Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles Of Mystara Brings The Classics To PSN, XBLA, PC, Wii U

Capcom confirmed what Siliconera announced last week – ports of the Dungeons & Dragons arcade games Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara and Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom are coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. At PAX East, Capcom announced the compilation as Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara which is in development for PC and Wii U too. Iron Galaxy, the studio that handled Darkstalkers Resurrection and Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, is handling the work.

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara uses GGPO netcode and supports up to four players online. The game has drop-in/drop-out co-op and a new "House Rules" feature that allows players to alter the game mechanics. At the World of Capcom panel, Capcom explained one option turns arcade mode into time attack mode where you have to defeat enemies to build up the clock. "Hedgehog mode" has players lose life instead of money. Other options makes the game easier or harder.

A new character visualizer lets players see which characters they and their friends use most often so you can create a balanced party. Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara has challenges just like Iron Galaxy’s arcade ports which unlock items in the Vault. The Wii U version uses the GamePad’s touch screen to let players select loot and spells.

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara will be released in June for $14.99.

    Capcom what happened ?
I used to hate you and your wannabe western games.
But now youre suddenly becoming more and more awesome.

They got smacked around and their whole company probably works in something like small fiefdoms of different groups within a larger complex company working on different titles individually. Though they have an overall general goal to achieve, each smaller subsection works on different projects and might apply their own personal goals… Is my very pulled-out-of-mah-ass guess. Add the general feedback and need to clean up their public image. It’s just good to see they’re doing something that rekindles a lot of faith.

  • First, definitely glad to see WiiU and PC support for this one. :D For a while we were only seeing these Capcom arcade releases on MS / Sony consoles, so it’s nice to know Capcom is working to change that!

Second, I could see that spell selection being EXCELLENT with the Magic User. It was always a pain in the ass cycling through three sets of wheels for the right spell at the moment! D:

Damn its on everything isn’t it? I think I’ll get it on psn and wiiU. PC actually might have the least amount of people on it for reasons I won’t mention but psn and xbox will have it poppin with players.

  • Zarx

Sick, couple of my favorite beat em ups with GGPO online multiplayer. Now if only we got Red Earth/War-Zard as well.

    • Göran Isacson

Oooh, definitely agreeing on War-Zard. I’ve wanted to play that game ever since I first saw there was a gigantic dragon T-Rex in it.

Getting this because I loved em back in the day.

Wow! I am certainly glad I’ve held off on paying the exorbitant price ebay sellers want for the Sega Saturn port of these games. Plus a Wii U port is just icing on the cake.
