By Spencer . October 20, 2013 . 11:39pm

jstarsvsNamco Bandai has J-Stars Victory Vs., a crossover fighting game with Goku and Boa Hancock, scheduled to come out on March 19. A PlayStation 3 copy is 7,980 yen ($80) and on Vita the game is a little cheaper, 6,980 yen ($70).

J-Stars Victory Vs. Anime Sound Edition is a special edition that includes 21 anime theme songs as background music for the game. This version is a little more pricey too, 10,980 yen ($110) on PS3 and 9,980 yen ($100) on Vita.

    Cha-La Head-Cha-La!! (8)

If I were to get the game, I’m sure of which version I would get at least.

    • Rayshawn Davis

It’s all about that Smile Bomb for me personally :)

      • Rafael Martines

        ARIGATOOOOOO GOZAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMAZ!!!!

    • GH56734

IF (and that’s a big IF) something comes out of that “Awakened-Legends-Vs” European trademark, it’s likely to be the version without the team songs that’s released here. Like with the similar high-risk localization Project X Zone, which had its vocal intro replaced.
In fact, I think that’s the reason for there being two Japanese versions in the first place.

  • hazelnut1112

I hope we are getting more character announcements soon, especially with Jump Festa around the corner.

  • https://twitter.com/Panda_castro Panda

I wonder which ones there going to pick. I would love it if Yu Yu hakusho and
    Rurouni Kenshin’s OP gets pick.

    • fairysun

The real question is which one of Rurouni Kenshin’s?
So many good OST in that anime.

  • Dakota

    That just sounds unnecessarily expensive.

    • Jahred Down

      “Sounds” I GET IT!

  • Go2hell66

sigh…. really we got to pay extra for anime themes!?

    • Rayshawn Davis

Well buying the rights to use those themes (Or any copyrighted expensive theme) does cost a pretty penny. So seeing the price of this limited edition being more expensive is rather common sense. It’s reasonable to assume that this should be priced much more than it is now.

But anyway, I’ll be getting this edition, gotta support the developers and Namco for at least trying this hard in making a wonderful game that celebrates Jumps History and Anniversary.

  • Bobby Jennings

Nice! I will be getting the limited edition then.

  • Just Tim

Now this is how you personalize BGMs in licensed games. :3

  • Thrasher429

I would hope that there is more in that special edition than the theme songs because an increase of $30 is quite a lot just for some BGM

  • Shippoyasha

Man, music and voice rights are expensive stuff. While the price increase makes sense, it doesn’t mean I agree with it.

Japanese companies that own rights to music and voice work are really playing hardball nowadays.

  • epndkempot

Does the Anime Sound Edition include the real seiyuu too?

    • British_Otaku

That will be announced at a later date, in the fine print it was confirmed that there is an edition which also goes for around 5000 yen (Vita) and 6000 yen (PS3), both had the names of characters and series spelt incorrectly in a Pro Evolution/Winning Eleven fashion in screenshots.

This may be where the replacement seiyuu lurk. >_>

  • cyberkinghardy

Just download anime music, then listen to it while playing the game. It’s the same right?

    • Miss_Madness

If you don’t want to download anime music just make a playlist of it on from youtube and listen to that.

      • https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChAgYzpMfD0X9n_9uj6Zghw Jeremy

better off to download it, you get more quota for your buck that way.

  • Phill XVII

The same BS as with Kamen Rider Battride War. *sigh*

    • British_Otaku

And Gundam Extreme VS Full Boost… >_>
I hope NB get burnt and see people downloading music en masse in the future or even buying CDs and using a bit of equipment plus messing with settings to get the music which should be in.

It’s incredibly insulting given that the original Extreme VS not too long was initially cool giving us a fine library of music.

      • Lynx

        Actually, no.

Both of those had Custom Soundtrack features. From the looks of it, this doesn’t.

        • British_Otaku

It’s sorta assumed that games will have custom soundtrack features at least through the native PS3/360/Vita support (I know all three aren’t on the 360) till it is confirmed otherwise.

It isn’t challenging to wire up your console and speakers, plus lower the BGM volume otherwise. >_>
Effectively, it could be done with any system.

      • 永次

You are totally wrong, Gundam Extreme VS. Full Boost will have 55 songs in the normal version and 90 in the Special Edition.

        • British_Otaku

Looking back, that is true about adding 30 or so tracks not removing the previous licensed songs (half of the 50 or so are original). While I stand corrected, I still believe that holding back tracks in this fashion for money is BS. >_>

  • fairysun

This is probably going to be cut again IF the game is ever released in US

    • TheGameTagerZ

The ONLY way this game will make it here is if they cut the roster.

This is harder to bring than TVC and Project X Zone. Dealing with more companies and crap.

  • XiaomuArisu

    Well….that sounds mean…

  • greeeed

I guess that way when game come to USA = they can keep anime music for extra price instead of removing all anime ost
(looking at Gundam warrior USA/EU version)

    • http://s1.zetaboards.com/Espada_of_Alexandria/index/ konpon568

Or… as for the Anime songs, DLC.

  • http://s1.zetaboards.com/Espada_of_Alexandria/index/ konpon568

The big question is… which songs will be picked?

  • Kango234

    $110!

So much for being my first import.

    • TheExile285

      Standard PS3 version is $80

  • katamari damacy

Oh those pesky licensing fees! At least they give you the option of generic public domain music vs actual themes.

  • zferolie

hmmmmmm do I bite the bullet and buy this… or hope for a release here…

  • SageShinigami

So 21 themes…is that an indication of how many different series are being included? How many would that be so far? 15? So characters from 6 series left, potentially? More if they decide to use more characters that they don’t include themes for, or less if they use multiple themes from the same anime series.

  • TheExile285

Hmmm, if the LE is just more songs, I may just import the standard Vita version. Would be easier on my wallet….

  • Yan Zhao

over 30 extra dollars just for 21 songs that should’ve been in the game to begin with.

    Sound legit.

  • Erwin MadJelly

DAT Shot right to your wallet… $70 for normal and $100 for Anime Special… Plus shipping = Wallet Dead…
