Disgaea Dimension 2’s Demon Dojo And Mysterious Angel

By Spencer . March 7, 2013 . 1:43am

Well, get this out of the way first – Asagi has a cameo in Disgaea Dimension 2: A Brighter Darkness where she is a super idol that sings and dances. Nippon Ichi Software also made a new character whose name has not been revealed. The girl in the pink costume is an angel with white wings and a gaudy pink outfit. Sicily, Laharl’s sister who also happens to be an angel, says she looks like Pure Pink from the Angel Squadron Pure Seven group.

Asagi makes her debut as a super idol with the song "Rockin’ Princess" in Disgaea Dimension 2.

One of the new features in Disgaea Dimension 2: A Brighter Darkness is the Demon Dojo where you can train characters. The Demon Dojo has three rooms one that trains player’s physical and mental state, another for attack techniques and weapons, and a room made for magic users. You can choose which training room you want to go to.

Players can train here to increase their attack power so you can deal more damage in battle

This painful training exercise increases your defense.

Laharl can also train to increase the amount of experience points he gets.

Concentrating by standing underneath a waterfall erases your desire and interestingly makes it easier to get rewards after a battle is over.

Those cauldrons are filled with pheromones which are said to make you popular the next day. Use these and you should be able to boost how other characters like Laharl.

The Dark Congress returns in Disgaea Dimension 2. Just like other games you pick a bill you want to pass, then select a character to petition to change the kinds of items available or add advanced classes. You can bribe senators before a vote and if the vote doesn’t go your way you can persuade the demon congress with force. As a last resort, if you’re loaded you can give HL to force your bill to pass.

Standing under a waterfall increases the ease of getting items by erasing your desires?

The netherworld must have a desire sensor too. lol

    • Sheimi12

      I know that feeling… I know it well…

  • You gotta love Defensive training.

  • Shariest

More EXP? People are going to grind the ‘ell out of that ;D

  • Methylene

Persuasion by force via money? You have no idea how this makes me happy!

There just comes a time late in the game where fighting the senate becomes dull and a big waste of time, especially when you can one shot them. Hopefully, this will make it faster.

    • Wappuli

Totally agree, hopefully this will give money atleast some meaning in the post game.

    • Agreed, one of the worst things eventually is trying to fight those senators. I wonder if they’ll return that mechanic where if you beat Baal in Disgaea 1, the senators all automatically agree to anything you say? I know that was something in 1.

  • komiko12

Not a fan of the pink angel. Asagi’s art looks great as always.
I hope that the stat increase these Dojos give is worth it.

  • Alternate dimension prism ranger Angel Flonne (guessing).

  • Saculogir

Oh man, I’m totally getting precure vibes from that angel and I love it <3

  • Alex Hawrylyshyn

New Disgaea and new Pokemon both coming out in the fall? Might as well quit my job.

  • Asuna Ilano

    oh asagi, *sniff* *sniff*
    when will your star shine?

    • Hopefully never. Just like so many other characters, she is a perfect side character. Due to being a side character, she can be in any game NIS wants to put her in, without feeling out of place. If she becomes a main character, she loses a lot of that ability.

  • Ayaka

The Kizuna-rank system is getting really popular, nice addition.

Well now we know for sure there’s Asagi, that’s probably the best method they had to make me feel even more happy about buying this game. Now if I can see some Pleinair screens too, that will be fabulous. C’mon NIS, fork’em over.

“This painful training exercise increases your defense. ”

    So it’s useless?

    Can’t wait for this game

I watched my friend play Disgaea 3 on the PS Vita, and he was like ‘This is how it goes’, and proceeded to wipe out the entire map using 2 attacks. Did not give me a good impression at all, if characters are pretty much ALL glass cannons.

      • DesmaX

That’s post-game for you. You’re not going to do that in the main story, anyway

      • Disgaea games are always 2 different games. Story mode, assuming you don’t choose to power level in the item world, is a normal strategy rpg, save that most fights you can win with 1 character who is more leveled up than the rest, with a few needing 2 or 3 characters, like a healer and another damage dealer. Having a bit of character variety is good though, to help out at different times, or you can just play it normally and level up 10 people to keep challenge consistent and enjoyable.

Then you have post story game, which is basically 80 percent of a Disgaea game. Thats where ridiculously powered bosses come into play, item leveling, optional character hunting, pirate hunting, reverse world plowing, and a bunch of other things. I Haven’t played a Disgaea yet that wasn’t worth the cash on release.

  • MrRobbyM

    God I love Disgaea art.

  • Kevin Lor

    I can’t wait anymore!!

  • Suriel Cruz

Any Disgaea D2 NEWS is GREAT NEWS! That Pink costume Angel, sounds like some kind of Prism Girls Rangers.

  • Adol Christin

Its keeps getting better and better :)

  • alixraen

Asagi is the new Axel >_>

Also glad to see a new angel, always thought Disgaea could have used at least one more.

    • Mid-boss was the orginal Axel.

      • alixraen

Mid-boss didn’t make an attempt at rock-stardom, is the connection I’m attempting to make here.

  • Raltrios

Dip Laharl in the Cauldron. Get the ladies.
Dip Lady Laharl in the Cauldron. Get the EVERYBODY.

  • Raharu95

Is it true that monster mounts replaced magichange in this game? That what I heard somewhere…

    • burnfist23

That’s what it seems like more or less. Haven’t seen any magichanged weapons and piggybacked monsters seem come with unique skills much like magichange skills.

  • Warboss Aohd

i hope when dey say “Rockin’ Princess” meanz no J-Pop.

  • Hound

Oh wow, they added a lot of new gimmicks. I haven’t been this excited for a Disgaea for years.
Hopefully they hike the difficulty, add more new game+ benefits to early story chapters (branching if you can beat something uber powerful early on would be amazing), and add some more strategy elements (rather than the attack gimmicks of 3 and 4.) I’d buy it day one.

    • Know what you mean. I enjoyed winning that fight in Disgaea 1 which had you surrounded by all the monsters trying to finish off Laharl. Couldn’t beat it without being higher level than the story required. Having a new branch of storyline travel off that choice would be a lot of fun.

  • Alex DC Webbs

Loving the new editions so far but what the series needs is decent bad endings which were lacking Disgaea 4. In Disgaea you could get Flonne to turn on you and Etna to betray which gave the story more impact and more direction. Also you can hilariously invade the human world in Disgaea that was great fun. Or become completely evil and take on everyone as Mao in Disgaea 3 and honestly the amount they laid into poor Mao the support cast kind of had it comming to them.

D4 was best gameplay wise but Val was a really overrated and boring main and the story was meh and no decent side or bad endings and the actual ending to the story was really bad. Otherwise a really solid game the mechanics were vastly superior to D 3 epecially the different effects of each building on the campaign board.

Disgaea in terms of story and cast is a high hurdle to beat the cast already seems pretty solid for D2 and the gamplay looks excellent the only question now is can the story match the epicness that is the original Disgaea? Would import raw but don’t have the cash to splash.
