Tales of Xillia Collector’s Edition Includes Milla Figurine And Art Book

By Ishaan . April 11, 2013 . 9:50am

Tales of Xillia is getting a collector’s edition in North America and Europe, Namco Bandai have announced.

The collector’s edition will come in limited edition packaging and will include the game, a Milla Maxwell figurine, a 100-page art book and a music CD.

The Tales of Xillia collector’s edition will cost $99.99 in North America and €99.99/£85.99 in Europe. Meanwhile, the regular game will cost $60 in North America. Namco will release the RPG on August 6th in North America and August 9th in Europe.

You’ll be able to pre-order the Tales of Xillia collector’s edition from “participating retailers” in North America. In Europe, the collector’s edition is up for pre-order at Namco’s Tales store. Only 10,000 copies will be available at the online store.

Gotta know who’s participating in Canada right now!

    Must preorder!

    • KingGunblader

Word. I really, really want this.

    • Renzouri

I’m placing my bet it would be EB Games still.

    • ShadowDivz

Im guessing Gamestop, it usually is.

      • YoshEE

Well time to wait for GameStop to put up the Collectors edition.

        • ShadowDivz

Man, not having a job blows.
          I want this but i also want Muramasa’s L.E.
Mainly, because i want a pouch for my vita.(dust protection and whatnot)

      • Stylience

This might be a Namdai club exclusive like what they did with Ninja Storm 3.

  • Arcm

    One word WOOT!!

  • Go2hell66

    Ah fack $100!

    • ShadowDivz

I know… Maybe, if it was just the figurine OR just the artbook it would be like 70$ but since it’s both. But damn, not sure if i want to spend 100$

On the other hand, im freakin’ all about collecting artbooks. I have the Okami one, P3 and Ar tonelico.

  • Barrylocke89

Wow, wasn’t expecting that from you at all Bamco America. The 100 page artbook would have been impressive enough but a figurine too? *claps*

    • Foryth

That big box itself is rather enticing as well I must say. (I kind of want to see that thing on my shelf I think.)

    • Barrylocke89

maybe, but for 40 bucks more with the game (+the nice sized artbook and cd) I think Namco-Bandai did pretty good.

    • lol, if we got the ALter figure, we’d be buying the Collector’s Edition for at LEAST $150 instead. Alter figs usually go for $100(+/-) on their own.

    • Ladius

Yeah, but hoping to have that kind of action figure bundled with a limited edition is highly unrealistic, not to mention the price would likely skyrocket.

    • Already have the Alter and the mini Nendo. Would rather have a new figure (even if it’s not as well made) and keep the price reasonable on the CE ^__^

  • puchinri

That’s pretty cool. The extra $40 isn’t bad either.
Since I’m still a bit burned from Ni no Kuni though, I’ll probably pre-order with a retailer.

Also quite fortunate that the game is releasing in August (yay, saving up money!) but at the same time, I probably won’t get to play much.

    • Yeah I agree with you puchinri. The Ni No Kuni online fiasco is going to have an impact on people ordering this game from the NB website. I am just surprised that were actually getting a Tales collectors edition for the first time in NA. I’m seriously stoked to get this that I’ll probably but two of them to show my full support.

      • puchinri

Yeah, I’m only going to be at comfortable if I know Digital River isn’t involved again, but even then, I’m a bit wary.

I’ll definitely get the CE, and I would get two if I had the finances.

  • Nikokuno
    • Ladius

It will be sold in all European markets, in fact it will probably be the only edition available at launch, just as Graces f’s Day One edition was.

      • Nikokuno

Hmm it’s okay. I thought it was a sort of excluvise package ’cause there was nothing on Amazon.co.uk yesterday

  • soulz

OMG!! A tales collectors edition!? I had almost lost faith in those after the vesperia one.

  • Tiael

    Oh yeah, awesome.
Now to figure out where these select retailers are, and I’m pre-ordering immediately online.

Thank goodness for my new credit card.

  • Proliferation Diode

    No word on Australia?

  • Zonic505

Wow, not that bad of a price considering the content, plus it sounds like it won’t just be limited to Namco’s online store this time around, which I’m sure makes a lot of people happy.

  • ShadowDivz

Man an Artbook,a figurine AND an OST is so tempting….
100$ seems alot but considering all we are getting, it seems reasonable to me.

  • How come there is no option to pre-order for North America right now on the N.A. site? (Sadface) =(

  • Tiael

Now the Tales EU Twitter is saying the CE is exclusive only to Europe, what the fack.

    • creid8

Can’t be right. The image above has an ESRB (tentative) rating.

Though it also uses the old Namco logo instead of Namco Bandai. Very weird.

      • Lisa Charity

I think it may be photo-shopped.

        • creid8

Yeah, it would be helpful if Siliconera posted a link to their source.

    • @facebook-1417567402:disqus @creid8:disqus @facebook-603005363:disqus You guys need to chill the hell out. Namco Bandai US and Europe put out press releases for this thing. Why in god’s name would we Photoshop an ESRB logo onto a European box? Do we look like a site that spreads misinformation?

    • They probably mean the ‘Day-1’ edition is exclusive to Europe. I’d be suprised if you guys didn’t get this too.

  • Yggdr5

I’m not all that impressed and would have preferred the japanese voice track in the regular game over this special edition by far.
But even the special edition is basically just 40$/€ for the figure. “Music selection CD” meant 2 tracks for Ni no Kuni’s CD and won’t be a full fledged OST here either. Heck even the European Day One Edition of Tales of Graces f didn’t even feature the opening song.
And the art book or rather art booklet is the size of a Bluray. You’re not even able to really appreciate the art like that.

    • raymk

Yeah Yeah, people complain about anything these days.

      • Yggdr5

I think I can complain about it, after all it’s not free it’s additional 40€ (52$). And if you ever bought a “special edition” with a bluray sized “art book” you know that those don’t have any visual impact or value at all. And why be stingy and not just include the whole OST? It’s the god damn special edition, it’s not like you’re giving it away for free with every copy of the game, we pay money for this.
Sorry if I’d like to have actual value for my money, I must be one of those “entitled” persons you read so much about nowadays.

        • I agree with the OST thing, sound selections always make me sad, I’d pay a little extra for the whole OST. Same with the artbooks, usually they are a bit underwhelming and look cheap. I’m hoping this one is made as nice as the Wizard’s Companion. However despite that the main thing in this box is the Milla statue. I think that more than covers the extra money when you consider how much gaming statues go for these days. As for Japanese audio, I do get a bit tired of people going on about how they have to have it. English VAs may not be perfect but I’m just happy to be able to understand them. Why not try learning Japanese and play a Japanese copy of the game if you’re so annoyed about it?

    • Luna Kazemaru

So are you just going to complain all day?

      • Yggdr5

Not really, I also asked Namco’s various Twitter accounts multiple times if the Japanese audio track might be available as DLC, etc. but so far to no avail.

    • Sentsuizan_93

The Tales series never had dual audio to begin with, so why moan about it here?. Seriously, I’ve been hearing that dual audio excuse enough times to last a generation….

      • Yggdr5

So it was always missing so it’s not ok to demand it not being removed this time? Got it, demanding uncut versions is also being entitled, thanks for clearing this up.

        • Sentsuizan_93

It wouldn’t hurt to ask nicely for them (in a reasonable manner that is – and I should really emphasize the “nicely” part), but if they say there wont be dubs, then there wont be dubs. Simple as that. Don’t hold a pointless grudge because of a decision like no dual audio. But if you REALLY want Japanese dubs so badly, then either import it, or be a god damn idiot and hack your PS3 for an “undub”. I wouldn’t go for the latter as you would lose your online play and your access to PSN. But either way, no one is stopping you.

    • Ladius

This is really uncalled for, those European Day One editions are sold at the same price as regular copies, and their extras are a free incentive to preorder, not some cheap contents they’re charging you to buy.

Other publishers would sell those Day One packages as Limited edition with a steeper price, and still it would be perfectly in line with what most jrpg publisher usually do. What you say could make sense if other publishers were offering full fledged artbooks or complete OSTs in every first print copy of their games, which isn’t the case.

    • I would be just fine with the japanese voice track. But that will never happen. Licenses, costs and blablablabla. I’ll just grab my japanese version and play it when I want to hear Milla’s jp voice.

  • where can I buy this in europe?!

  • Ty Austin

    *Throws money at monitor*

    • TheInternetNomad

      is it working???

I threw coins, and now my screen is cracked.

  • Jordan Coleman

Wish they would ditch the stupid toy and just give us a beefy artbook. Not sure if this will be worth $100 to me when really all I want from it and CE in general is an artbook.

    • Keichi Morisato

that isn’t a toy, it’s a figurine. toys are things you play with, figurines are more like sculptures made out of plastic and mass produced.

      • Jordan Coleman

Let me guess, you also got mad when people used the word doll and not “action figure”.

Who cares? Fine it’s a “figurine” and a cheap looking one at that.

        • Keichi Morisato

it’s made out of plastic, what do you expect? most figurines look like this, and this one is pretty good.

  • zferolie

Oh sweet! Time to go to gamestop and make mine a limited addition!

  • transferstudentx

holy wow this well be my 2nd import after buying persona 4 solid gold i mean comn an 100 page artbook a soundtrack and a figure am i dreaming

  • KingGunblader

I just wanted to take a second to congratulate Namco on this. I wasn’t expecting a CE at all, let alone with a 100 page artbook, soundtrack CD, figurine, and the pre-order DLC.

Well done, guys. This game better sell buckets.

    • I’ll make sure to at least get a CE and then maybe even pick up a regular copy! Namco Bandai needs to know that we truly do want these releases!

  • r0gamer940

    what store in the us?

    • Curan_Altea

I don’t think it’s up anywhere yet, but I’d assume Amazon and/or gamestop.

  • FX102A

We effectively got 2 versions in Europe, this one and a Day 1 edition if preordered. I think the only difference with the Day 1 is that it includes a Steelbook so if you want it all (like me), be prepared to Double Dip.

    • Oh damn, I didn’t realise the Day 1 edition had the steelbook… I guess that’s two copies for me as well >.<

  • John Esteves

    • raymk

No! I’m taking out my debit card which isn’t kept in my wallet.

      • And I am taking out my amazon gift card. Also not in my wallet.

    • Jordan

Pfft, I already saved up and already waiting to spend my money on this. Ooohoho I cannot wait for this game!

  • transferstudentx

shut up and take my money plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • I’ll try to get this~

    For the figurine, obviously. <3

  • transferstudentx

wait so 2 versions in Europe the collectors edition and day 1 which one should i get ?

    • Day 1 edition is standard retail price. CE has a few extras (most notably the Milla statue) but at a much steeper price. Depends if you want the Milla statue really.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Tempting, so very tempting, but after that Ni no Kuni incident, I’m skeptical.

    • raymk

      What happened with that?

      • katzedan

I’ve heard that they cancelled the preorders of a lot of people who have ordered the “Ni no Kuni Wizard’s Edition”.

Even for people who payed in advance for this! :S

        • raymk

Wow! That had to suck, but as long as I pre-order early I shouldn’t have a problem.

          • MrSirFeatherFang

It happened to me and I immediately preordered as soon as it was available to preorder last summer :(
Luckily after a few phone calls I was able to place another order…

    • Ladius

NnK’s Limited was handled directly by Namco’s store through DigitalRivers, while Xillia’s will be sold through multiple retailers. There’s really no reason to fear the worst.

      • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

I realized that after reading it again but thanks for the clarification. At least Gamestop and Amazon have never cancelled a pre-order on me and took forever and a half to explain why.

  • cedx123

Aw shoot my wallet is spend from the LE from Neptunia V, since in its a CE hopefully it won’t sell out soon. Since my birthday is in may I should have 100$ by then but anyway nice job Namco!

    • C.C.

They don’t charge you until it get shipped…

  • raymk

I’m getting this for sure! They are on a roll with these collectors edition.

  • I want the 100-page artbook and CD, but I don’t really want the figurine.

    • Barrylocke89

Step 1: Buy the collector’s edition
Step 2: Wait a couple months
Step 3: Put the figurine up on ebay for about 20+ bucks
      Step 4: ????
Step 5: Profit!! (or at least cover some of the cost of the collector’s edition)

All joking aside, that’s probably the best way to do it if you don’t have a bud that’d want the figurine.

      • That’s true, but I’d probably stick to a standard.

  • artemisthemp

    I just brought the CE

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    :O collector’s edition $100? ahhh hahahah mmmm

  • Learii

no thx too much for me i also want other games too

  • Lisa Charity

Proof? Link? Considering that the NA link on the site isn’t working, I’m not going to believe the release in NA

    • Ladius

The photo clearly shows the Collector box with an ESRB (American) rating, while the European edition has a PEGI one.

    • Well we were at the Namco Bandai press event in the US where it was revealed and interviewed Hideo Baba. I mean is being there enough proof?

  • Repede91

It’s not the really nice Alter figure I was hoping for; but the one included is still cool. I’ll preorder this when GameStop updates their listings.

    • But the Alter figure costs more than the whole CE on its own. Imagine the price if that were included!

      • Repede91

True; but in a world where $150 collectors editions are fairly common my hopes aren`t too far fetched.

  • Bobby Jennings

Chances is Gamestop won’t have this one…unless they have some kind of partnership with namco right? They’ll probably just make us get it from their store.

  • Bernd

It’s probably some simple Sega Price-level figure, but still, that’s nice. Bamco is really going all-out with their special editions recently.

    • Claud12

it looks like Alter figure and those are super expensive. Milla one goes for like £80+

  • Ephidiel

damn preorder sites all requiring shitty creditcards

    • C.C.

I don’t have a paypal or a credit card and I was still able to preordered it.

      • Ephidiel

        hmm how then?

  • Jet Black King

Hopefully this doesn’t end up like the wizard’s edition fiasco. Because of that I almost lost my money for ni no kuni.

  • FlamingFirewire

Can’t find any online retailers who are selling the LE in North America yet, I hope they update their listings fast – we all know this is going to sell out like Ni No Kuni LE

  • Nathaniel Ramsammy

if only it listed where in NA i could preorder

  • C.C.

    It cost £79.99
    Preordered :)
I already got the japanese version, here comes my 3rd playthrough :D

  • fireemblembeast

This is great news! I’d gladly drop an extra $39 for this [s] and I’d GLADLY spend money to have dual audio-edition [/s] I wonder if we’ll also get downloadable costumes!

  • YoshEE

OMFG I MUST PREORDER SOON!!!!! So worth it :D

  • Neppygear

Ha ha… the official store thing doesn’t send to my country…

  • August 6th? That’s 4 days before my birthday!

  • FX102A

Little bit worried that I haven’t received a confirmation email for my European Collector’s Edition. Tried again but got told that I’d already placed an order (so something went through).

Any other Europeans here who have preordered got an email?

    • Somazu

I also haven’t received an email yet either. Although the message displayed after ordering stated that the pre-order was accepted.

      • FX102A

I really regret not Print Screening that page. Hopefully I’ll get a reply from the EU NB rep on Twitter tomorrow.

    • I’ve print screened the page but I haven’t got an email either. Interesting to know that you can’t place more than one order though.

    • Claud12

      I got an e-mail right after I pre-ordered :) which was at 00:15

  • Belphegor

Is the art book 100 pages? The images released of the Day one collection state its only 52…

  • Sesshomaru

Meh. I already have a statue of her.

  • Ladius

I just preordered my copy of the LE, it’s a pleasure to see Namco attempting to make Tales of Xillia into a successful, relevant release.

They’ve done a lot of marketing and visited many conventions to promote the game, the August release date is smart and puts the game outside of the crowded Q4 window, the European release date is barely different from the US’ (compare that with Vesperia’s one year delay and Graces f’s five months) despite Xillia being a Multi 5 release, the Day One edition is a great way to make people preorder your game and the LE is quite compelling.

Between Graces f, Ni no Kuni, Xillia, Project X Zone and Time and Eternity’s partnership with NISA they’re really doing a great job for us jrpg fans, and I hope their efforts pay off in full.

  • r0gamer940

where can I pre-order it in the U.S please tell me. Its seems gamestop has not updated their systems yet (assuming the retailer is gamestop). If it was their store would they not just say it?

    • Ladius

The US retailers will probably put up a page for Xillia’s Limited Edition in the upcoming days, don’t worry.

  • Somazu

Oh nice! The European release is the 9th of august, the same week as the North american release. I’m glad there is no delay between us for this. Pre-ordered this LE!

    • Ladius

Yeah, it’s a major improvement considering Europe had to wait one year to get Vesperia and almost six months to get Graces f. This is even more impressive once you consider that Xillia is a Multi 5 release, while the other two games were Multi 3 (which is still better than most European jrpg release, by the way).

      • If this keeps up in future tales of games then HUGE praise to them.

  • John

The figure is a copy of this, http://myfigurecollection.net/item/110622 which was a prize figure …not sure about quality but I won’t be getting it since I got the Alter figure already :)…http://myfigurecollection.net/image/rocklee_san1333073122.jpeg

  • Zero Shift

Throwing money at my screen but nothing’s happening :(

  • Raltrios

I was planning to get this game even though I don’t have a PS3. Now I want it even more! And it comes with a Milla figure that, while not the same, could replace the one I ordered that got lost in postage limbo. Once my refund gets through, it’d be cheaper to get this than go for that other figure again.

  • VietKnight

Looks like I need to put 40$ more to finish paying it off again.

  • Visa Vang

I’m actually pretty scared right now that I won’t be able to get one for myself. Too many wolves this year.

    • VietKnight

Right now I am pretty much preparing myself to call my local store to change the reserve or reserving it online which ever shows available

  • Cometsu

But is the game any good? Ive heard lackluster reports on Xillia 1

    • Ladius

It seems to be great overall, the main beef some people have is that it has less optional contents than Vesperia or Graces f, but that doesn’t mean it lacks contents compared to most other entries in the franchise (not to mention other PS3 jrpgs, considering Tales is probably the most feature-filled home console traditional jrpg series around as of now).

In game costumes are only four, but you have more attachments than in any other game in the series (65), more than an hundred subquests, larger areas to explore, more options in battle (like swapping characters on the fly and link artes) and a Sphere Grid-like customization system, not to mention a full 3D camera and plenty of skits (there are 241 traditional skits, plus others in battle or during the explorations).

People have been also praising its plot and characters, it seems it’s one of the strongest Tales games in that regard (and its sequel was even more well received).

    • Pyrotek85

Really? I’ve heard nothing but good things, not that anyone has been claiming it’s perfect.

  • Solomon_Kano

    I want this so bad. ;_;

  • Tails the Foxhound

I still don’t have a PS3 (still trying to get a hold of a BC one) and I’m STILL gonna go out and preorder this baby.

    • SpecDotSign

You should try Craigslist. But be SUPER careful. There are some scumbags out there.

      • Tails the Foxhound

I’ve found a friend of mine who’s willing to do a straight up trade for a new PS3 Slim (I just need to buy it). Thanks for the advice anyhow though.

  • Ladius

Xillia’s limited edition is available for preorder on the US Gamestop site: http://www.gamestop.com/ps3/games/tales-of-xillia-collectors-edition/109114

  • r0gamer940

just preordered at my local gamestop

  • Vesperion

I heard the game is shorter then other tales games. Short like Final Fantasy XIII-2 short. is that true?

    • How was 13-2 short? I had 70+ hours on it easily. I beat Xillia at around 56-60 hours. I don’t know what short is, but I think that’s quite fine.

      • Vesperion

Don’t get me wrong I’m quite the completionist and i love tales games as it took me over 200 hours to do everything in vesperia, but what i mean is it took me about about 85 hours to do everything in XIII-2 the core game still can be beaten in like 30 hours. I just asked cause i heard Xillia wasn’t as long as the other tales is all

    • Ladius

Xillia is a 50-60 hours game that can easily last more depending on how many playthroughs you do (and there are two scenarios, unlike other Tales games) and how much of a completionist you’re. If that’s short, then I don’t know how you would define pretty much every other game.

  • Joshua Myers

I’ll so be buying the collectors dont care that its 99 loved all the tales games

  • Guest

GameStop.com listing for the CE is up for those in the US. Get it before it’s gone!

  • Demeanor

You asked for it, Bamco… don’t care if I already went thru ToX and ToX2… LE it is!
    EDIT: Aaaaand done! ^ ^

  • $36598391

Oh nice, got an empty spot on my shelf for that!

  • Totally preordered from gamestop.

  • CirnoLakes

I don’t see this for pre-order on Amazon.

Am I seriously going to have to use Gamestop? Because I would prefer not to buy it at Gamestop.

    • Ryos

They haven’t mentioned anything about Gamestop on their Facebook page so I have a gut feeling it’s it or nothing. If Amazon ever does offer it, I’m dropping my placeholder Gamestop order.

      • SpecDotSign

Same here. I went to my local GameStop today and they had stopped taking pre-orders for the Limited Edition. Total bs, but I was able to get the pre-order online. I’m really hoping Amazon comes through though.

  • CrossZX

    Argh, so tempting…butits €100…

  • Oltheros

This is pretty impressive treatment for the North American market.

Well, except for the exclusion of dual audio. That would just be too perfect.
