Monster Hunter Frontier G Soaring Its Way To PlayStation 3 And Wii U

Capcom’s online title, Monster Hunter Frontier G, which was previously available for PC and Xbox 360, will be released for PlayStation 3 and Wii U later this year, according to this week’s Famitsu magazine.

While the game requires monthly fees to play in Japan, the actual download will be available for free, and the physical copies will cost 6,090 yen.

Monster Hunter Frontier G is the upgraded version of Monster Hunter Frontier, featuring new monsters, areas, weapons, armors, quests, and actions for all 11 weapons. Capcom are currently testing trophy functions for the PlayStation 3 version, and it will also include a beginner’s pack of various weapons and armor.

Meanwhile, the Wii U version will be compatible with the GamePad and the Wii U Pro controller; however, it won’t work with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. Additionally, Capcom are currently testing out possible features using the 3DS for the Wii U version. Similar to its PlayStation 3 counterpart, the Wii U version will include its own beginner’s pack featuring a different set of weapons and armor.

The game content for the upcoming versions will be the same as those in the PC and Xbox 360; however, they will have their own servers, meaning there won’t be any cross-play going on between the newer versions and older ones. The magazine has not specified whether the PlayStation 3 and Wii U versions will be sharing servers.

Prior to the game’s release, players will get to try it out free, for an entire week. Once it’s released, the physical copies will go for 6,090 yen while the downloadable versions will be free of charge. The monthly fees will also remain the same, going by tickets which can be acquired for 1,400 yen for 30 days; or a certain amount of Wii U Points, similar to Monster Hunter Tri in Japan, which charged players subscription fees, unlike the North American version.

Monster Hunter Frontier G will be available for PlayStation 3 on November 20th, and Wii U on December 11th.
