Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will have a new 30-minute-long drama that will play during the compilation’s credits sequence, this week’s issue of Shounen Jump magazine reports from Japan.

This 30-minute sequence will feature newly recorded voices and will be written by Kazushige Nojima, the scenario writer for the two games.

So stuff like this is why it’s taking forever to come out eh..I really hope this game comes out some time this year like they said

  • Randgriz

    FF X-3

    • i was thinking the exact same thing!

    • Anime10121

I’d buy it! Though I have NO idea what it would even be about.

      • Charles Parker

Kingdom Hearts or Dissidia Tidus getting involved?

        • Anime10121

But those Tidus’s and the real Tidus are from completely different universe’s (well MAYBE the Dissidia one is connected).

        • KnifeAndFork

The hunt after Lightning for stealing Yuna’s outfit!

        • Julio D. Zulkarnain

Unrelated, but I want Tidus to appear again in KH3 so bad…

      • Ethan_Twain

I actually think that’s an easy one. You tell the story of Braska’s journey. FF X did a fantastic job of just showing isolated highlights out of that. We already know kind of how it starts and how it ends, but so much of the middle is empty.

We know Jecht goes from alcoholic asshole to regretful dad to guy who was willing to lay down his life to become the final aeon.

We know Auron went from straight laced gaurdian from Bevelle who disapproved of this Jecht vagabond to a friend so close he fulfilled his final promise to look after Tidus even after death. We know he turned from a believer to a cynic.

We know Braska wasn’t ideal summoner material what with his marriage to an Al Bhed and unwillingness to toe the holy line. We know he ended up being willing to fully submit his life to the ritual of the church of Yevon. How did he go from point A to point B?

How did any of these characters get from where they started to where they ended? There is a lot of character growth that happens, but the how’s and why’s remain unexplored. I think that this is very ripe material for a Final Fantasy X-3. Not to mention, how cool would it be to play a JRPG where the party goes to save the world but at the end of the day you… don’t. That fight against inevitability that the player KNOWS the party will fail would potentially cast this game in a completely different light than any other JRPG ever.

“That fight against inevitability that the player KNOWS the party will fail would potentially cast this game in a completely different light than any other JRPG ever.”

          It was called Crisis Core.

          • Ethan_Twain

That’s part of the FF VII universe, right? Never played those. Good to know about though.

          • Free hat

christ yes even though you go into Crisis Core knowing what happens to Zack when it happens it still made me emotional and teary eyed.

Except we already saw most of the fight. Auron just tackled Yunalesca and he went down. Come to think of it, maybe Auron became badass thanks to his death.

        • Steven Higgins

Or they could bridge the gap between X-2 an VII. There was some foreshadowing the the character Shinra may actually be the founder of the Shin-ra Corporation. Maybe show how Spira started to develop into Midgar? Then we could have a whole new cast (with cameos from X/X-2) just as if it were a whole new game instead of a sequel.

          • Solomon_Kano

Eh, I wouldn’t want that to happen. That was a nice little reference, but let’s not have Square Enix turn this into “FFX was part of the Compilation of FFVII all along!”

          • Steven Higgins

I think it was more than a reference. Shinra did express interest in weather or not the Pyreflies in the Farplane could be used as an energy source. Which is exactly what the Shin-ra Corporation did with the Lifestream.

        • Free hat

As a game it would probably step on X’s toes to much since the world is similar just set years ago, but as a series of OVA’s or a graphic novel series this would still be fantastic.

    • NoLastName

I would happily buy a FF X-3, Spira was an amazing world I’d love to travel through it again

    • artemisthemp

Sadly doubt they would make one this many years after, but I would buy it as long as they put it on Sony system.

  • MyBodyIsReady

Can’t wait to get this on my Vita

    • Daniel Williams

      right there with you

  • Arcana Wiz

woah 30 minutes is a lot if it’s just story, I think that is probably the epilogue of X-2.

  • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

I hope it stays true to word drama and has a serious tone rather than a comical tone. In Nojima I trust.

  • ok, YES!!!

  • JustThisOne

Interesting. :O Maybe there will be a nice segway from X to X-2.

    • Solomon_Kano

It could also be set after X-2.

      • JustThisOne

It could, yes. But I’d imagine it would be hard to craft it around the ending system of X-2. If they can pull it off, it’d be awesome.

        • Solomon_Kano

I didn’t play X-2, so what was the ending system like?

          • JustThisOne

Well, you know how X-2 basically works, right? You basically choose locations on a map to progress each chapter. Sometimes, events happen. Depending on which events you trigger, the endings can be different.

          • Solomon_Kano

Oh, so multiple endings. I figure they’d probably just pick one for the new scenario to follow if it’s set after X-2. Like how Nier is set after 1 particular Drakengard ending.

          • Plus, there was a new game + feature so you retained all the dress spheres and other stuff you collected.

          • Solomon_Kano

So I’d assume that’d make it easier to get X ending the next time around rather than starting with nothing?

          • I would believe so, though, I never continued my own new game + after I started mine.

          • Sammy Boy

Oh yeah, a second run through made for an easy 100 percent.

          • Solomon_Kano

Ok, cool. Didn’t want to have to play through the game 3 and 4 times lol.

          • Ethan_Twain

It’s kind of a tier system. The higher your completion percentage, the better ending you unlock, the happier Yuna seems set up to live the rest of her life in the final cinematic.

Which is kind of evil, now that I lay it out that way. Perhaps the most insidious motivation to 100% a game. “Do everything, or this character you loved from FF X isn’t gonna achieve full self actualization.”

          • Solomon_Kano

That’s pretty hilarious. More games should do that lol.

Your favorite character dies at the end? Shoulda beat the extra hard secret boss, you jerk.

  • 3PointDecoupage

I hope they redub that aweful laughing scene.

    • Neophoton

Pretty certain it was meant to be cheesy and bad.

      • Prof. Bananas Goldsteinberg

This. The amount of people that simply don’t understand this is staggering.

    • Time Sage

The laughing scene is bad in universe! Lulu and Waka and the others stare at them during it with expressions of confusion. During the NEXT scene right after, one of them (Wakka I think?) remarks that they were worried the two of them had actully lost it. They were FAKE laughing on purpose to cheer themselves up.

  • Neophoton

Not really worth a purchase for me after all of the hours I put into FFX (and I did give Last Mission a shot awhile ago), so I’ll just hope someone gives a summary online to see what the buzz is about. Still nice for people who never got to play the original and/or just immensely enjoyed it. :)

  • Skode

Im getting the game anyway so be nice to actually see something completely new for my efforts… this is a nice touch SE, well played.

  • Nightmesh

So they can’t redub the whole game again?

  • Pedro Furtado

Will it play the same video on both games?

  • NoLastName

It’d be nice if this sequence shows how Tidus and Yuna’s life plays out, and Wakka and Lulu’s child..

    • TheExile285

      I’d like that

  • Göran Isacson

And then during thee pilogues last moment, Yuna gets a call from Rikku…

“Yunie, it’s… it’s the list of names we found of people from Zanarkand. But the records say… they’ve been dead for over 100 years!”
“… Yes? Everyone from Zanarkand was a dream, remember?”
“Oh. Oh yeah, you’re right. No idea why I didn’t recall that, or found it worth pointing out.”

And then it ends with Paine going “It all went as you planned it… Grand Maester Mika.”
*Cue the dramatic music and soft voice whispering “Zipper Eaterrrr…”

  • Hinataharem

Is it an animated drama? Or just voices?

  • Pyreflies of MJ

Why are people stanning for a prequel!? Stop it, I do not want to play a game about Auron, Braska and Jecht! -_-

  • Raltrios

Scrolled down the page a little and my first thought was, “Woah, now that’s an ass.”

    Fanservice in everything these days.
