This Arcade Stick Celebrates 25 Years Of Arc System Works

By Spencer . July 30, 2013 . 1:53am

arcstickArc System Works is celebrating its 25th year of being in business and this arcade stick is a special item for the company’s anniversary. It’s a PS3 stick with interchangeable face plates. The one on the right is Pillar and Light. You also get a BlazBlue: Chronophantasma faceplate and a BlayzBloo faceplate.

The stick and buttons are made by Sanwa Denshi and have the same position as the arcade. The difference is the buttons have special symbols on them. The 25th anniversary arcade stick costs 21,000 yen ($210) and will launch alongside BlazBlue: Chronophantasma on October 24.

My God these things are pricey.

  • Go2hell66

eh i dunno. looks kinda weird

  • Curan_Altea

…. The urge to buy is insanely strong given the price.
I’ve been meaning to buy a better stick though.

  • Wappuli

Looks nice and I would really like to buy it, sadly I have no use for a stick on PS3.
Shmups are on xbox360 and I seriously suck at using stick in fighting game.

    • Setsu Oh

give months & you ll never go back

      • Wappuli

eeh? But all that effort. . .
I think I’ll just keep things as they are.

        • Setsu Oh

i have been playing games for a long time.
fighting games too. i m a casual fighter.
i dont spend days learning a char.
what i wanted was a new way to see fighting games, a new experience.
specially when games like street fighter refuse to go full 3d and change more than the wee tiny bit they usually do.
playing stick does that. you find chars you never even looked at during your pad era.
i.e. i love andy bogard. i didnt on pad.
it is another point of view, a refresh on an old page.

          i wont go back.

  • AokiShizuku

I’m not a huge arcade stick fanatic but goddamn that looks classy.

  • http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/21421.html?type=4 Kashell

Looks nice. I have been meaning to try to get better with a control stick but it is HARD having been using a regular control pad most of the time. >_<

  • Judgephoenix

It is pricey but its worth it. If you also wanna use it for both systems their is an adapter you could buy.

    • DriftSlave

I don’t see how, 360 always had a security measure against that sort of thing which was always problematic for duo-modding for stick modders, there is no simple adapter for fightsticks.

If you want to play on both systems you’ll have to buy a special PCB which isn’t cheap.

They should make a PS4 version

  • Mike Pureka

BlayzBloo faceplate is too adorable. Chibi Izayoi is awesome.

  • TheExile285

    Oh god, I want it…

    I want it bad.

  • lozffvii

    *After reading first paragraph*
Huh, sounds really cool. I might consider getting it…
    *After reading second paragraph*
    $210?!?!
    Two-hundred-and-ten-fucking-dollars!?!?
    FUCK. NO.
I might’ve bought it if it had been $50-$100, but OVER $200?
    NO. Just…no.

    • DriftSlave

Your over reacting, the Hori Fighting Edge was $199 MSRP and so was the Madcatz V.S. Stick. $210 is justified since it’s not only a limited edition stick, it comes with custom buttons and pre-made exchangeable artwork, something you would have to pay extra money for anyways. *smh* Most good quality sticks run for $150+ MSRP when not on sale.

      • lozffvii

Maybe you’re right. I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve never looked up how much arcade sticks normally are.
I’ve only recently been considering it, and honestly I don’t really think I need any excess expenditure anyway.

        • Shane Guidaboni

I have two custom arcade sticks. Handmade for me by someone, and they both ran me around $140.

        • Zarathos No Daimaōh

a good stick wont cost you 50 , unless used . t’s so far always in the 80-150 ballpark

    • Josué

You can always make your own arcade stick, although seimitsu and sanwa buttons and sticks are always pricey.

  • RichyGaming

Right after a few weeks when I bought an Arcade Stick with BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend: Limited Edition. FUCK!

  • Solomon_Kano

Looks like I’m finally gonna learn to fight stick.

    • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 水木

$200 is a lot of money to spend when the PS4 won’t be compatible with PS3 sticks

      • Solomon_Kano

Well, my PS3 fighters won’t be compatible with PS4 either, so that works out lol.

      • Zarathos No Daimaōh

Who told you it wont be compatible ? So far , besides the dualshock pad , most things usb works . It’s the Xbox One that confirmed not compatible , and already got its of Madcatz

        • Setsu Oh

A SONY GUY SAID IT WOULD BUT I HEARD IT WOULDN T SINCE E3 oops caps.
          i think it was on…GI?

          • Zarathos No Daimaōh

It’s the Madcatz TE that’s confirmed not working so far . Basically everything normal hid-compliant usb input devices should work

  • Setsu Oh

HAS ANYONE TRIED A PS3 MADCATZSTICK ON A PC WITH A VIA CHIPSET USB HUB??

if it works maybe our old sticks will have a new life with fighting games going on pc! buying that new stick NOW is pretty dicey i find. there is no hard proof one can use a ps3stick on a ps4 yet. and with the big two saying things then retracting them.. i find difficult buying a stick now.
