Uncharted 3’s multiplayer mode is going free-to-play as of today, Sony have announced. You’ll be able to download the free-to-play game off the PlayStation Network and play as much as you want, up to level 15.

Beyond level 15, you’ll still be able to play further but you won’t level up. Sony will record your experience without allowing you to access it, and retroactively add your achievements to your character, once you unlock the level cap. Here’s a full list of things you can buy individually on top of the basic free-to-play game:

  • Multiplayer Co-op Adventure Add On – Unlocks Co-Op Adventure mode including the Fort Adventure DLC
  • Multiplayer Co-op Arena Add On – Unlocks to gain access to the Co-Op Arena Playlist including the Co-Op Shade Survival Mode DLC.
  • Multiplayer Competitive MP (No Level Limit) – Removes the level cap.
  • Multiplayer Competitive MP (Level 25 Limit) – Removes the Level 15 cap and allows you to play up to Level 25
  • Multiplayer Split Screen Add On – Unlocks Co-Op Adventure mode including the Fort Adventure DLC
  • Map Packs – Unlocks all three DLC map packs. Includes Flashback Map Pack 1, Flashback Map Pack 2, and Drake’s Deception Map Pack
  • Drake’s Deception Single Player Experience – Unlocks the Single Player campaign

I love Uncharted 3 MP. If anyone wants to play with me, add “DesmaBR” on psn

  • RadShiro

    Huh.

    That’s actually kinda cool.

I’ve been meaning to pick this game up for ages, but it’s cool that I’ll be able to get the MP free for now. I was in the beta ages ago and loved it, so this is nice. Sony did this with KZ3 too and that was fun.

    wow…. nice move Sony

I guess they really are trying push Free To Play on their consoles and that works for me.

Now they just need to get Sega to localize PSO2 on Vita….

    • Edzo

i think we are gonna get screwed by sega on the vita version.

    Well played~!

In addition to exposing more people to the franchise, I think more of this might actually make all the “online pass” BS more tolerable. If you buy the game used or rent it, you might not be able to play with your friends online day-1 without paying extra, but you’ll at least have the option to wait for it to go free.

My sentiments exactly. Hopefully this means they’ll also discount some of the DLC or make it free seeing as how they did go overkill trying to be like TF2.

Enter the SP from MP, this is surprisingly cool move from Sony. It’s like the F2P a prolonged demo, exposing the players to “Uncharted” until they want more.

  • MrRobbyM

Wait. Does that mean II’ll finally be able to platinum the game? I borrowed the game from a friend so the online pass code obviously didnt workl
