The King of Fighters XIII Looks Like It’s Headed To PC Via Steam

By Ishaan . August 8, 2013 . 2:00pm

It looks as though The King of Fighters XIII is headed to PCs. EventHubs spotted a leaked logo for a “Steam Edition” of the game on Valve’s Steam service, along with a trailer, both of which have now been taken down.

It looks like SNK may be handling the PC release of The King of Fighters XIII themselves. Both Atlus USA and Rising Star Games, who published the title in North America and Europe respectively, have confirmed to Siliconera that they aren’t involved with its Steam release.

  • Still waiting on KOF 98 UM and KOF 2K2 UM to show up. It was confirmed a while back that they were listed in the Steam DB but XIII is the only one to have shown up to this degree.

    • EdgeKun

If we’re lucky, maybe they’ll see a simultaneous launch with XIII! (As a pre-order bonus mayhaps?) One can hope, anyway.

    • Gyro Zeppeli

There’s a rumor flying around that KOF98UM will be given away as a preorder bonus for KOFXIII.

      • Can you link where this rumor is? I wouldn’t mind passing it around.

    • TheHolypopeofgaming

the Arcade Version of UM is on PC if you know where to look.

      • I know of it. I’d rather be legit.

        • TheHolypopeofgaming

Can’t get more legit than arcade code.

  • wat_wat

Sweet. More fighters on PC. Hopefully the netcode isn’t complete ass this time. Just hearing about how bad it was deterred me from buying it on consoles because I have no one to play against locally. Knowing SNK’s track record with netcode, I doubt they fixed it.

Then again, I get stomped online anyways. I like playing fighters now and then, but I suck at them =P

  • Warboss Aohd

watch da salez skyrocket da first sale it’s apart of.

  • TheHolypopeofgaming

Well if you’re savvy enough you’ve been playing this on PC for years. Seeing at the Arcade version was hacked for PC use

    • cmonandslam

That version is terrible. Its not only an older version with less characters, but it doesn’t even support things like controllers or different resolutions or a windowed mode. Having to play a fighting game using xpadder is absolutely disgusting.

  • DesmaX

Here, someone uploaded the trailer on Youtube:

    • Shane Guidaboni

It’s not any different from earlier trailers of the game -_-

  • echo78

Mortal Kombat, then Skullgirls, now this? Too many fighting games coming to PC all at once :D

    • TrevHead

SF4, Skullgirls and KOF make a great combination for anyones FTG collection imo

      • RazeXI

hell all I need is guilty gear xrd to come out on PC and I’m set :D

        • Vadim Merzhey

Unlike Blazblue, uilty Gear has a chance.

          • RazeXI

Is there a legitimate explanation for that besides that guilty gear runs on the unreal engine?

          • Vadim Merzhey

Sega Sammy will be publishing the game. They may as well demand a PC port. GGXX got a PC release.

    • Chaos_Knight

      I bet Tekken is next.

    • pekikuubik

And Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm, a major improvement over the original Yatagarasu. GGPO has been achieved and there are 3 days left to go for any additional goals!

  • eilegz

hopefully come with all DLC characters, and use ggpo as netcode…

    • Shane Guidaboni

Better netcode would save this game in the long run.

    • Tee Niitris

      GGPO deconfirmed (unfortunately) :(

      • Just Tim

Pardon my Grammar Nazism, but “deconfirmed” is Yipes-speak for “disconfirmed.”

With that out of the way, I’m glad that SNK is bringing its lineup, while using King of Fighters XIII as a test run.

  • Corey Owens

It’s been in the Steam database for months now.

Glad to see it finally confirmed.

  • Unlimax

There’s only one studio left with no PC releases : PlatinumGames

    • TrevHead

Well they have said that they thought about PC ports, however imo many of their IPs are either owned by the Publishers or have exclusivity / moneyhat deals. Hopefully they will build up enough independence to do what they want in the future.

    • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

      Metal Gear Rising

    • petran79

SNK released some of their fighters on PC during the 90s

  • TrevHead

    Great news!

Hopefully my 360 brawlstick will work with it. Although playing the 360 version I might need to swap out the vanilla madcatz buttons for ones with less travel so I can do those super fast combos that make skullgirls combos seem like a walk in the park.

  • Aristides

It would be nice if we got a Vita version too <3

    • leingod

Best portable for fighting games. I’d love some KOF XIII on the go.

  • Musashi234

    Bring on the mods!

  • Lester Paredes

Well. I guess that’s another fighter to add to my growing list of fighters on PC. Who’d have thought?

  • Shady Shariest

    MORE Fighting games for PC…
    *Kneels* *Prays for (Your choice)*

  • Göran Isacson

I have to admit I’m curious how many people play fighting games on PCs. I’m so used to thinking of them as an arcade/console experience that I’m curious if the PC market is just a drop in the ocean or if there’s substantial gains to the fanbase to earn here.

  • CirnoLakes

Japanese RPGs and Fighting games are exactly what my Steam needs more of!
