Is Harley Quinn One Of The Good Guys In Injustice: Gods Among Us?

By Ishaan . March 22, 2013 . 12:50pm

Warner Bros. have released a new trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us, this one focusing on Harley Quinn, who seems to be out from under the influence of the Joker. The trailer makes it sound like the Joker has disappeared, and Harley’s one of the good guys now (but apparently still operating on her own?). What it below:

Injustice: Gods Among Us will be released on April 16th in the U.S. and April 19th in Europe.

Ok, that Scarecrow bit looked great

I like this. One of the things i never liked about the Joker was how controlling and manipulative he was when it came to his interactions with Harley. It was the perfect example of an abusive relationship, and I like that this Harley is a variation of her character who was able to get away from him and become a better person since he was no longer around.

And the fact that with his return, instead of going back to him like she usually would, shes determined to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Which is what was great and dumb about the BoP before the nu52, shortly before. It started on a good track to her finally breaking away and doing justice to herself (and choosing Ivy instead), but the writer apparently didn’t know what to do/didn’t want to break tradition.

  • The Joker hasn’t exactly disappeared. Joker was killed by Superman in the comic prequel that leads up to this. Harley Quinn was captured by Green Arrow and most likely reformed to fit the new system which has propelled Batman and Superman as the 2 major icons on each side of this “war” going on. Also, the Joker that was killed is apparently not the same one in the game. To me, the story is pretty crappy so far in the comics. Pre-ordering, or at least the collectors edition gets you the entire comic prequel though.

You might want to throw on a good spoiler tag/note. We don’t entirely know how the game will reveal or keep this a secret in its plot, and throwing all that out here could ruin some of this for certain people.

But agreed, the comic feels too extreme and far-fetched, and just doesn’t have good writing or direction. Also, everyone is way too OoC.

I really like this Harley Quinn. I felt they should of had this one as the 52 Quinn instead of the one in the Suicide Squad.

  • Göran Isacson

Okay Netherrealm. You’ve fridged Lois Lane and made everything super grim-dark. You’ve cleaned the slate, you can do new things. Make this change STICK. That’s all I ask. It would be interesting to honestly, truly see Harley Quinn on her own. Sans Joker. Not going back. Do this, and I will concede there is SOME merit to this ridiculous plot.

…Isn’t that pretty much what the New 52 is doing already?

      • puchinri

The comic for this has actually gone beyond what the nu52 does to an extent, which is impressive in a sad way.

      • Göran Isacson

So I have heard, but I can’t say that I am superfond of the quality in… well, MOST of the new 52 soo I can’t say I’m very hyped for most of what goes down there. Like that Harley is moving away from the Joker, don’t really know if I buy her and the guy she’s shacking up with there.

    • puchinri

Agreed. I kind of can’t forgive her part in everything, and the comic just makes my head ache and spin, but they have a chance to up the comic in story quality.

      • Göran Isacson

A chance I hope they take… but when I hear how shaky she sounds when she says her lines, I kinda wonder if they’re going to spin her as trying to convince herself, and then when the chips are down she’ll go right back to Mistah Jay… again.

        • puchinri

Hmm. Yeahhh. That’d make me sigh, but I guess it’d also be fitting. At least, it’d be picking up from where she left off before the nu52. Her trying to convince herself could be played well, I just wish they did it less (and it means she eventually would stay the hell away from him).

ok, I actually like this idea, Harley breaking free from Joker and becoming a hero, that would actually be a great addition to the comic universe!

  • Hawks

If she is, Id totally still hit it.

  • Yep, it’s a fake Joker. How do I know that? The real Joker is inmune to Scarecrow’s chemicals. And even if he wasn’t, there is only one man he legitimately fears: The Creeper! If you think otherwise… Well, my friend, YOU. ARE. WRONG!

    • Testsubject909

I don’t follow the comics so I don’t know. As such I’ll just have to trust your words until I’m given more information that may prove what you told me to be debatable or otherwise false.

      • The way I wrote the comment was as a reference to The Creeper’s true identity: Jack Ryder, who himself has his own TV show called “You are wrong!”. If you can, try to find the B:TAS episode “Beware the Creeper” on Youtube!

      • Mister_Nep

It’s been established multiple times that joker is immune to Scarecrow’s fear gas. I’ve seen one comic where he inhaled it like he was puffing a smoke. Similar to the way the dentist inhaled the laughing gas in Little Shop of Horrors.

      • puchinri

I don’t know if being canon even counts since the continuity for this is way skewed even for what DC normally tries with a lot of these characters.

  • Crevox

    What it below

  • puchinri

I kind of can’t buy her being a good guy given what she very willingly took part in (as far as the comic’s backstory), but I do love Harley, so. . .

  • MaskMask

Bah, I want a good Joker already, like Jokester one of the alternate dimension’s Joker. Think he goes by Jester in one of the cartoon movies.
