“Make Falcom games from the comfort of your home.”

      *where’s the butter?!?!* D:

  • Milla

Article contain spoilers but who cares Kappa.

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Who cares? It’s not like any non-Japanese person is ever going to play any of these games~.

      • Milla

        i did~~

      • Slayven19

The majority of them won’t come here so why does it matter? Besides this is the spoilers from falcom themselves so whoever posted the article isn’t to blame.

      • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

That’s a very negative opinion. The Japanese language isn’t just reserved for the Japanese people, you know.

        • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Its complexity makes it so that it’s almost impossible for people to learn it without dedicating a few years to its study; granted a lot of us are already people with jobs / lives the chances of us learning it to play these games in a way they can be understood in all their glory are almost nil. So my comment, negative as it may sound to you, is the truth~.

If japanese would be an accessible language, there wouldn’t be so many people needing translations and localization companies would be extinct. Alas, such is not the case~.

          • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

I work 9-5 Monday to Friday and I’m studying once a week in the evening. I just passed year 1 with high marks. It’s really not nearly as complex as one would think–Korean and Chinese are much harder.

Not that I’d be able to play any of these games and understand everything yet–I have many years ahead of me. It ties into career options I wish to pursue in future though. Particularly, pro-translating.

      • エリン

Lots of non-Japanese play Japan-only games (myself included). Learning a language takes effort, not magic.

The real enemies are the bastard execs who won’t localize these games

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

How are they bastards when the amount of money needed to localize these games won’t be met by the amount of games purchased? The only “bastards” are the people who didn’t buy TitS~.

      • DesmaX

Yeah, lets forget that these games has more text than any other jrpg combined

        • Slayven19

That’s basically what he said when he mentioned they don’t have the amount of money. If they had money then no company would have a problem localizing the games because it’d make a profit.

          • DesmaX

            Not necessairly.

Even if it sold well enough (And had the power to work with this), this series requires so much work, just publishing a lot of other games would be more profitable for them

          • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

A lot of localized games are niches and the publishers know that. They just do it for people, Ys is niche yet it gets localized. If there’d be enough to cover costs of localizing LoH games I’m sure somebody’d do it. Alas, with the poor sales (though I’m sure a bunch of douchebags pirated the game) of the PSP version, it’s no wonder XSEED had to pass on further installments~.

          • DesmaX

Even if they publish niche games, they expect x sales. That x is determined by the costs of publishing, licensing costs, whatever. JRPG’s these days are not that expensive to publish, they have good amount of text, but nothing too much.

But, when you have fucking this:

(Apparently, this is all the voiced content for ZnK Evolution… Things that aren’t voiced aren’t there. And, Ao and Sen are supposed to be even bigger)

How do you even manage to match the x sales requires with this much work?

  • chibidw

There’s no boss more terrifying than overcoming the sprawling, insurmountable behemoth known as “localization”.

  • Tatsuya1221

Am i the only one who thought that vulcan looked like an older, evil dogi?

    • Presea

Vulcan really does though, it’s like a buffer Dogi with a scar and a huge machine gun.

    • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

      Starring Dogi as Vulcan Raven

  • Kami nii

Why is that most of the hot chicks are the villains? xD

    • PlayLife

Because hot chicks are evil :)

  • MrTyrant

It’s natural to hate Prime Minister Osborne.

  • Rashid Al Rabah

Gideon reminds me a lot of Gideon from Scott Pilgrim… e.e

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

    Oh god, want.

  • Kevin Schwarz

Let me guess, Scarlet lost one eye with that thing, her whip/sword?

  • Warboss Aohd

    …..dat iz a snake sword.
