I checked out Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate today which adds five new characters to the game. Momiji from the is an agile character with a double jump move which is one of her unique skills in the Ninja Gaiden series. She also has an attack where she catches an enemy in midair and throws them to the ground with a flip. In contrast to Momiji, Rachel is a power character, so she delivers damaging attacks, but is slow in comparison.

Ein and Leon both return for Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, but they won’t be clones in this game. Yohei Shimbori, director of Dead or Alive 5 and Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, explained that they wanted to make the characters stand out. While Leon uses a similar style as in previous games, Ein is now a heavy character. Shimbori demoed that when Ein and Leon both throw a punch at the same time Leon will connect while Ein will not since Leon is faster. The two characters have different movesets and combos too.

Jacky from the Virtua Fighter series plays like… well Jacky. Shimbori said they didn’t want to change him around to much so Virtua Fighter fans can jump in and play as him.

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate adds a new technique for all players called the Power Launcher. You can use this attack when you lose 50% of your health and if it connects it sends your opponent flying upwards. This gives you a chance to juggle them for extra damage. The Power Blow is still in Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, but you only get one power move per round. Players can choose whether to use the Power Blow (which is most useful for shoving other players into traps) or the Power Launcher (good for extending combos).

Shimbori confirmed to Siliconera that after revealing Rachel and Leon Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate’s roster has been fully announced.

Aww! :( Ein as a Heavy now and I was so excited to able to play as him again…

Aw well, atleast I have Hayate and Hitomi :D and now Momoji aswell :D
BTW, have they said if we would get an entire new soundtrack? cause the previous one sucked!

    • venomryu

good new you can play any song from the past doa games in any stage you like

      • Griever_Zero

Woop Woop!! DOA2 OST here I come :P

        Thanks for the news :D

  • wahyudil

I want this … but in disc … and for Wii U

    • British_Otaku

They are releasing a physical release of the game on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The digital free to play and buy the story mode and characters separately thing is an option,

As for the console… Fighting games tend to be rereleased a lot and even Ninja Gaiden has been rereleased tons of times, but I doubt the Wii U will get it at this point. It’s the last version of DOA5 and not long till they push that out and then the likely PS4/X1 DOA6 is announced.

    • Nitraion

WiiU already got smash bros and other exclusive……

  • Gilgamesh2025

Happy about Jacky (my fave char in VF) and of course about the new ladies! ;P

  • David García Abril

So, 5 new characters… 2 of them from previous games, another 2 from the NG series (meaning, they recycled the models) and one from VF…

I’d prefered if they had added one or two brand new characters as well. Rig and Mila were nice additions, specially the latter, but it felt a little bit short.

Oh, well, it’s not that a big deal, I guess.

Better that they keep the characters all unique and different then extreme in amount.

Just look at tekken’s mass production of Kazuya clones (Jin, Heihatchi, Devil, Angel, Devil Jin, please stop me…) or street fighters infinite Ryu (Ken, Akuma, Dan, Sakura. Evil Ryu, and so on…).

      • Francesco D’Arcangeli

Indeed, the whole Ryu cloning thing was depressing.

      • http://takopako.tumblr.com takopako

they arent clones…(not all of them, at least)

      • Vesperion

Those tekken guys aren’t anymore “clone” then Gen-fu and Eliot. We hear Ein and Leon with play different then the others, but i’m sure it’s gonna play out the same way Tag 2 did

        • $7573679

Those Tekken guys got the same moves and same mechanism.

When it comes to Gen Fu and Eliot (Master and Apprentice) their animations are not alike at all, their mechanism is not alike at all, they don’t even share a single move to my knowledge.

        • zaidandzhadow

have you played any DOA, elliot, gen-fu even the style is different isn’t even the same name

    • Testsubject909

Rig is good fun. More people using Tae Kwon Do is good in my book.

  • Guest

Hm, I remember Ein as a very fast character. Wonder how this will play out. I mean, if he is slower than Leon, then he is reeeeally slow, yes?

  • Bob Obb

Are you sure you’re not mixing up Leon and Ein? Ein the karate guy, you’re saying he’s slower than that old ass dude in the turban? lol

  • Francesco D’Arcangeli

Hm, so it’s either Power Blow or Power Launcher… that makes for a series of new strategies.
I can’t wait to see what changes have they brought (if any) to my Gen Fu!

  • TrannyMagic

I really like that DOA5U is a ‘new’ fighting game as opposed to thinking it was just DOA5 with added content :)

  • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 水木

Momiji actually looks a lot better here

  • Nitraion

Aww I was expecting more…Like Aoi or Eileen o well
    Ryu’s Mistress Assemble!!!

    • Testsubject909

Ryu’s Harem Assemble! Is more what I’d think.

  • younglad

Very glad to see Rachel back in action, since missing out on NG3.
Guess I’m gonna have to buy another version of DoA5 after all :I
