  • XypherCode

I think both GameStop and Amazon are sold out on pre-orders for the Collector’s Edition. *sigh*

    • MrSirFeatherFang

It’s popped up as available at least once (and maybe twice) on Amazon. I would keep a look out or if you have liked Op Rainfall or any of the Tales related Facbook pages, I usually see things I don’t normally see from other websites very quickly!

  • Arrei

    I am now happy.

I am now remembering this game is still two months away.

    I am now sad.

    • Last of Us next week

    • Raltrios

At least it gives me time to find a deal on a PS3 so I can actually play my copy when it comes out.

  • Tyler Beale

I thought for a second that Namco Bandai was going to fuck up again just as they did with Ni no Kuni.

    • Ladius

Well, the old news itself was about Namco giving a free upgrade to every retail copy of Tales of Xillia, and that was both unusual and generous compared to many other companies :P

Glad the DLCs are there for the CE buyers, though, since Xillia really needs the fanbase to unite in order to be successful.

      • yeah I heard of that, that was decent of them

  • Ladius

It’s really nice to see this misunderstanding finally cleared, thanks Spencer :) I imagine Namco didn’t clarify the situation immediately because Rich Bantegui (their US PRcommunity manager) left Namco practically the same time as the LE announcement.

  • AkuLord3

I guess i will be going for the Collection Edition…very good to see this cleared up

    • Alexander Marquis Starkey

      There aren’t any more available.

    • Raltrios

Good luck with that. It’ll be very, very scarce by now.

      • m45hu

I just was able to order it from the Namco Bandai online store. Who knows if I’ll get it or not, but they’re listing it as available again. Maybe for the people who were holding off until this was all cleared up? Looks like newegg has it listed too (although i felt better ordering from the source, but after Ni No Kuni who knows…)

  • I hope this sells well. Namco still has some good games that us anime/rpg fans still crave.

    • Hopefully, the CE is sold out at alot of stores and Bamco said there was an overwhelming demand for it

      • Yeah I was miffed that I missed the chance to put in for a CE but at least they had LE available so I went for that.

        • Newegg still has some CEs last I checked

          • ShindoW

Thank you. I ordered one. Here’s hoping nothing goes wrong.

        • Nozomi

Best Buy and the Namco Store are accepting CE pre-orders still online.

      • that’s good, got mine paid for at Gamestop, it’s close to my homestead so….

      • That’s really sounding like it’ll be popular. Maybe the most pop of all the Tales games.

    • Joshua Myers

      Yea they do

      • I kinda wanna play Rebirth and Hearts and Innocence. I hope they all come over on Vita or an HD remakes.

    • MrJechgo

Tales of Xillia 2 comes to mind

      • Ladius

Definitely, at this point Xillia’s sales will probably determine if we get Xillia 2 or not.

        • heard a rumor that Xillia 2 was in the bag since PS3 was gonna need some games on it for everyone not going to PS4 right away.

      • Agreed. I heard Ludger can talk if you replay the game after you beat it once. Is that true?

        • Ladius

Yeah, I have read the same. You can also make choices to influence the story and the endings, and he has three different weapon sets.

          • I hope they give DLC so I can have him talk from the start. I don’t like silent leads unless it’s a character you create yourself for an MMORPG.

          • Bobby Jennings

There is no such DLC. Baba said it’s made like that so you can be put in the shoes of the main character. You unlock it upon beating the game once.

          • That’s a shame. But at least my second playthru will be more fun.

        • MrJechgo

          Yep ^_^

    • transferstudentx

I bet all of the people who cancelled their CE feel pretty stupid now!

  • Ladius
  • Astraye

already pre ordered the collector’s edition.

    • I waited too long but am getting the limited so I’m set

      • Space_Ghost

Everybody that pre-ordered is getting the LE set I believe, which is always nice.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

I sure would love the limed edition. Sounds delicious!

    • Asrialys

Hope the disc isn’t sticky :/

      • It will be after I get it.

  • Christopher Nunes

Glad I keep my pre-order of CE then when I didn’t see the DLC Costume code anywhere on it… I already pre-ordered it and the were no real lose to me but I’m glad they confirmed you can get them for the CE version as well.

  • Sentsuizan_93

Limed? I would change that for you, but i’m not an editor here.

    • Hraesvelgr

It’s not an error, the game will be seasoned with lime.

      • Sentsuizan_93

Would that mean we also get a rare lime gel? :P

      • CirnoLakes

Wait, wouldn’t that be lemon gel instead?

Or do Tales games now how have lime gels?

  • Tiramii

Got myself the Collector’s Preordered, but I really want that profile booklet….EBAY WILL BE MY FRIEND.

    • Alexander Marquis Starkey

It will probably be the 1st 50 pages of the Art Book.

  • scratchbach

    That’s a relief, I wanted those costumes!

  • Collectors Edition all the way for me =^_^=

  • Chim_era

    My money ……… :'(

  • Rini11

Already preordered Tales of Xillia limited edition this will be my second tales game the first one I played was Abyss(3ds) and I enjoyed it:)

    • Rogerrmark

You really should give Graces f a chance. Absurdly fast-paced battle system and likeable characters+good amount of side-quests. Really loved that game, one of my fav. Tales of games.

*EDIT*Vote down already?Probably another Symphonia fanboy, considering how lovely they tend to be with newer entries.

      • Marcus J. Hopkins

Yeah…I’ve never really seen why there’s such a big fuss over Symphonia. It’s kind of awkward to play, compared to the other titles.

        • Raltrios

Keep in mind that it’s an older title. I believe it was the last one before they implemented the free-roaming during battle that you find in Tales nowadays.

        • John Diamond

It’s actually a pretty good game imo. good storyline, good gameplay, however it’s far from the best. It’s like people who say abyss is the best, even though vesperia’s battle system is pretty much like abyss’s one but with a whole myriad of improvements.

          • Ladius

Abyss is more in line with modern Tales standards, though: it has free run in battle, its characters have the same proportions as all the pre-Xillia entries (while Symphonia is almost sd style) and it has arguably the best setting and plot of the whole series, not to mention some really fleshed out characters. It’s also one of the biggest entries in terms of contents.

          • John Diamond

oh no, i’m not talking about storylines, just gameplay in this instance. although i haven’t played graces yet, i’ve heard there’s a lot to do there

        • Rogerrmark

Most people I talked about told me they loved the story. Not particulary really a fan of it.

I was ok with summons/Mana on Phantasia.and ok with Summons on Eternia, since the battle system was faster and looked good on PS1.

          Symphonia’s story was almost like a rehash of both,in a way I didn’t like,though.

Really liked Sheena and Raine, though.Wish more summoners/healers were like them

        • Ladius

Symphonia has aged, that’s for sure. Its battle system is the most archaic one among 3D Tales games, and personally I’m not a big fan of its world and characters, even if the antagonists are really good. All in all one can still enjoy it, but I will suggest Xillia, Graces f, Vesperia or Abyss before it.

        • Ps3 remake my be better controls wise.

          • Ladius

Keep in mind it isn’t a remake, it’s a remaster. Basically, it will be the same game with improved resolution and some new features, like costumes and Mystic Artes cut-ins (and the PS2 extras, since we never got that version in the west).

          • wait they WILL be adding Mystic Arts to Symphonia?

          • Bobby Jennings

From the Updated PS2 version, yes

          • nice, just might get it then

          • Bobby Jennings

Awesome. Hope you enjoy it ^_^

      • BlakShiranui

I was always more of a Vesperia fan myself. Yuri is by far a much better protagonist than Asbel, but the combat was definitely the highlight of Graces. Everything else was just mediocre.

        • Testsubject909

Even then. The combat in Graces had a visual flaw. It became too much of a clusterfuck. I can keep track of what’s going on fine, but I cannot deny that it was just getting into being a big mess of huge special effects that just desensitizes to it all. At first it’s a “Wow, that’s nice” and eventually becomes a “…eh…” It feels like it’s blowing it’s load far too quickly and far too frequently. Makes it lose a lot of it’s impact and wow factor visually in combat. I mean, compare the visual spectacle to, say, Star Ocean Till the End of Time and how easily you can follow the action. My sister, for example, who was less experienced with action games had a rough time because of the visual clusterfuck.

Also. Yeah I really like Yuri from Vesperia. One of the best protagonists I know of in Tales games. I like to think he has a superpower called “Common Sense”, and also he’s one of those rare people who *Gasp!* Takes Initiative!

And can recognize a continuous problem and actively chooses to deal with that problem so that it never comes up again. At least when he can do so.

          • Basically Yuri’s the most mature and sensible lead of a Tales game. He was cunning and cool and often tricked foes.

          • Testsubject909

And he didn’t require much character growth.

And I always enjoy that when it feels more like you’re Discovering a character as he shows more of who he or she is. Rather then follow a bland character who “grows a lot” because he didn’t really have a personality to begin with.

Not that I mind. I’ll get into the game either way, but an actual character makes it all the better…

          • BlakShiranui

Not to mention the lack of an actual overworld, the small combat arenas, and the obnoxious theme of “Protecting things and Friendship!” made Graces hard to sit through for me. Still haven’t finished the future arc to this day.

      • Graces kicked a lot of ass! Like Abyss I had almost no characters I didn’t like.

      • Graces was good, Abyss on PS3 was maybe the best Tales to me, I think Legendia was decent (could use a redoing), Symphonia was decent too, but the battle system on GC was choppy and the story was predictable. Vesperia was really good, but I didn’t like all the characters, mostly just Yuri. I hope Xillia 1 and 2 are even better than Abyss though.

        • Rogerrmark

I definitely liked Abyss and Vesperia a lot,and both were better had better characters/story than Graces, imo.

Just mentioned Graces f because Rini1 seemed to have a PS3,and aparently never played it before D:
I liked CC system better than usual MP,though.

Tales of Hearts was very good as well, although I played it with a translated script…too bad we never got a localization.

          • Judging from how much people want Xillia I think it’s a safe bet the sequel will come over too. But after that, do you think they’ll finally show some love to VITA and send the reimagened version of Hearts and Innocence?

          • Rogerrmark

I really really want Xillia 2.From the reviews I read,it seemed way better than the first.

About Innocence and Hearts…don’t know.REALLY wanted to play Hearts R(Innocence on DS was ok).But considering Vita’s situation right now….well ):

But who knows,Ys Celceta,Toukiden and even the port of Atelier Meruru will arrive on West till December. And it has great games like Soul Sacrifice and some indie stuff.

Although it’s situation is not that good,it surely improved from some months ago.We might have a slight chance.

      • Testsubject909

        Graces was flawed…

        It was okay.

I know people will hate me for this.

        • no it wasn’t perfect. You’re right. I’m just saying with a lack of Tales games, it’s good. The map was small and the villains weren’t connected to much to the cast or the story all the time. But overall it’s good.

          • Testsubject909

            Fair enough.

      • Jisgsaw

        ” and likeable characters”

        Wait, what ?

Graces has an incredible battle system, but the world is bland, the characters far too cliché, eng. VA is inegal, the dungeons are terrible, and the story is just boring and cliché.

        (and I never played Symphonia)

        • Rogerrmark

Don’t mind cliché characters, and the overall V.A was good, imo. The world map was really bland, and the dungeons weren’t exactly fun to explore, like you said.

The fact that most costumes titles were paid DLC bored me as well(miss costumes/titles from Abyss, where everything was pretty much free and included in-game)

          I’m ok with everything else,though.

    • XiaomuArisu

      Listen to Rogerrmark!
Graces is awesome, use it to reduce the waiting time for Xillia

    • Graces F is really good

  • artemisthemp

I just wait for August to roll around and the mailman arrive with my Tales of Xillia CE.

  • I was able to preorder the limited edition from Bamco’s web store without receiving a cancelation notice like i did with the collectors edition so I’m happy

  • CirnoLakes

    Sounds tasty.

    • Testsubject909

Are you going to lick it?

  • YoshEE

Well I already pre-order both. So I might as well give it to my friends or sell them :3

  • Letiumtide

I preordered both just in case. I still may just pick up both after all and keep my CE nice and sealed.

  • riceisnice

Milia will have a male DLC outfit?

    • AuraGuyChris

She’s the Masculine Girl to Jude’s Feminine Guy.

      • what is a male DLC outfit? a tuxedo?

  • Sergio Briceño

Good news, none of them is actually that expensive. Bad news, that’s one expensive figurine.

  • Crimson_Cloud

    Star Driver costume DLC please.

    • Mr_SP

Sadly, no, not happening. If they never released the Geass costumes, which I probably would have paid for, then Star Driver isn’t happening, either.

      • fireguardiancoty

We didn’t get [email protected] or .hack either, and NB owns those. I’d be surprised if we got some the anime ones for Xillia.

  • Repede91

Is the one with the Milla figure available at retail?

  • Does everyone know who their main party members will be?
I’m going for Alvin, Jude, Mila, and Elize. It’s typical set-up, but my siblings will likely be playing with me and those are the characters we like based on what we’ve seen in trailers and JPN walkthrus. I hear all the characters really come in handy.

    • Ladius

In Xillia you can freely switch characters in and out of your party even during battles, so you could very well use all of them equally. Jude, Milla, Alvin and Rowen will probably be my default team, though.

      • Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Yeah, this one and the sequel are the first time that’s happened. Jude will be my lead and a jack of all trades. Milla will be the main one to do elem damage, ALvin will be the heavy knight/meat tank and Elize will do most of the healing and support.

  • Win Moe Aung

Hopefully not another good game with unbearable voice acting.

    • you can check the VAing with the most recent trailers.

    • Testsubject909

      It’s easily bearable, it’s competent.

      You wanna hear unbearable?

Do you REALLY wanna hear unbearable?

      • psycho_bandaid
      • Arc Rise Fantasia was really bad.

        • Testsubject909

I never quite understand why people who hear just decent English voice acting immediately go “OH MAH BALLS DIS IS EAR CANCAR!”

… But then I remember that I’ve probably played more games then the a-typical gamer. Meaning I have a larger pool of experiences from which to draw context. To which I have experienced some truly bad voice acting…

          Also. Arc Rise Fantasia?

I’ve heard worse… Sadly for me.

Edit: PS. This link it’s Arc Rise Fantasia, so you guys can see where KOKAYI5 is coming from.

          • *watched vid*
LOL I played but didn’t bother beating the game. I stopped caring about the story. The girl with the purple hair was one of the worst.

          • Testsubject909
          • “help me mister L’arc.”

            *watches this vid*

…”But HOW do I get back to Tokyo?”

“Wait……why?……Why do we have to run?”
            LOL Man that is terrible.

          • Testsubject909

But to be fair. The HORRIBLE voice acting in Castle Shikigami 2… Is what makes the game even MORE AWESOME!

          • like watching a “so bad it’s good movie”.
“change voice.” That made me laugh out loud for real. I can’t believe the voice director didn’t tell him to simply change his voice. And why was that still even in the text of the game?

          • Testsubject909

Hehe. Like I said. The horrible voice acting in Castle Shikigami is part of what makes it so fun.

Isn’t that right? MR BEAM? HAPPY ENDING PLEASE!

So many could die… Sound idiotic. That’s a compliment.

          • this one’s also badly translated, that what makes it funnier

          • Testsubject909

            You know what’s also funny?

The location doesn’t matter. So please. Do it here.

Edit: I brought the life extending agent… Beware, it’s so… big.

          • those Arc Tonelico games were embaressing to play in a house full of my parents and siblings. It made me feel like a loser.

          • psycho_bandaid

I had a feeling you would bring up Chaos Wars. I had nearly forgotten….

Why did you make me remember!?!?

          • Oh no…

          • Testsubject909

            Do you believe in magic?

            He doesn’t.

          • Oh my word! LOL times one thousand and one!

    • Kamakuma

I’ll resist the urge to make a bear joke here… *Hides Persona 4* x’3

  • With other games I’m looking forward to getting, knowing I get that DLC and music CD in the lower priced version makes me sigh in relief. Where is my hypetrain!?

    • Testsubject909

Maybe because if you want all the loot you need to get two separate items?

(if you were wondering why you weren’t on the Hypetrain)

      • LOL! (Seriously laughed out loud) That may indeed by why! I want all the loot but my wallet… It’s not big enough (●´⌓`●)

  • fireemblembeast

They…they actually LISTENED to the backlash?!
It’s a miracle! I’m so happy they are finally listening to our voices! ^_^ Thank you~
Now I also get the DLC. I’m a happy tales fan!

    • Ladius

Rather than listening to the backlash, it seems the whole issue was a simple case of misunderstanding, mixed with some of the usual overractions from the fanbase.

Namco’s main PRcommunity manager left the company soon after the LE and DLC announcement, and it’s likely the one who first answered the question about the DLC’s inclusion simply didn’t know what was planned about them. The DLCs were already announced for both editions in Europe, and that was why many fans urged to wait some days before boycotting the CE, since Namco was probably including them for both SKUs from the start. As it turns out, it seems they were right.

Also, keep in mind they’ve been listening to the fanbase for quite some time: Tales’ return to the west was due to the fan requests, and the same was true for Graces f and Xillia’s localizations, Baba’s many trips to the US and Europe and the free upgrade of all Xillia’s regular editions to Day OneLimited editions.

  • gamefreak86

There’s no dual audio for this game right?

    • MrSirFeatherFang

No there isn’t. Geez what’s the the dislikes? He was just asking a question

      • CirnoLakes

Because crusaders against fans of the original Japanese are overzealous.

      • gamefreak86

        Thank you. I was curious.

      • fireguardiancoty

It’s a question that gets asked a million times with every game that comes out. I don’t know about you, but some people get sick of it after a while.

        • MrSirFeatherFang

Yeah, I know. Sometimes people get lazy to search for things. If it’s something like a simple yes or no, I’ll help out.

  • SprintsMcGee

Preordered the Collector’s Edition I think a day after it was announced so I’m set. August can’t get here soon enough!
