Trails in the Flash Comparison Screenshots Compare PS3 And Vita Versions

By Ishaan . July 11, 2013 . 5:20pm

Falcom have shared comparison screenshots between the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash on the game’s website. Here’s how the two versions look next to one another:

PS3:

Vita:

PS3:

Vita:

You might want to enlarge the screenshots to make out the differences as, to Falcom’s credit, they aren’t very obvious at a smaller size.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash will be released on September 26th in Japan.

  • Sim

ps3 has more lighting or so it seems (im really bad at this stuff) lol

    • Lester Paredes

I agree. There seems to be more shine to the PS3 version.

  • https://twitter.com/BinksFrost Binks5

man the ps3 version is so much shinier

  • IshimaruKaito

lol its so hard to tell….i don’t really see a difference tho

  • sherimae1324

wow, they are almost looks like the same….

i wonder what will games look visually in the vita for next couple of years ^_^

    • Katboy

yes..my hope is that future games intended for the ps3 will be on the Vita instead..

      • KnifeAndFork

        why

        • Testsubject909

I believe he or she just wants the portable option… if it’s not “Instead of on the PS3″ and “Be on both PS3 and Vita”.

Well, the portable option of PS3 games without having to rely on Remote Play.

          • Katboy

yep..and I mostly prefer jrpgs on my handhelds. I’ll get this on my vita instead of the ps3 for example. thats me anyways..

  • endaround

The PS3 has slightly better lighting and the ground textures aren’t as blurry. But given the relative size of the screens these will be on, in actual practice you might not be able to see the difference.

  • Aristides

The PS3 ver looks a little more vibrant but given that screenshots never give the Vita’s OLED justice the Vita version will likely pop out more on the smaller screen. Result? relative equal quality across both platforms.

  • alangato

Wow it’s almost the same!! That’s really nice.

The only difference I noticed was the enemy order on that battle screenshot lol

  • mirumu

It’s a credit to them how small the differences are. The PS3 version is definitely better, the most obvious ways being it’s use of higher detail textures in some places and the lighting, but it’s not something that’ll jump out at you when playing.

  • isotrex

Both of them looked freakin’ good.

  • Go2hell66

Yup no difference whatsoever but thats only because the ps3 version looks horrible. Very nice looking for a vita game though

  • Bacon_n_Lettuce

I’ve noticed that some of the time Vita games tend to have a sort of blur effect over 3D character models, while other Vita games are perfectly capable of supporting sharp character models. What would be the cause of that?

    • xXDGFXx

      Upscaled to native resolution.

      • Bacon_n_Lettuce

Yeah, now that you mention it, all the Vita games I’ve seen that have PS3 versions as well have 3D models that appear blurred, while games that are developed specifically for the Vita are sharp. I guess that would make perfect sense if they’re scaling the resolution from one version to match the other!

  • DarthSithZero

Both look great . . . Now is this coming to America?

    • SoraShadowNever

      One can hope so.

    • Kevadu

“Now is this coming to America?”

If you start learning Japanese now you’ll be fluent before this sees a US release.

      • Testsubject909

Never mentioned this but. Kefka as your avatar. Awesome.

      • equalequation

I started learning Japanese around the time SC came out and I was fluent before FC saw an English release.

        So yeah. Truth, this.

    • Solomon_Kano

After SC, 3rd, Zero, and Ao get released…

For the love of everything that is good, my PS3 and Vita want this! >_<

I believe a localization is needed lol =^_^=

    • KnifeAndFork

I punched the person who downvoted you and made a sandwich out of him

      • Testsubject909

I’m just going to upvote everyone.

      • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

        Upvoted lol =^_^=

  • Luis Camargo

How many Trails games has it been now ? I know they localized only the first one, but how many of those are available in Japan ?

    • brian

All of them are available in Japan?
Or if you’re wondering about the number they’ve made:
      Sora no Kiseki 1/2/3
      Zero/Ao no Kiseki
Ys vs Sora no Kiseki, if it counts
Nayuta no Kiseki, but it has no connections to main kiseki games.
      Sen no Kiseki, this one
      I think that’s it.

  • 紅蓮

Buying Vita version, because I have less time at home lately :(

  • Katboy

nice! the ps3 obviously has better looking textures, less blurry, but fantastic all the same..my Vita needs this – if it comes to the west that is…

  • d19xx

Nice! They’re almost equal quality wise. I just hope the Vita version doesn’t suffer from framerate issues.

  • cloudcaelum

Vita version for me, i like play games at night in my bed with headset, especially JRPG’s, wohooo.

    • Ric Vazquez

      Likewise

    • Testsubject909

My TV’s right in front of my bed so I can do either.

Actually I’d avoid playing portables while being extremely sleepy as well… I remember one time falling asleep and waking up to find out I slept on top of my Vita the whole night.

Battery died and the whole handheld was warm. Though it didn’t show any damage or trouble. So it’s all good.

… Then I lost my Vita just prior to a friend’s birthday celebration and had to repurchase a Vita for myself.

      • cloudcaelum

Good for you, but can you turn right or left when you playing games? i think you can’t. In generally this why i loved!

And yea, battery is no problem, even good things, cuz i can relax when in charge.

        Sorry for you.

  • Testsubject909

    *looks down*

Oh hey. Random downvoter is back… Project UPVOTE EVERYBODEH Activate!

  • S- Class Wizard KaRamo

I can see the differences without enlarging it, the ps3 version have more texture and more color but i don’t give a f**k the vita version for me

  • http://www.falgram.com/ Falmung

My eyes are bad because I see no difference.

  • WhyWai

man… I wish I understand japanese… so tat I can play all these games that will not get localised..

  • https://twitter.com/BinksFrost Binks5

home consoles have the advantage of being full screen and being shinier while portable has the advantage on being portable both are nice features in their own right

  • Solomon_Kano

Color’s off in the Vita screens. Everything’s lighter than in the PS3 ones, so the colors look kinda… flat. Apart from that though, looks just as good.

  • tubers

Doesn’t seem like native res on the VITA with that slightly fuzzed look. (below native with some AA I bet).

  • Elvick

Most games for Vita look that way off the OLED screen.

I kept watching trailers of NGS+ and it looked washed out and bleh, but when I finally bought the game it looked great. And nothing like the screens or videos.

  • Solomon_Kano

Yea, Vita games always look better once you see em on the system itself.
