I hope they change the story mode’s ending since the manga stretched a little. They should’ve waited to release storm 3 period

  • Göran Isacson

Ssssooo the graphical update is a filter that makes everything blurrier and darker? Cause I gotta admit, I’m not seeing that many improvements in the “after” pictures.

    • SerendipityX

This^. Are they sure they didn’t get the screenshots mixed up? Most of the before pictures look better and some of the after pictures seem to have more detail.

    • Pfantzypantz

That’s pretty unfair to say. The lighting and ambience has become much better ( saying it’s just a filter is pretty insulting to their work here), they changed effects and made the cutscenes more fluid/ animated.

      • SerendipityX

I’m thinking the screenshots are just not doing a good job of showing the improvements. Maybe we need to see it motion b/c this is making me scratch my head in confusion.

      • Göran Isacson

Huh, do they have a trailer up somewhere else? Because I can’t very well tell if the cutscenes have become more fluid when these are just stills.

And while there seems to have been some change to… some strange effect with the Kyuubi, I will still say that these “after” screens still seem more dark and blurry, and it’s harder for me to make out what’s happening. It may be a different matter when you see it in motion, but since I don’t have a trailer here I can’t really say much about that.

        • Sarthak Verma

its on youtube now, but i suppose u have already seen that

  • megacool

    lots of lighting now

  • http://Youtube.com/Dyjuan1 Rising Overlord

Hope they don’t try and charge full price for this. It could have been dlc but to redo a good game I don’t think so.

    • Kurizu208

They are releasing this update as DLC.

      • http://Youtube.com/Dyjuan1 Rising Overlord

        really that’s new to me

        • Sarthak Verma

          Well now you know!

  • Robert Hendrie

I hope this isn’t just the pc version that looks like this

  • pantsonadog

They should use video to compare the graphics. It looks like they just added a brown filter over it.

    • RisukuAozora

I don’t understand the downvote. I mean, if people are complaining that they can’t see the difference, it’d help the persuasion.
Personally, I can see the improvements in some of the images (particularly the ones with the fox) but others, yea, i can see where the complaints are coming from.

  • Pinwheel

New filters != graphical enhancements. If they’re trying to sell people on the graphics and the new chapter alone, it had better be around 10$ or cheaper.

    • monkey king

It’s not just filters obviously, you can clearly see they’ve changed the lighting drastically in some scenes, plus that part with the kyuubi emerging seems to have updated detail surrounding his face.

And believe it or not, but “filters” do give a performance hit because they actually do offer graphical enhancement.

      • Pinwheel

Yeah, the thing with the nine-tails is, infact, a graphical update. I’ll agree, yes, I’m wrong on that part and a few others did actually change some things. They still don’t really add that much to this.

A fair amount of this is simply just changing the lighting on things and making the contrast of things more significant. It doesn’t make things look better necessarily, just different. It’s nothing to brag about or advertise this DLC as.

        • xxqwertyx

Shaders actually not filters. And you don’t know how hard it is to make a 3D models to look like 2D image that’s taken from the anime itself. Look carefully at old graphics, they look like 3D models with cel shader slapped on a 3D backgrounds, but the new ones looks like screenshots from an anime movie of naruto itself. I’m a programmer and to emulate that is actually pretty hard to do. Though i understand your stand coz the change in details are pretty minute, but all those little details they put in there, i assure you, they put a lot of hard work in there too.

          • Sergio Briceño

I agree in that it’s difficult. Which is why they shouldn’t have bothered in the first place as the original NSUNS graphics were a lot more similar to the anime.

It’s obvious they implemented darker filters (or shaders as you say) just so they could make their new enhancements noticeable, the problem is said enhancements have made it lose it’s anime appeal. Look at the bijuu chakra tug of war pics and compare both (NSUNS3 and FB) to the anime and tell me which one is actually the best one.

It may look more realistic now, but sadly it’s too different from the anime too. I’m still getting it for the Kabuto fight (which “should” have been the hidden fight in NSUNS3) as that is probably the only thing that interests me of this update. But if they make it avaliable as a download I might not even get this.

          • Pinwheel

I wasn’t criticizing the amount of work put into it. And no, they really don’t look like 2D here. They’re still very blatantly 3D. If you’re looking for 3D that looks 2D, Guilty Gear Xrd has pulled that off very well in its in-game aspects.

And sorry, the amount of work put into something doesn’t necessarily make it quality. There can be tons of hard work put into something, that doesn’t mean people are going to like it.

        • Sergio Briceño

Don’t you think for a second the updated graphics are the selling point. The real hook here is the “real” hidden fight against Kabuto.

  • xxvaynxx

unlike everybody else here :o i think the new look, looks nice :)

  • Shiro

idk, i prefer the darker atmosphere look of the original version.

  • SonicRulez

Namco thinks they’re Capcom now? I’m willing to bet the Kage show up as characters in this one considering the chapter vs Kabuto that was oddly left out is here. I’m disappointed.

  • TheExile285

I’m glad that I’ll be able to update my original copy with the the new characters, stories and DLC….. but why the help couldn’t they just include in this in the first release. It hasn’t even been 6 months since I got my SE copy.

This marks the second time this year I’ve been burned like this….

  • Vash bane

the kushina and 4th scene looks beautiful

  • grevlinghore

That´s cool and cheap at the same time. They should have made the visuals as good as can be in the first place. Seriously, who goes: “Let´s release the game with less-than-optimal visuals, so that half a year later people can spend money to get the game with improved visuals!”

    Cheap as hell.

    • monkey king

Nobody goes *whatever dumb stuff you just said*, it’s called deadlines; if developers had their way they would take decades to finish their games, cept along the way the money well would dry up and the game would become vaporware or would be released “unfinished” anyway.

Literally every game has stuff scrapped completely because of time constraints.

      • grevlinghore

Be that as it may – I´ve been a gamer for about 20 years, and this is the first time I experience witnessing a game releasing and then re-releasing itself with improved visuals within the same year. In my eyes that looks like cheap fishing for money.

  • Sergio Briceño

It’s sharper and everything but it’s lost some of it’s appeal. Take the bijuu chakra tug of war pic for example, in the anime it looked a LOT more similar to the original NSUNS3, this is a case were updated graphics even when prettier aren’t true to the original material in which they were based on…

But yeah getting it cuz of the fight with Kabuto. The hidden fight in NSUNS3 was such a let down.

  • Musashi234

Sweet Jesus after Capcom went and did the “improvement game” thing all other companies want to as as well. This could easily be dlc here we go again making a vanilla ver. of a game useless.

    • Kurizu208

They are releasing this update as DLC.

      • Musashi234

Oh They are thank god sheesh!

  • Logan Moll

It looks like an anime vs a movie. The original seems far more colorful. The update looks to make everything more drab and remove a lot of the vibrancy. To make up for this, we get better lighting? I’m honestly not impressed at all.

    • AndyLC

You don’t usually notice it, but many animes don’t have that ‘vibrant’ of a color pallet. It’s more they use colors to suit the mood, and use different hues to change the mood.

It’s a large difference between US and Japanese cartoons.

      • Logan Moll

That may be, but when I compare these images, I see the ‘new’ ones looking like someone turned the color dial way the hell down and put a brown/dirt filter over the screen. A graphical ‘update’ should never be described that way lol.

  • Rafael Martines

    Edo Kages?

    • http://Youtube.com/Dyjuan1 Rising Overlord

      sadly no so far

  • Jesse Torres

How about changing the fighting mechanics, by making the combos longer and to bring back the left stick combo, that’s just plane lazy.

  • AndyLC

The thing with great anime lighting is we REMEMBER it to be vibrant and evocative, but when you look at it frame by frame it’s actually quite subtle the way they use hues to convey mood and atmosphere. It’s actually quite jarring to just have lots of colors all the time, and if anything that is the mark of a throwaway filler episode by less experienced animation teams.

So yeah, this is a great update, the lighting is more atmospheric and I’m sure it’ll be fantastic in motion!
