One Piece Romance Dawn RPG Sets Sail For Nintendo 3DS

By Spencer . May 23, 2013 . 4:00pm

imageNamco Bandai is porting the One Piece Romance Dawn PSP game to Nintendo 3DS. A small blurb in Shonen Jump dates One Piece Romance Dawn for August 8.

It’s unclear if Namco Bandai will add any extra content like they they did with Digimon World Re: Digitize Decode, another PSP to Nintendo 3DS port. One Piece Romance Dawn is a turn based RPG that covers the story of Shanks and goes up to the Marineford Arc.

Maybe more stuff will be ported from the PSP to the 3DS…

    • Junko Enoshima

      Like Danganronpa?

      • MrSirFeatherFang

I’ve been very interested in that game. Although now it’s been two NBGI published games that have been ported to the 3DS with their PSP version released last year(?).
I’m just keeping an eye out for Namco Bandai related things now (Summon Night?). However that doesn’t mean instant localization though…

        • Hopefully Summon Night 5 makes the jump, but right now Bandai’s the side doing the ports. Maybe we’ll see CC2’s Naruto PSP games on 3DS?

          • Solomon_Kano

Probably not too likely. Namco’s been porting recently released PSP games as opposed to diving back to earlier ones. I’d imagine it’s because they didn’t sell as much as they wanted on PSP, while I recall the Naruto games doing rather well.

          • I think Atlus have the rights to Summon Night in the US, ans those games didn’t sell too well. Atlus don’t seem to be taking as many chances these days.

          • Well Atlus brought over Code of Princess, an original IP with the character wearing pretty revealing clothing, that’s pretty risky in my book. :P

Also I think .Hack//Link is another good candidate, it did come out a couple of years ago, but still, I don’t see them doing a 3DS exclusive .Hack, so port one.

      Gundam vs Gundam Next Plus?

      • Detrimont

now i actually want this, the 3d would be incredible

      • Pombar

Would prefer it for Vita for the second stick – plus, between that and Persona 4, it’d make the console worth an instant purchase.

        • Herok♞

I already own a Vita, I can say this but two ports would make it worth a purchase but not games like Gravity Rush and Soul Sacrifice?

          • OathkeeperSoraXIII

^ 2 best games on the Vita atm imo

  • Highasthesky

I have kaizoku musou on my Vita, is there any reason to buy this if it were to head over?

    • Solomon_Kano

      Well… I mean, they’re very different, so there’s a reason.

      • Highasthesky

Yea i know that…we don’t get much one piece games in the states, and i bought kaizoku musou to provide a fix. i’d have to say it worked perfectly, and now that i have my “fix” i’m looking at this game as more then just a one piece game. So i wanted to know for those who have played it their opinion on the game.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Umm different genre and different type of game? One is musou style meanwhile one is rpg?

    • pretty much this game is more “Complete” than Kaizoku musou in term of story, but the genre and gameplay is VERY different.
Be prepared for TONS of text (unvoiced), with repetitive annoying grinding and dungeons (even more annoying than musou)

also, KAizoku musou 2 in Vita is just a spin-off original story, the one that should be compared with Romance Dawn is KAizoku musou 1, since it is following canon story from manga, like Romance Dawn

I personally prefer Musou, since i like real-time-action gameplay. Romance Dawn is pretty much more for the hardcore fans of One Piece.

      • Highasthesky

Thanks man, appreciate the lack of sarcasim. The game is not my cup of tea it seems, i thought maybe it played better then it looked. Well, on to unlimited world red (SERIOUSLY WHATS WITH THE RED!)

  • Solomon_Kano

Can I start praying for a US release? Come on, Namdai, you’re even bringing Project X Zone! Keep it up! I want to belieeeeeeve~!

  • Just Tim

Seeing how Namco Bandai has contractual obligations toward One Piece at least in Japan, I easily see this as a download- and sub-only game, given how One Piece is not in the financial levels of Naruto and Dragonball combined…in America.

  • Jesse Torres

Interesting how many games that were on the psp have been ported to the nintendo 3ds.

  • 3PointDecoupage

Please please please come to America! This is the best OP game. And add Skypeia/New World and give Usopp some better attacks while you’re at it.

    • Pombar

OP games have a better track record of coming to Europe. Sadly, the 3DS is region locked.

  • Göran Isacson

Just not gonna be original and pray it gets an eventual translation. Even if it’s a lot of text in an RPG, so the odds may not be good…

  • Localization? Please? Toonami is airing One Piece soo… eh?

  • MrJechgo

    Porting? that’s it?
How about adding extra stages from the missing arcs that you STILL keep missing?!?

    • They might add extra content.. maybe…

  • salvapot

  • We might actually get to play this now.

  • Prinny Dood

If we didnt get on the psp were not geeting it on the 3ds : (

    • 3DS actually raises our chances of getting it, but the chances are still low.

      • Prinny Dood

Youre right I forgot iwata mention that he was working with the japanese devoloper to bring more games over here so heres to hopin :)

  • Rini11
