megaman games for the NES, its not about the length, its about the challenge.

          • thaKingRocka

and the sheer joy of playing it.

  • Zonic505

Looking forward to getting Vanquish. Completely recommend Maverick Hunter X if you liked the original Mega Man X.

  • EmptyWarrior

Vanquish was one of those titles I was always interested in playing but never got around to picking up a copy. So happy that I have PS+!

You can’t say no to Vanquish if it’s free. Go for it, you’ll won’t regret it.

  • Demeanor

Vanquish is awesome! Too bad the tactical challenges are so HELL, I got pounded repeatedly on the very first XD remember to light a cig when you’re being bombarded with homing lasers by a 10m tall giant robot in a space station engulfed by all-out mech war XD

My Plus ends on Wed so It looks like I have 1 day to play and beat Vanquish. Mission accepted.

    • http://s1.zetaboards.com/Espada_of_Alexandria/index/ konpon568

Mine ends on Thursday. And before you ask, no, I don’t know why I felt like I had to reply either.

  • almostautumn

Shoot! This is the first time since I got PS+ that I already own/played through the free retail-games completely (or at least on PS3, having been an xbox-user in the past).
Still cool. Vanquish is, in my opinion, the second best of Platinum’s offerings, and is just an excellent game that offers what is truly unique and inspiring gameplay design for the shooter genre. Also, unlike most modern games, Vanquish actually upholds the meaning of “Hard” difficulty, which is just extremely refreshing.
And MMX— duh! Personally I didn’t like the new art-direction in comparison to the SNES title, but it still looks sleek and crisp. Really cool game, but for anyone who played the original spotting the differences between the two is just a delightful, nerdy treat throughout.

Two epic games right here! Maverick Hunter X is also pretty famous for expanding X’s character (alongside that OVA)

  • shion16

I bought Vanquish the day it was released, my friends said i was a fool.
But i wasnt , that day i found a underrated masterpiece
And until today one of the best and my favourite games of PS3 (along with VC)

yes , my friend , you did the right thing . Vanquish is awesome , that why i never listen to the critic anymore , the thing they said and the feeling i have when i played Vanquish are Hell and Heaven . I can’t just understand why Western critic often give the japan game developer low point , while they are the most amazing game i ever play in my life ?

    • Tom

I know another underrated game for the PS3 that turned out to be an awesome game. Nier. I don’t know if you’re into that kind of game but I found it charming, it kept me thinking about it for weeks after finishing it. I did almost all side quests and never felt like they were chores. Awesome game!

  • heartless141

shiiiii– marverick hunter X? I like SCEA’s taste!

  • Göran Isacson

So gonna push some of my friends to try these out. Funny part is I kinda like how these two are semi sort-of thematically the same: I can TOTALLY see Vanquish as sporting mechanics a truly 3D Megaman X game could have. Sure, there would have to be better platforming, but the speed and gunning? I kinda thought that was really Megaman-esque.

  • Tom

The story of Vanquish is mediocre. But the gameplay is outstanding so the whole game becomes just pure awesomeness!
