Ar Tonelico And Ciel no Surge Combined For Gust’s Next Game, Ar No Surge

By Sato . September 24, 2013 . 4:00am

Gust have been busy with New Atelier Rorona, but  However, fans of Ar Tonelico and Ciel no Surge will also have something to look forward to, as this week’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation reveals that their upcoming title, Ar no Surge, will be some sort of mix between the two games.

According to the magazine report, the game will be a RPG directed by Akira Tsuchiya, known for directing the three Ar Tonelico games, along with Ar Tonelico and Phantasy Star Universe illustrator “ntny” as the character designer

The world of Ar no Surge will revolve around magic and the power of thoughts. Flight Unit, the studio that has worked on several of Gust’s graphics and animation will create high quality models for the game. Their work will emphasize lighting and shading of the game’s sci-fi fantasy setting, with extra detail on metallic textures.

While the name Ar no Surge is indeed a combination of the two franchises, Ar Tonelico and Ciel no Surge, the relation between the games have not been revealed. However, the magazine reports that the language spoken in the world will be the same as the one from Ciel no Surge and the story will take place at a different time in the same world.

The protagonist is a young man named Delta Lantanoil, who appeared after Felion’s partition wall was opened. He has been protecting the town from Sharl, as part of the elite forces called “PLASM”. After a certain incident, he was discharged from the group, and is currently running a diner. His partner Acies is some sort of humanoid weapon.

The planet La Ciela is where the Genomes lived. The Sharl use song magic to kidnap the humans who have no means of communication. Meanwhile, after the partition wall opened, someone who lost the ability to perform ancient song magic appears. There’s also a certain township that has ancients who’ve awakened from cold-sleeps living together with the modern people. There’s a heaven ruler princess who governs Felion, a town where humans reside.

Ar no Surge will be an orthodox RPG that is split between three parts of towns, field and battle. However, the battle system will be a something of a hybrid system that uses turn-based command battles. The heroine character will use song magic from the back, while the protagonist protects her while fighting in the frontline. There will be some sort of action element to the battles, including a “Defend” system, according to Dengeki PlayStation.

You’ll be switching between Delta and Acies as you progress through the scenario and explore dungeons. There will also be a special feature that can be accessed through internet connectivity.

Finally, there’s a system that involves a person’s heart, called the “Genometric System”. This system will be used to power up the characters. Additionally, there will also be a synthesis system, that Gust games have been known for having.

Ar no Surge is slated for release on January 30, 2014, for PlayStation 3.

haha i miss their innuendos :)
The later Ar Tonelico installments didn’t have much of these anymore.

it may seem funny to us, but seriously speaking, it’s a very important thing for the characters. Not to mention very painful.

      • Mir Teiwaz

I wish they had just animated that part. It’s incredibly difficult to portray what was happening with a couple of 2D sprites just standing next to each other. A short animation would have been able to show that it was -incredibly- painful instead of whatever you want to believe is happening. They could have balanced it out by animating something on Misha’s path as well.

          I agree :)

I, a huge Ar Tonelico fan, have been waiting for this.

The time has finally come for the next ‘Ar Tonelico’.

  • Göran Isacson

Man I think the writer of this article should consider clearing up the grammar a bit, because this is kinda hard to parse. Like, “someone who has lost the ability to use song-magic appears”? Sooo how are they different from everyone else? “La Ciela is where the Genomes lived”, so who are the Genomes? It’s all kind of a word-salad at the moment… though maybe that’s just the result of a direct translation, and the original japanese text is just as messy.

At any rate holy heck yes a possible Ar Tonelico continuation. I am all in support of this.

    • aquagon

Genoms are special creatures that can resound (or sympathize) with some people through mental wave (H-Wave) frequencies to allow them to use song magic. The first question still has no answer at the moment.

      • キョン

From the genomirai site, this might be a clue to that question.
彼らは、この世界で数千年を生きてきているんだもの (That can’t be helped, they have been living in this world for the last thousands of years)
突然眠りから覚めた私達を見たら、驚くのも無理ないわ (It’s reasonable for them to be surprised to see us who woke up from (cold) sleep suddenly)

科学技術すら満足に持たない彼らからしてみれば、畏怖の対象にもなるよ/ (Also, we can use song-magic. Seen from them who haven’t reached such technology that’s a good reason to be on awe/fear.)

      • Kai2591

So Genoms are the new Reyvateils?

        • aquagon

More like Towers, as the Tower/SH Server in Ar tonelico was the one who actually made the magic, while the Reyvateils provided the feelings. That’s more or less the case here: a human bonded with Genom or that has a Ciel Notron provides the feelings the other will use to manifest the magic.

          • Kai2591

Oh so humans can use song magic now…

    • Kai2591

I get what you mean. But I think this is normally how Japanese games get described in their magazines haha.

  • kroufonz

    all hail gust!

wasn’t ar tonelico bamco IP how can they allowed to be connected story/world wise with ar no surge, when Surge Concerto is GUST own franchise and have nothing to do with bamco?.

    • aquagon

They take place in the same universe and thus, reuse several of the Sound Science concepts that were created in Ar tonelico. However, since they aren’t reusing Hymmnos, the world of Ar Ciel or any of the characters, there’s no problem.

      • Kai2591

        I love Sound Science.

What do they call the new ‘Hymmnos’ in Ciel no Surge?

        • aquagon

The two new languages are Emotional Song Pact (Keihansoukaishi in Japanese) and REON-4213.
Emotional Song Pact is used for interacting with the Genoms, while REON is used for casting Song Magic through devices called Ciel Notrons.

Breaking out into a deep sweat…THIS HAS TO COME HERE, IT JUST HAS TO…

      • Ladius

No reason to go “:(” on Tecmo Koei, they’ve been consistently localizing every Atelier game since they took over, and after the issues with Ayesha they’ve improved their efforts, too.

        • Anime10121

There’s only been one FULL Atelier game since Ayesha, and it hasnt even been released yet…
So we cant say how frequent or how good they’ll go about translating Gust titles in the future.

All others (including Ayesha) have been just taking NisA’s loclalization efforts and building off of them (i.e. adding the few lines that had been added to the + entries).

          • Kai2591

            I understand your worries, mate.
I just hope for the best outcome :)

          • landlock

At the moment TK seem like one of the most reliable publishers when being there games over to the US/EU. They do almost everything now.

          • Ladius

Your reasoning about the localizations being mostly NISA works retooled for the updated ports was correct before Atelier Escha & Logy was announced, but as of now they’ve shown they’re ready to tackle new entries in the series. Fact is, we have got more Atelier releases since TK took over than in the NISA period, regardless of their initial issues with marketing and the lack of dual audio.

Tecmo Koei is also localizing pretty much everything they’re releasing on Vita and PS3: not only the usual Warrior games, but also Toukiden and the new Deception game, all in both physical and digital versions.

          • Anime10121

…but that’s exactly my point. The only Atelier game that TK has been entirely responsible for is Escha and Logy, which has yet to see release, so we know nothing about the quality of their localization of the series as of yet. All previous releases have been either entirely NisA’s work, or used a major proportion of NisA’s work as their base.

You’re also a entirely wrong about TK having more Atelier releases than NisA, as NisA’s been doing them at least since the Ps2 days, with all three Atrlier Iris games, both Mana Khemia’s, the Arland series, under their belt (I won’t include Ayesha even though they are entirely responsible for its translation as well). TK has thus far released 3 games Totori +, Meruru +, and Ayesha all of which use NisA’s translations as their base. Escha and Logy will be the first Atelier game that TK will be completely responsible for.

You do bring up a good point though about TK localizing just about everything that they produce in Japan, so… There is that for hope. I’m just left wandering how successful Gust titles are to begin with.

          • Ladius

I never meant to say that TK has localized more Atelier games than NISA in the PS2-PS3 eras, I was just pointing out that since they took over we’ve been getting more Atelier releases than before and they still haven’t skipped a single entry.

With NISA we usually got one Atelier per year, and they skipped most handheld releases even when they were updated ports of previously localized entries like Mana Khemia 2 on PSP. With Tecmo Koei, on the other hand, we have had three localized Atelier games in less than one year, one more announced in 2014 and it’s extremely likely we will get Shin Atelier Rorona later, unless E&L is a dramatic flop. Sure, the Arland ports only required minimal localization efforts, but other publishers wouldn’t have done even that, especially considering Atelier games are niche even among niche jrpg series.

Also, as I said this isn’t only a Gust thing, since they’re doing the same with Toukiden and Deception 4, all the while improving their localization process and releases (honestly, in the hands of other publishers a game like Deception would have never got a physical release). I hope Chronos Materia will have a chance, too.

          • FetusZero

TK’s definitely been showing more effort.. or at least, TK Europe.

On the note about TK localizing everything.. I want Ciel no Surge before we get this lol. I know the chances are extremely slim due to the type of game it is.. but man do I still wish we’d get it, even more now that Ar no Surge is announced.

          • Ladius

Ciel no Surge was released before Gust was acquired by TK, and even then they didn’t plan to localize it because of its peculiar mix of online features, dlcs, and dating simvisual novel mechanics. Hopefully it shouldn’t be required to fully enjoy Ar no Surge.

          • FetusZero

True enough, but I can still dream :]

Either way I’ll still get Ar no Surge if it gets localized, and hopefully it will.

        • How have Tecmo Koei been doing on the Collectors Edition stuff? NISA always had fun collectors editions. Does Tecmo Koei do this too?

    • Learii

I wish NISA was still own Gust

      • aquagon

Better said, that Gust was never acquired by TK and they still had their publishing deals with NISA.

        • Kai2591

Well, let’s hope TK will improve and that Escha & Logy’s localisation will be satisfactory. Thank God they’ll provide Japanese audio. Good start, I guess.

        • Ladius

Again, I don’t see the issue considering TK is localizing pretty much everything from both Gust and their own portfolio, including niche games like Deception IV.

      • Ladius

NISA never owned Gust, they simply had a localization partnership going on since the first Iris game.

        • Learii

oh I tho they did XD because Gust games always been published by NISA so ya

  • aquagon

If I’m allowed to say something, I’m as happy for this announcement as everyone else. However, I should say that the planet is supposed to be called Ra Ciela (Emotional Song Pact form: ra-ciel-a) and the Genomes are actually called Genoms. Likewise, since the game already takes place in the Ar tonelico universe but in other planet (like Ciel Nosurge), it isn’t really correct to call it a combination of both it and Ciel Nosurge.

    That said:

    N waw ahih W a-to-rai EXA=PICO andi-din-n;
    QuelI-> {EXwI[viez]->{ciol ein iz};}->EXeC->{HW};

Would you mind linking some surge info sites? My Japanese has improved since the last time I tried to read some of those a year ago, though I still suck at searching.

      • aquagon

Almost all of the info can be found on, as that has links to a setting wiki, and guides for both the REON-4213 and Emotional Song Pact languages.

        • Kai2591

I have no idea what you’re talking about, but it goes to show that Ar Tonelico (and Ciel no Surge) has a lot more background stuff not known to the non-japanese fans…

    Personally, I propose Ar’s Surge. :P
That’s the only way you can make this right.

    • aquagon

That won’t work. The title is part Japanese, part the language of the game, so that would just be butchering them both.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

  • Cool. So does this mean that the series or perhaps this game has a chance at localization? One can only hope so.

    • Anime10121

      In TK we trust…

      • When you put it like that……….ugh. I guess we’ll have to though lol =P

  • FFmax

Please make it like 1 and 2, Ar tonelico 3 was just ugh.

  • Ar Tonelico 3 was massively disappointing. The diving seemed completely unconnected to the main plot or the character’s past, the main characters literally stop having any development 2/3rds into the game and the number of times you were made to pointlessly run up and down the executive district was insane.

Just seemed like they ran out of money with a game that only lasted 15 hours and were desperate to pad out the game without creating any new content.

    • aquagon

Can’t disagree more. The Diving was completely connected to the pasts of both Finnel and Tyria, while Saki’s had more to do with Sakia Lumei, and they all also had connection to the happenings of the main plot. And no, the main character didn’t stop having development around Phase 3, as Aoto still grew a bit during Phase 4, while all of Tyria’s development took palce during it.

      • bigboss09

I completely agree with you my first entry was Ar tonelico 3 and force to buy the other games on PS2
this series are complete masterpiece !

        • Kai2591

Glad you found this hidden gem ;)

      • We clearly didn’t play the same game. During the 10 or so hours you spent running up and down the executive district, once you’d met the conditions for the good endings, the two main girls pretty much didn’t even talk. You could go straight from that boss battle to their endings and you would literally miss nothing for them. It’s one of the things which makes fighting the same enemies endlessly and constantly backtracking up and down even more painful.

In AT2, events from the dives directly referenced their past and also tied into some of the later plot twists.

In AT3 there’s little sign that anything has changed with the main characters when you complete all their dives, you learnt almost nothing about their pasts (except in the forced one for a particular character which has a rather painful ‘make-one-mistake-and-you-start-again’ mechanic which finally made me drop the game right near the end) and completing them doesn’t add anything to the main plot. They’re heavily abstracted metaphors that provide little insight into the characters compared to 1&2 and seem to pretty much focus on fanservice and humour.

        • aquagon

Oh yeah, then everything that was unveiled in Finnel’s Lv. 7 Cosmosphere and onwards doesn’t exist, beginning with the flashbacks to her childhood with Akane, and the reason for her having a masochistic personality.

Likewise, the Dives also showed that both Saki and Finnel were planned to become hosts for the Antibody Brain in different ways and for different reasons, as well as the plans for doing so, so I don’t see how they don’t do any development for them or how they don’t connect with the main plot.

And don’t put the excuse that Diving into them doesn’t change anything: the Cosmospheres never have any impact in the real world, and this has been established and applied ever since Ar tonelico 1 was made.

Plus, how exaggerated: all these times going through the Executive District is something that doesn’t take beyond one hour in the entire duration of the game, unless you have a Shurelia-level sense of direction. Likewise, good doing with ignoring anything the girls said from Phase 4 onwards, beginning with the creation of the Song Magic to talk to Ar Ru and Ciela, the events with Akane at Clustania, or the scenes prior to departing to the Planetary Core.

  • Crazy_O

Not only am I happy that I get to play another Ar Tonelico, I can’t wait to listen to its music.

    • Kai2591

      Indeed :)

  • Aristides

    W00t! let’s hope for a localization ^^

  • aquagon

And a small example of what we can expect from this game’s music.

That’s the song from Chapter 7 of Ciel Nosurge.

    • Kai2591

Wish I could just download a sort of Japanese Language proficiency program into my brain….kinda like reyvateils with their hymmnos…then I could play Ciel no Surge immediately!

      • aquagon

Although that’s kinda problematic, as the knowledge would come unconsciously, but if anyone asked you “how do you say x in that language?”, you wouldn’t be able to answer. Basically, the knowledge comes only what you really need for something, but for other less important matters, it won’t come.

        • Xerain

This sounds a lot like my current experiences with Japanese!

        • Kai2591

          Haha…good point…forgot that’s how it works.

    • Arcana Wiz

I’m your fan aquagon! thanks for the hymnos translations! ^.^ (old lurker of artonelico.isisview)

      • aquagon

Thanks to you for the support. ^^

  • 紅蓮

Question: Do we need to have some knowledge in Ciel no Surge prior to playing this game? Because I skipped that game…

    • Kai2591

I second that question, but I don’t think anyone can answer that now since this game has yet to be released…

  • Kazkari

Totally looking forward to this, I’ll import it if they don’t localise. The battle system sounds just like AT2. I hope they have something like cosmosphere’s… Anyway regardless this has totally made my day. Thank You Gust<3

  • Spirit Macardi

Hmm… I’m really hoping this will take place some time before Ar Tonelico Qoga, since if it’s a retcon I’ll call BS.

Qoga really was the perfect ending to the series. It tied up everything and ended the story just about as permanently as possible. And if that was somehow undone just for the sake of a cash grab my heart would sink.

I’d like to think Gust has more class than that though, so I’ll remain cautiously optimistic for the time being.

    • Anime10121

…This isnt Ar Tonelico, just a new series that is VERY close, (since the original series is complete).

    • aquagon

As said before, same universe but different planet, so we won’t know anything about what happened to Ar Ciel unless Bandai-Namco allows them to make another Ar tonelico game.

And anyway, while it wasn’t retconned, the ending to the third game got an epilogue in the form of two light novels, showing that the Third and Second Towers were destroyed, but Tyria got to continue living the same way as her sisters Shurelia and Frelia: for as long as her SH Server is operational.

      • Kai2591

wait..the Third and Second Towers were destroyed?!
        why??! what happened?! another war?
Or they simply don’t need them anymore since, well, the planet is habitable now…?

Thanks for mentioning that Tyria’s fine. It worries me:) Guess they just moved her SH Server somewhere huh? but what about Frelia’s SH Server? (wait, I vaguely remember her server is actually on the First Tower or something…was it?)

Btw, what’s the novels about really? Is there a new crisis? or just a slice-of-life aftermath kind of story? and is there a fan-made localization of it? I must read!

        • aquagon

Basically, Tyria died due to the consumption of her Telomeres, and this caused the Third Tower to disappear. However, all the other characters contacted the Wills of the Planet and the Will of Metafalica, and grabbing a piece of Metafalica’s Heart of the Land, they created a song called EXEC_NEARZENVA/. to revive Tyria. However, for creating the incubator needed to revive her, Frelia had to sacrifice what remained of the Second Tower and the Rim, excepting for a very small part, in order to use the energy for that. As for the SH Servers of Tyria, they both are in the Tower of Origin, which floats independently of the Third Tower, so nothing happened to them. As for Frelia, her Server is on the First Tower, so no problems either.

As for the novels, they are this:

AT1: What happened between the final battle and before Phantasmagoria’s singing, covering a period of approximately three months. Introduces the character of Beta-6D.
AT2: A retelling of the night previous to the singing of Metafalica, both in Cloche and Luca’s time, and in Infel and Nenesha’s time.
          AT3: The epilogue mentioned above.

And I plan to translate them at some point, and in fact, I’ve already translated a short part of the AT1 one.

          • Kai2591

I see. Thanks for explaining :)

Huh, so there was actually a 3 month gap between final boss and phantasmogoria…it seemed almost immediate in the game haha.

Did the novels mention/imply which heroine that the male protagonists chose? Or did they avoid that subject?

And thanks for translating the novels too! Good luck finishing them :)
Btw how will we know once you’re done? Check mangaupdates? And where will you post them?

          • aquagon

They don’t really explain who they chose as their partners, so there’s no canon pairings.
As for when you’ll know, I’ll announce and post them on the ARM forums once I’m done with the translations. However, for now I have to finish up with the dungeon maps and bestiary of Ar tonelico 2 (the Perfect Guide) and Aurica’s Drama CD, which are my current projects.

          • Kai2591

            I see. That’s good.

At A Reyvateil’s Melody forums huh. Okay.

oh you’re doing the drama CDs too? Too awesome~
            Thanks again :)

  • Kazkari

Also is Miss Akiko doing the music? Does anyone know?

  • DesmaX

Oh, Ar tonelico was the only Gust game where I actually kinda enjoyed the battle system, so I’m happy to see something kinda like it on this one

    • Kai2591

Ar Tonelico is the only GUST game I can love; Atelier just isn’t my style…

  • Mir Teiwaz

For the love of the Goddess, please let this game come to America.

    • Slayven19

Since this is an rpg there is no reason it shouldn’t.

      • Mir Teiwaz

I never know these days. I’ve seen plenty of other awesome looking games from Japan that just aren’t going to come over for some reason or another.

        • Kai2591

The way I see it, nowadays ANY Japanese games has a chance to get localized. People thought games like Neptunia and Senran Kagura will never be localized – to our surprise ;)

          • Mir Teiwaz

Just trying to keep my hype levels in check until I see an official announcement >_<

AT is easily my favorite game series, for anyone that couldn't tell.

          • Kai2591

            I understand ;)

and don’t worry I could tell.
            high-five! :)

  • artemisthemp

I really wish Gust would consider making a HD Version of 2 first Ar Tonelico

    • Mir Teiwaz

That would easily be a day one purchase for me :>

  • Audie Bakerson

But will there be a superweapon powered by lesbianism?

    • aquagon

As if we could call Replekia that, to begin with…

      • Kai2591

I love their concept of an orbital cannon :)

  • Michael Connell

    Ball’s in your court, TK

  • Linhua

… okay, seeing that we never got Ciel no Surge…

… what are our chances here…?

    … anyone have any ideas…?

    • DesmaX

I believe that game required constant internet connection.
Kinda hard to do that in the US for a portable game.

And, even if it didn’t, it was a Dating Sim (Or something). Not the most popular genre in the west

      • Linhua

… I see your point… thanks for your response!

    • Jesse

Probably better, since this is an RPG, not…whatever Ciel Nosurge is( life simulator, I think?).

      • M’iau M’iaut

Life sim, tamagotchi, alarm clock — just not something that would have easily found a home even within the Ar Tonelico part of our niche. The cost of the tiny chapter add-ons can add up. (Edited with after info below. Seems I misunderstood a friend’s information regarding costs. I’d still say episodic downloads would be a hard sell for many anti-DLC folks.)

Nice to see the dev and music work is something we might just be able to experience here in some form.

        • aquagon

Not so much: if you begin with Re:incarnation, the chapters end costing around 15$ altogether. For the original version, that rises to around 35$.

      • Linhua

        … huh.

… I was always under the impression this game had some classy resemblance to the Tamagotchi.

… well this pleases me to hear either way.

        • M’iau M’iaut

Raise the cute doggy girl and her friends with some measure of control over what they do.

          • Linhua

            … so I was right then… XD

  • Learii

    ps4 game I guess?

    • aquagon

It’s for PS3. It says as much at the bottom of the article.

  • ivanchu77

About time we had another ar tonelico type of game, it feels that it has been a while after the third game :(

    They better localize this

    • Kai2591

a while indeed….unless you’ve been playing Ciel No Surge. Though that’s a communication game. Not that I’ve played it but damn I wish I could.

  • Kevin Schwarz

Please tell me there will be more humanoid weapon heroines? Multiple endings? Multiple pairing relationships and all the ar tonelico-ish stuff.

    • Kai2591

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

    Ohhh boy. Koei pls.T_T

  • Leon_Tekashi

I would be surprised if this gets localized. If it does, they better localize the Ciel no Surge so that we can understand things a bit more.

    • Kai2591

Damn straight on the localize Ciel no Surge part.
But I wouldn’t be surprised if Ar no Surge will get a localization.

    • Arcana Wiz

….. i dont think it’s unlikely, we dont know if it’s a sequel, or a retelling of the story, if it’s a game that dont need th eprevious knowledge, i cansee them localizing it.

      • aquagon

Considering none of the characters mentioned match at all with those that appeared in Ciel Nosurge, I don’t think it’ll be a retelling.

    • 4shiki

Yeah, they better do that! I want to know more about Ion~

  • Kai2591

    Enters Siliconera website.
    Immediately see Ion.
    Reads title.
My hype meter is over 9000.

“RPG directed by Akira Tsuchiya” – Yes! YES! He’s back!

“revolve around magic and the power of thoughts” – like ArT, wohooooo~

“the name Ar no Surge is indeed a combination of the two franchises” – theories running in my head!

“language spoken in the world will be the same as the one from Ciel no Surge” -original language like them hymmnos? AWESOME!

Delta Lantanoil sounds like Croix from ArT2; my favorite ArT protagonist. Elite military guy and all.

“His partner Acies is some sort of humanoid weapon” -Like Reyvateils? AWW YEAH!

“Sharl use song magic to kidnap the humans” -hey, aren’t Sharls those little fairy creatures in the cosmophere-ish place in CnS? They’re suddenly hostile now? huh…

“ancient song magic” -yes! more awesome music! >_<

"ancients who’ve awakened from cold-sleeps living together with the modern people" – the sci-fi aspects sound awesome~

"a heaven ruler princess who governs Felion" -GASP! Cloche equivalent?!

"Ar no Surge will be an orthodox RPG" -my favourite format :)

Battle system sounds similar to ArT 2's; also my favorite battle system in the series X). Qoga's battle system was a bit lacking.

"switching between Delta and Acies as you progress" -hmmm, does that mean only one heroine? not the usual three? not that I mind.

“Genometric System” -please be like ArT's Cosmophere Diving system!

and also a synthesis system – nice! they were pretty fun in ArT :)
which also reminds me of ArT 2's bath system; wish that makes a comeback :)

    • Mir Teiwaz

This is pretty much the reaction I had.

      • Kai2591

Longest comment I’ve ever written anywhere ;)

    • MrTyrant

We need someone like Mir/Jaqli my favourite girl from all the serie but I agree with everything you said.

      • Kai2591

        Indeed we do :)
It was hard for me not to choose her route in the second game cuz she was such an interesting character, and I was heavily curious what goes on in her hidden cosmosphere, but I had already made up my mind on Cloche-sama :)

  • Suriel Cruz

    *sigh* -sigh of relief-

    Can’t wait! ^ ^

  • FelixFelice

This is great, but Tecmo Koei owns Gust now. That means no special edition and possible shoddy translations that are far worse than anything NIS has messed up on. One Piece had so many errors. We probably will not even see dlc if this games gets any. I wish they would let NIS do Gust’s games.

  • Tenno Seremel

So, it appears I need instant knowledge chip on Ciel no surge now so I can play this %)

    • Kai2591

      It would appear that way.

(Mind giving me an extra if you have spares? Thanks)

      • Tenno Seremel

        Sure (^. ^)

  • darkbartz

More Ar Tonelico-like games is a okay with me! Battle system also seems to be based on the 2nd one, which is arguably the best out of the three. Will be in anticipation of this.

  • I thought I wasn´t going to get hyped for games after this year. But oh so wrong I was.

Lovely news. Now let´s hope there is a nice and spunky CE edition to drool over.

  • leingod

Hope there’s undressing girl magic in this game.

  • Croix Zapp

  • りんごタルト@エスカのアトリエ

    Not sure if want.

  • AkiraScare

this must get localized…. cant wait to get it…. if it gets localized… aournd 2016?!!! (0_0)

  • Presea

Please NISA I need this so bad

  • akiko_sakuraba

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, Awesome. I already purchased my 300 dollar Ar Tonelico music collection, Let’s do this~
And we kind of knew Ciel no Surge was connected to Ar Tonelico… Though it seems to be just ripping off people with DLC.

    • aquagon

Considering that each chapter isn’t exactly expensive, and each is a new story scenario including new graphics, models, voiceovers and music, I don’t think it’s a rip-off.

      • akiko_sakuraba

I think it’s a lot of DLC that could have been implemented into the game itself.

        • aquagon

Given its episodic nature and structure, the storyline chapters couldn’t be give that treatment since the game continued being developed and expanded after its release. It’s similar in that regard to other games that also have their chapters released separately.

  • smashbrolink

    Ar Tonelico isn’t entirely dead?!

    This is cause for CELEBRATION!

I can’t wait to see if this makes it to the states!

In the meantime, would anyone recommend Ciel no Surge? I haven’t played nor heard of it before, but I loved all of the Ar Tonelico series….

  • ShadowDivz

I hope we have a girl as damaged as Finnel was.
Seriously, it just made me love and want to protect her.

I am SO looking forward to this!!!

  • Zick

    more Akiko Shikata!!!! hell yeahh!!!
