What’s the likelihood of a textual localization of this?

    • KnifeAndFork

Trademark was filed for EU that’s as far as we know…Namco localized Saint Seiya game there since it’s popular in Europe…

      • VitaminC

Hopefully this won’t just be a PS3 digital download.

  • I don’t know anything about this series, what would be the first thing a real fan would tell me about this?

    • KnifeAndFork

They would tell you read the Manga and go look for the recent 26 episode Anime covering the first 2 arcs so you can learn more about ZA WARUDO

      • They didnt get to stardust crusaders yet so no stands .

      • apparently so,thank god they all didn’t answer like that.

    • Hinataharem

Fabulous poses. Fascinating characters. Cool battles. Starts off as a Fist of the North Star expy but then evolves into supernatural spirit battles, with “Stands” (like Persona). Really cool series. I recommend you try it out, starting with the anime and reading the manga.

      • It started off as story about two young boys one of thems an archeologist and the other is the resident evil j-crew spanner in the works who goes bloody vampire. UREEEYYYYYY

    • VitaminC

As KnifeAndFork said, read the manga and watch the recently completed anime. Also recommended: Pose fabulously daily and do NOT skip a single part of the manga.

It’s a shounen manga… still ongoing from the 80s’. Most shounen manga are usually about getting more powerful “somehow” due to training to defeat the next big bad, but JoJo isn’t like that. All the enemies fought are like a puzzle. Each protagonist or ally/hero use their heads and their abilities to the fullest while fighting. It makes it quite enjoyable and an awesome read. Although sometimes the deus ex machina trope is used… it isn’t overused so actually seeing it sometimes is pretty cool.
The series is all about the Joestar lineage and their battles with some villain in each “part”. The series is labeled into parts. The recent anime covers Part I and II. Starting with Part III Stands are introduced. Most of the time, if your Stand is hurt, so is the user (usually it’s the automatic types that don’t transfer pain to it’s user). Which are kind of like Personas if you are familiar with that series. Each Stand is unique to each person and has one or a few abilities. Also Araki-sensei names mostly everything in reference to songs, band names, etc. (Get Back by The Beatles is basically JoJo’s namesake).
It used to be a weekly series (like Naruto, One Piece, Bleach) but around Part VII (2003?) It became monthly. you can also see the art evolution, pretty cool as well.
Uh, anything else? I’m not too keen on calling the poses fabulous, maybe because now they seem completely normal to me :(

      • I think out of the other posts yours wins,I told the others that i know nothing about it…and they basicly told me just read the manga and watch the anime.

Your answer actually gives me some details and interest. Thanks for the info!

        • MrSirFeatherFang

It’s a very long series (over 100 volumes!)… and I think most of the scans are outdated (well that didn’t bother me).
The reason you would need to read them on the internet is that… Part III is the only Part that is officially licensed in English. It probably has to do with the music related names and copyright.
I am not sure if the others Parts had problems with this, but some of the scans were translated from the Chinese raws instead of the Japanese one.For example with Part IV is that the English translations (I forgot by who) Morioh (the town) is translated as Duwang… so just be wary of that. Although I think some group is trying to retranslate and provide some higher quality scans, but of course I can’t post them here and plus I forgot lol.

I’ll do it then. The characters have fabulous poses and often wear flamboyant clothing to prevent the sheer manliness of the series from ruining the humor (which it has in droves.) The humor contrasts nicely with the violence and action that is a mainstay in the series.

The manga its-self is an interesting read as it has a very Hollywood Cinematic style to it, presents events in various regions of the world, and are all prime examples of what was popular at the time. Despite being (very) Japanese, there’s a lot of Hollywood influences there-in as well.

If it weren’t for the copyright issues involved in publishing it westward at the time, I wouldn’t have been surprised if Jojo’s became as popular in the West as Fist of the North Star or Dragon Ball due to its Western influences (featuring whole parts in England, America, and Italy) and highly appealing action.

    • StarWarudo

I started reading the manga back in September and it was about a few weeks ago that I finally got all caught up. By then Jojo has rocketed to my all-time favorite series (Tied with Dragonball). The thing I love most and I believe many can agree with it is that the fights (From Parts 2 and onward) are all about wits, strategy, and even luck , whereas many other shounen series are all about who can simply power up the most. This to me personally is a breath of fresh air because there have been so many fights I can recall throughout all the eight parts where I’ve felt genuinely excited from the tension and intensity coming from the art (Poker-game in Part 3, Josuke vs Kira in part 4, Pucci vs Everyone, everything from Steel Ball Run).

That’s not to say Jojo doesn’t have its faults. Part 1 and to a lesser extent part 5 (IMO) are relatively weak and the main plot for the most part is straightforward and even cut and dry but in the end it’s all about the journey and that is where Jojo excels the most. The enormous cast of characters are incredible and I sometimes hurt myself trying to wonder how Hirohiko Araki (The author of the manga) comes up with some of these things. Sure some of his ideas are a bit out there but you can’t help but admire the creativity behind his work. Oh, and I personally love all the little references to all of my favorite bands where are peppered here and there.

Hope this helps and I implore you to give this series a chance because you’ll never look back once you do.

      A passionate Jojolian.

      • AkuLord3

Well part 1 was made in the 80s so no surprise there about it being different but i kinda disagree about Part 5 being weak but really anyone can say that about any part at times but yeah opinions on favorites…also Jojo has a Main Plot…what?

        • StarWarudo

I just felt part 5 was weak compared to the previous two but like I said, my opinion. Don’t necessarily have to agree with it.

And I mean the main plot in each part. Stopping the pillar-men, Finding Dio, Stopping the Killer, Escorting the Boss’s daughter, getting the memory disc, SBR Race, and figuring out Josukira’s identity.

    • MrTyrant

It’s difficult to explain, just read the manga and don’t drop it because the twist in each arcs are incredible and you have different main characters and cast while the story varies a lot from each one.

  • StarWarudo

Isn’t Koichi suppose to be blonde?! He looks like he’ll be a pretty unique fighter. August can’t come soon enough.

    • AkuLord3

Not really…there is never a “exact” official color for the character’s hair/clothes but Koichi wasn’t golden…i know why you think that since whenever he use his stand he go all SSJ

  • Final Aura

I’m looking in the comments and I feel it needs more WRYYYYYYYYYYYYY MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA

  • Hound

I really hope Koichi and Johnny don’t have that whole “cannot be hurt in normal ways due to having low hit boxes” giving them advantage over the other characters to start.
    Oh.. and “URRRRRRYYYYY!!”

  • carlospsp

Hope NamcoBandai release JoJo’s game at West.

    • MrSirFeatherFang

      Because JoJo needs to
      ( •_•)>⌐■-■
      Get Back

  • Göran Isacson

Oooh, wasn’t Echoes the one who used the “sound effect” signs to do different attacks? Wonder how they’ll incorporate THAT into the game.

    • MrSirFeatherFang

If localized to other countries I would say that would be very difficult since the word sounds are still in Japanese (I remember someone from Eighting said is was difficult to incorporate Phoenix Wright because of his “Objection!”).
