Final Fantasy XIV Will Add Housing In December. Here’s What It Does.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will introduce housing in patch 2.1, which is planned for release this December, and for those that aren’t familiar with the concept, Square Enix have provided an overview of the housing feature in a recent update to the game’s website.

Housing is the ability for a Free Company (guild) to purchase a plot of land and then build a house over it for its members to share and use as a base of operations. Land in Final Fantasy XIV is sold through auctions. Once you’ve purchased a plot of land, you can then purchase a house permit to build your house.

Houses consist of four parts in the game—the roof, the exterior wall, windows and door. You can decorate a number of these with optional parts. More importantly, you’ll also be able to decorate the interior of your house. Each house’s wallpaper, flooring and lighting can be changed, and you can also place furniture as per your liking. Furniture includes everything from tables and lamps to carpets and plants.

In the future, Square Enix plan to make a number of further improvements to the housing system in the game. Future updates will allow one to build a crafting workshop where players can build vehicles such as airships or a Chocobo stable to raise chocobos. You can read about the housing system in more detail here.

Patch 2.1 for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is scheduled for release on December 17th.

    Best MMO ever!!

Looks good, but I’m FCless at the moment and I’m not planning on joining one for awhile.

Just remember that when you’re with your FC fam inside your house enjoying a hot drink during the icy cold winter, I’ll be outside shaking my fist and awaiting 2.2.. the B and E patch. No one will be safe. In Adamantoise, I mean.

Still no word on pricing, how annoying. Our FC has 1.6 mil saved, hoping it doesn’t even come close to that cost.

My guild saved like, 2+ million though. I saw another around that, too. Best to be safe, but it’s not like the members can’t donate anymore if it’s not enough. xD

True, but as Guild Master, I have learned that I had to twist a few arms to get that much of a contribution so far, lol!

Americans can expect to pay key money, agency fee, guarantor fee, cleaning fee, and a lock exchange fee.

Not a fan of FFXIV when i play the beta , but the features really caught me, Should i try to play this game again?

Yes you should. Try to beat the main storyline in a month, it is a great story. Some of the instance battles and raids can be frustrating sometimes but it makes it much more satisfying when you win. Many well equipped experienced players do the raids at the end of the storyline which makes the last battles a piece of cake. The most difficult part of the game for me was the Garuda story mode fight. I found out that the duty finder finds a party faster when you play as a healer, so I played as a Scholar instead of a Summoner in instances after level 30.

Ugh It’s only for guilds? :(
    That’s gonna cost a pretty penny :p

yep and i’m not friendly towards guilds lol

I wonder if those houses will be in in their own instanced maps or as part of the, err, overall map?
