Super Robot Taisen OE Strikes With More Gundam And Variable Fighters

By Spencer . May 31, 2013 . 3:00pm

Namco Bandai’s episodic Super Robot Taisen game, Super Robot Taisen OE, has a mix of Mobile Suits from Gundam and Variable Fighters from Macross. King Sccasher is an interesting addition because Lamune, the main character from the anime series, was sucked into a video game and now he’s in a mecha mashup.

Would rather they made a full SRW game and not this Episode stuff.. Z3 better blow me away after how awesome z2.2 was.

    • LynxAmali

      ………………….

Because it’s not like F, F Final or Z2.1, Z2.2 exist. No, sir.

      • MrTyrant

Well it’s a little different, this game is more divided I think. 20 stage per game if I remember. That is kinda new.

        • Mr_SP

And it only costs the price of a single game, not double the cost. That is an *important* difference.

      • http://www.facebook.com/Sardorim Richard Shiflett

        Don’t be that guy.

You also cannot compare this Episode stuff with F, F Final, or the Z2 saga as each part was a full game and with a developed Original Cast and Mecha and were connected to each other story wise.

        • LynxAmali

One could argue F and F Final actually. It was essentially 4 split up in two parts. Z2 is grasping though, I realize that.

That entire post was sarcasm by the way. Note the long ….. and the “No, sir.” at the end.

    • Z3

Z2 in its entirety was actually pretty disappointing considering that the squad system was lost. A feature that was in Z1. That freaking synth violins in the BGM’s (Heats was kinda ruined because of it though the Votoms theme, me like). Also DAT static animation on the Li-Brasta. There was also very little secrets. I believe UX had 13 or more? While Z2 only had like 3 secret units and the rest were items. The greatest strength of Z2 was definitely the cast list. VOTOMS baby and my fav 00 Gundam. Also DAT animation, my god its glorious. The Nu’s reworked animation is definitely the best animated unit in SRW history so far

      • Mr_SP

However, the cast list was also a bit of a waste in Z2, with how many units there were, and how few deployment slots you had. As a result I consider Z2′s over-inflated cast to be a weakness, as there’s no reason to use other characters without weakening your main team or suffering the extremely limited character options in the first dozen stages over and over again. There is no room for experimentation.

Having repeatable stages will really help OE deal with it’s own large cast, as using other characters doesn’t impact your main team, and you aren’t sacrificing any experience from doing so.

S2 Setsuna in Exia attacking the Susanowo? …Huh?

  • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

I would have preferred 00 Riser.

    • LynxAmali

It’s possible Setsuna will be able to swap into Exia and 00.

Perhaps I’m hoping a bit too much, I really hope that’s the R2. I was really disappointed that wasn’t in Z2 (alongside 0 Gundam Combat Colors being a secret for say, Amuro.)

      • Mr_SP

It isn’t. The cables on the upper arms show that it’s the original Exia, because they were removed from the R2.

  • MrTyrant

I don’t know King Sccasher but I already liked more than those OTHER pictures (Aka SEED, OO and MOECROSS)

    • neocatzon

Ng Knight Lamune is 90′s mecha anime for kids. The story and character is decent for its target age and have a bit of ecchi. See that green glob on the 2nd screenshot? That changed the mc into Knight Lamune and allowed him to use King Scchaser.

  • Z3

Holy crap are we actually getting Exia R2? Oh man I hope 0 Gundam makes it in. So disappointed because it wasn’t in Saisei-hen

    • Mr_SP

Nope. That is older Setsuna… But notice that it’s upper arms have cables? That’s the original Exia, not the R2, which eliminated the external cables.

    Infinite, not Infinity :T
