The World Ends With You Developer Is Making Tales Of Bibliotheca

By Spencer . September 10, 2013 . 5:41pm

image Another Tales game for iOS was announced and Tales of Bibliotheca is not a port. It’s a new title made by Jupiter, the developer of The World Ends With You, and Tales producer Makoto Yoshizumi.

Tales of Bibliotheca is a collection of Tales stories that lets players experience the storylines on iOS. Chapter 1 covers Tales of Vesperia. Altogether, there are twelve chapters with story summaries and illustrations straight from other Tales games. Voicing acting from the original event scenes are in the game too. What’s new? Tales of Bibliotheca has original battles in the iOS game for players to fight.

The first chapter of Tales of Bibliotheca is free. Chapters 2-12 are 170 yen each or you can buy all twelve chapters for 1,700 yen ($18).

    This is oddly appealing

    • Jeffrey Thrash

It sounds like a big catch-up game for those of us that have ignored the series this generation, but are considering following it again. Shrewd move, Namco.

  • ronin4life

Needs more Deets… but this could be interesting.
What I really got out of this though: I need to finish Vesperia.

  • ReidHershel

Biblioteca is library in Spanish, just saying.

    • StarWallace

      I think that’s the point… It’s like a Tales library…

    • Romored

      In Italian, too.

    • Leonardo Duarte

      Portuguese too.

Biblios+tekos: Box/World of Books. It’s a word of greek origin

      I’m a Library Science student. :)

  • Presea

Quite literally a Tales of Library. Bibliotecha really fits this then, how clever Namco.

  • Arrei

So it’s like a collection of Tales visual novels?

    That’s… unexpected.

    • Alphabet Soup

They kinda did something similar with the Tales of Fandom games. I think they’d release one at the end of each console generation or so.

  • Ethan_Twain

Bummer! This means that Jupiter probably isn’t making TWEWY 2 or a new Picross game right now.

  • Flynn Scifo

Well, this could be interesting …

  • Sergio Briceño

For a second there, I thought this was a tie-in to ToV.

  • leingod

I was gonna say that it’s a stupid name, but it actually makes sense now. Kinda.

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

I love Tales and all, but I don’t think these stories stand on their own well enough for book format.

  • Kevin Schwarz

Ugh…we seriously need a new tales game, on consoles.

  • DyLaN

So its kinda like those RE Chronicles game then? Kinda curious abt how it plays and how it will look like. Would help a lot in attracting newcomers and help them catch up to the series.

But we probably won’t get this anyway so whatever.

  • Nathan Auroro Korvis Walsh

    360 Vesperia or PS3 Vesperia?

  • Göran Isacson

Huh… so it’s like “Tales of Abridged” retellings of old Tales of games? That’s… not an entirely bad idea. Could be a quick way to get newcomer fans in on the bare bones essentials of various Tales of- gameplots.

  • artemisthemp

Namco refuse to release ToV on PS3 in West, but they is ok releasing it to iOS and charge you $18 (Ok price for this great game) to play it.
