    I am wet of excitement

    • Demeanor

Not really the proper reaction if you mean to ride a Unicorn XDXDXD

      • NewestType

ok, I am officially taking a sabbatical from any mount related topics.

  • Longsun_Zhao

This game has so many awesome mounts! Too bad I won’t be using any of them except for the Magitek Armor. (It plays Terra’s Theme as you ride it, enough said.)

    • d19xx

The only mount I want is a raptor. So I can name it Parappa….

    • NewestType

ooo nice point. Is it possible to own multiples?

      • SuperSailorV

Pretty sure it is. I have the Goobbue from 1.0, and am able to also ride my Chocobo. They’re just inventory items to call each one (i.e. Chocobo Whistle calls your chocobo, Goobbue Horn calls your Goobbue).

I will be on amount collecting mssion for a while then :)
one for every Class I choose ^_^

  • riceisnice

Unicorns can only be touched by virgin hands… And you said you totally scored one last week >_>

    • d19xx

I’m right handed, so my left is technically a virgin.

  • Thrasher429

Now hands free jousting is finally possible….patch it in SE

    • Longsun_Zhao

I dunno what kind of jousting you do with your unicorn, but when I do it I need at least one hand. Maybe two.

To anyone already familiar with the game: never played FF XIV, I’m thinking of trying a Summoner, will I be able to dps and use big bad aeons to fry groups of mobs? Or do I only have small scale spirits and/or a support role? Could I effectively combine Summoner with Black Mage?

    • Rocsas

The arcanist class (Summoner and Scholar base class) has powerful damage-over-time and debuffing abilities and use Carbuncle as a caster pet or a tank pet.
The Summoner job is the Damage specialist (maybe off-tank) and can summon small versions of Ifrit, Titan and Garuda.
The Scholars are meant to be supportive healers specializing in Healing over time spells that affect the whole party and they can summon fairies to help them do this.

The pets are definitely not big or bad. They’re quite cute in my opinion, but they have caused a bit of a ruckus for not being the size of the ingame primals. (who are pretty big.)

Whilst Summoner natively is a debuffer, pets have their own action bars that you can utilize. Garuda provides healing/wind magic, Titan provides a pet tank and earth whilst Ifrit serves as the fire elemental DPS. Arcanist has 2 Carbuncles but when it equips the summoner job stone, they literally upgrade from Emerald Carbuncle to Garuda and Topaz Carbuncle to Titan. (Same abilities, just more potent.)

From what we can see, SMN looks to be a dual role job using its own abilities as a potent debuffer and using a pet as a back up healer/dps/off tank depending on the situation. If you just like watching huge gods blowing up planets, I don’t think you’ll like it.

Thank you for the answers, everyone. Wow, looks like they changed the essence of summoning quite a bit, from single player rpg aoe nuking to basically a wow warlock. If so, I’ll keep an eye on the class but I think I’ll try Black Mage first for my nuking needs. :)

    Lol.. xDD

  • Bur

This. This is what has convinced me to give FFXIV a chance. How sad/awesome is my life?

    • NewestType

your love for unicorns is awesome. paying money to ride one in a video game might make one feel sad.

  • Suicunesol

I just got a flash of Tales of Phantasia.

If I ever play this game, I’ll name my unicorn Sleipnir.

  • Göran Isacson

… I wonder if there are certain… requirements, to ride a unicorn, or if they no longer discriminate.

Although it would be kind of amusing if they did and they made jokes about it in-game.

    • MogCakes

It means all Conjurers are virgins.

    • Arcana Wiz

lolololol, i mean i remember that on suikoden you could tell a girl in your party to try to talk with a unicorn and you could find who was a pure maiden or not.

      • Göran Isacson

Ha ha, I totally missed out on that! Was it the first suikoden (played that) or some of the sequels?

  • karasuKumo

I hope to Etro that they make Odin’s horse a rare mount. That would be insane.

    • Sleipnir! With Six Horse Legs of Power and Speed, allowing Zantetsuken to be even more likely to be successful! Also for Jousting with the Gungnir, which is more “Lore-Friendly” to most.

      • karasuKumo

You dear sir/madame, know your shit.

        • Sebastian Knauer

Except that… Sleipnir is supposed to have EIGHT legs. Silly FF designers.

  • AnimeGirlOfYourDreams

  • Aunna Terrell

Yoshi-P said that there will be different mounts depending on the regions… And some mounts can be found from dungeon loot too. XD This is going to be fun, collecting them all with friends. :D

  • sakusakusakura_nyo

    I want a unicorn because I’m a brony.
