Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Revolution Coming In 2014

By Ishaan . November 27, 2013 . 6:10am

Did you think the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja series was done? Hardly. This week’s Jump magazine in Japan reveals Naruto Shippudden: Ultimate Ninja Revolution, slated for release in 2014.

Like it’s more recent predecessors, the game is in development for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It will feature 100 playable characters including brand new characters drawn by series creator Masashi Kishimoto. More news is expected at the 2014 Jump Festa event in December.

Ultimate Ninja Revolution’s release comes just a few weeks after Namco Bandai released Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst.

    I wish it was done…

  • Dragard Kaos

100 characters as in unique? Or are forms included?

    • British_Otaku

It is an anime game, forms tend to be treated as characters by fanbase and developer PR alike. Given that Storm’s mechanics are rather simple and perhaps even “broken” next to previous Storms (well I miss having more combos at least), Ultimate Ninja (PS2/PSP), Clash of Ninja/Gekitou Ninja Taisen and fighting games at large not just licensed ones, you won’t feel like there are a lot of characters.

      • Dragard Kaos

        Well that’s lame.

    • Bobby Jennings

They don’t count forms, but they do count the many versions of a character throughout their time in the anime. For example: the 5 versions of Sasuke.

      • Dragard Kaos

Welp, that’s lame, too. I’d understand if Sasuke and post-time skip Sasuke were two different characters, but counting 5 versions of him as different characters? Meh.

        • Bobby Jennings

Well to be fair, none of them have the same movesets except for Taka and CS2.

          • Dragard Kaos

Yeah, I figured as much. Still, calling them different “characters” can give people expectations.

          • Bobby Jennings

In this time and age it shouldn’t. DBZ does the same exact thing and so did the CoN games.

          • Dragard Kaos

When it was revealed that Battle of Z was going to have 70 “characters,” I was excited, as that was actually possible. It’s just 38 characters with different forms. Eh, whatever. Anime arena fighters aren’t my thing anyways. I’d love it if they made a new Budokai game though.

          • Bobby Jennings

Yeah, with battle of Z they count transformations since characters can’t transform. It’s pretty terrible. But with Naruto it’s different I respect that though. I love anime fighters because most of the time they’re simple and fun. Can’t help myself.

        • Bobby Jennings

I agree. I don’t want them to take out these versions of sasukes though. Like DBZ, there’s always one someone likes. I don’t use EMS Sasuke but I love Road-To-Ninja Sasuke. Different combos, plus hes much sexier.

  • chibiwall

still no naruto games on psv ç_ç

    • TheExile285

Same but I’m not confident Vita could handle one of these games well. Maybe Namco will make a Vita exclusive Storm game down the line.

      • Sergio Briceño

I’m pretty sure it can. There is not any depth to the fighting in this game, it could be “tap the screen to auto-attack”, “swipe it to combo finish” and “activate justu with a tap on the back” or something like that.

Unless you meant specs wise, but so far the Naruto games have seen their graphics translate well to portable devices, so who knows.

        • TheExile285

I was talking purely spec. There are too many animations and effects that go on in the Storm games for Vita to handle a console port IMO and we don’t know if Namco has added even more with this new one.

          • subsamuel01

If the Vita could handle Uncharted I’m sure it could handle a storm game. Even dragonball z is coming to the vita.

          • Sergio Briceño

Yeah you are right, as you said, maybe if they make a specific NSUNS for Vita.

          • TheExile285

If they did, I’d think they would probably tone down the graphics a tiny bit and remove the tag features which I’d be ok with.

        • jordanbobordan

You do realize the competative side of the community in these games basically requires you to master each character’s block cancels, animation interrupts, and frame cancels right?

          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuaP3Oz4lYU

          • Sergio Briceño

First off, it wasn’t my intention to say it “wasn’t” competitive. I was just saying that if TheExile285 meant he couldn’t see the game being ported to Vita because of it’s fighting mechanics, then I didn’t see that as an issue. More competitive games have been ported and used touch controls, UMVC3 comes to mind. I did mention there was no depth to it, though.

But since you wanted to go there… No, it’s not a deep game by any stretch. Any game can be competitive, even that user generated air hockey minigame on LBP2, but it doesn’t make it deep.

I didn’t consider myself a pro nuns player as I don’t particularly enjoy online matches (call me arcadey oldschool) and I’ve spent more time with the single player than with local multiplayer, so I decided to watch the video you posted to see if there was any truth to what you said.

            1) My personal favorite. But it’s just basic juggling and something you learn early in the game.
2,3,4) Knew about these already They are all easy to pull off but cheap. Support is cheap for the most part in these games, but I like throwing them in to take an ougi from time to time, it’s so funny.
            5) Not even a mind game. If you were planning to use the ougi anyway then it doesn’t matter where you are facing, your character will turn around to target the substituting opponent.

Guess I was a pro player after all. You know what would bring a little depth back to the game? Replace the sub bar with chakra based sub of the earlier games. Resourse management and timing were key in the first couple of games, now it’s just a game of “Yes! I got enough chakra for my ougi and more sub bars than you do! Oh you are so screwed!”

        • Loli Summoner

You shouldn’t talk about things you don’t know well.Like jordanbobordan said,There is a big competitive player community.I am a very competitive player in NS3/all naruto games. You have to use the right allies, which ever works better for your playstyle/character and learn your characters cancels and whatnot.

          • Sergio Briceño

            Oh trust me, I know.

      • Otoya

Well, we will see, hope for it. :)

    • Otoya

How I hope so there is one too. My Vita is craving for it.

    • Chee Yang

If they go back to the Narutimate Hero series, with two 2d characters fighting on 2 different planes of the field, I would definitely get the game and a Vita.

  • Tenshiken

    Tin Man Yamato?

  • http://darkesword.com/ DarkeSword

This is probably going to be an intermediate-style game like Generations was, to tide us over until NUNS4.

EDIT: ACTUALLY i take that back. looks like it features imagery from the latest story developments in the manga (Naruto and Sasuke teaming up, etc.).

  • TheExile285

    Yay for another Storm game!

  • DesmaX

    Why not PS4/Xone?

There’s enough Naruto games on the current gen

    • Ninastars

This way they don’t have to redo all the character assets yet. They can have more characters in and focus on things like the story mode.

    • LightZero

Why not just keep your PS3…

The fact is the PS4 and the other system aren’t worth owning right now. This has always been the case for every launch system I experience since I can remember. It’s usually best to wait until 3-5 at the earliest to get a new system. By then the games library would have picked up.

      • DesmaX

To be fair, I have no interest in these games.

But, I would assume that these yearly franchises would jump to next-gen as soon as possible, just so that gamers can have games of their known franchises to play on their new platforms. And that help pushing the console forward too

And I honestly start getting tired if games from a certain franchise keep coming on the same platform

      • Pinwheel

So, just to clarify, they shouldn’t put the game on those two consoles because there’s no games for it?

      • ShadowDivz

Dude, when a new model comes out everyone gets rid of the old one. Everyone knows that! They just magically stop working.

        =D

  • Bobby Jennings

“Ultimate Ninja Revolution’s release comes just a few months after Namco Bandai released Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst.”

You mean reveal right? Not release?

    • http://people.ign.com/rob1610 rob1610

And now it reads “weeks” instead of “months”. Wtf? So it’s out already? O_o

      • Mastercow

UNS3 Full Burst has been out for almost a month now.

        • http://people.ign.com/rob1610 rob1610

I know. I was talking about the new game, not Full Burst.

  • Suriel Cruz

I’M DONE… I CAN’T… I JUST CAN’T. *sigh* 2014 BEST YEAR FOR THE PS3 IN GENERAL, I SWEAR. JRPG/RPGs, Fighting Games, Action Games, Espionage Games, IT WILL BE THE BEST YEAR FOR THE PS3, period.

    • British_Otaku

Every year brings Naruto games plus JRPG/RPGs, Fighting Games, Action Games, Espionage Games, though. >_>

      • Suriel Cruz

SO??!!! I just reserve the names of games that will come out in 2014, just so people like you put things like that. BEING ANNOYING is something usual in this kind of sites. *sigh*

        • British_Otaku

You didn’t name any games which were releasing next year though. >_>

If you did, I would had nodded and said “Yeah, Metal Gear looks awesome! BlazBlue (2013 for Japan or not) and Guilty Gear are great! Perhaps this is the most excited I’ve been for the PS3!”

Every year or so brings us CC2 with another okay Storm game (prefer the competitive Clash of Ninja games and CC2 keep making odd decisions with Storm even if I liked them a lot) and a lot of other genres.

      • ShadowDivz

He’s hyped. Let him enjoy the moment.

  • Rohan Kishibe

Is that a Naruto Action Figure that transforms into the Kyubi???

  • Herok♞

Depending on how they handle it I may or may not get it

  • ZEROthefirst

Still waiting for a new Clash of Ninja/Gekitou Ninja Taisen game. In my opinion the better of the 2.

  • Tiduas

Thanks for the filler characters Kishimoto-san! … …

  • John Diamond

Please don’t screw up the muliplayer like you did last time cyber connect ;(

  • http://www.isfuturebright.com/ Silvio Carréra

Really? It’s sad to see Naruto becoming the next Dragon Ball…

  • MVRK HNTR

I love the animation in these games but I still wish that we could get a Naruto game with a single player adventure mode like those in Ubisoft’s Rise of a Ninja and The Broken Bond.

  • Go2hell66

can never have too much naruto

  • David García Abril

    If it’s like a UNS4… YAY!

    If it’s like a Generations… NAY!

If it’s the former, it may actually tie in with the ending of the manga (FINALLY!)

    • British_Otaku

If the manga actually ends before the game releases of course, it isn’t like the numbered lineup of Ultimate Ninja Storm games had a strong grasp of the story anyway.

  • nyobzoo

eh, I’m done with the series on PS3/360

  • d19xx

I guess I’m the only one who wants a sequel to Ultimate Ninja Impact. :(

    • John Ross

No, I do! I’m hope to god that add some similar gameplay like Dragon Ball Z: Battle, and J-Star Victory Vs. This is what I’m really hoping for, a new Naruto game that lets you play story mode online with other people or a Naruto Brawl. PLEASE NAMCO BANDAI!

    • TheExile285

Nope, the game was pretty good. A sequel with better animations/graphics and more characters would be great.

    • Rayhan PromisedGallery

4th Ninja World War would make good setting for that game.

UNM just feel repetitive because they always FORCED to put hundred of enemies in each fight.

That game has the best Pain fight though

    • Hinataharem

      I loved that game!

  • Christian Wright

this game couldve waited :/ every time a new storm game comes out, i think cc2 have reached their limitations as far as putting content on a disc. but 100 playable characters? *sigh*

  • karasuKumo

I’m expecting that this will have a self-contained story centered around the characters drawn by Kishimoto ending with the war being re-introduced. I’m not too sure how to feel about that. CC2 have the ability to make a great filler story (look at Ultimate Ninja 4) but I don’t like that they’re tempering with the war.

  • Anko Is Furious (King T.G.P)

I’ve been saying this ever since they kept making her support only.. Twice but… I really hope Anko is playable again in this series x.x. That’s all I care about lol.

  • Rafael Martines

Naruto is becoming the new Dragon Ball for Namco XD but seriously I hope they put Edo Kages and make some updates in the movesets mainly Hashirama, enough with that Taijutsu and Mokuton: Jukai Koutan, give some Sage Mode and Mokujin no Jutsu humph

    • Anko Is Furious (King T.G.P)

They should also try balancing the characters for once lol.. Even if its by the slightest since some characters like Tsunade are basically useless against someone like EMS Sasuke. Not trying to say it isn’t possible to win but its an unfair advantage >.<.

  • Nitraion

    This seriously become old…
they fun at first until Strom 2 and so on…..

  • Rayhan PromisedGallery

new character : a robotic Jinchuriki with transformation being Flame-y Kurama

    • Loli Summoner

How bout a fan wish? a female uchiha.

      • Rayhan PromisedGallery

Female Uchiha (a sharingan user) actually appear on FILLER

  • junir

Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 was the best of the series. All the other games were terrible.
Lmao got down-voted for telling the truth.

    • Loli Summoner

Story mode wise? Because you realize NS2 was the cheapest one for online battles right?Sub-Ult jutsu-repeat or Pick itachi…you know why…susanoo.NS2 had a good story tho but so did NS3….

      • junir

Of course for story-mode. The online is such rubbish that it isn’t even worth mentioning.

  • Azure Flame

Bring back the classic ultimate ninja fighting style. No open field battles, support characters, just traditional one on one battles. No running away the entire match playing turtle. Add a new combo system. It is so boring pressing one damn button. It is much more rewarding to pull off a combo you’ve practiced for hours rather than mash one button. So lame. CC2 has to go back to their roots and make a traditional one on one fighting game that got them this far.

    • Tonton Ramos

yes and put it on PS4 and Xbox One if they intend go back to their roots.

      • British_Otaku

Don’t you mean the PS2? The classic Ultimate Ninja series was exclusive to that and the PSP on the side. >_>

There isn’t going to be a PS4/XOne Naruto game for a while if the Wii U barely picks up scraps for licensed games and the other systems (including the 3DS and the Vita TV) have more presence in vital markets.

  • https://twitter.com/#!/Shadows_Desire Shadows_Desire

Still wating for a new Clash of Ninja game…

    • British_Otaku

Same, I want Namco Bandai to call up Eighting so they can continue where they left off.

    • Slayven19

Yep, I was kinda hoping that’s what this was going to be when I saw a naruto announcement.

  • KyoyaHibari

Knew this would happen lol. Think I might reconsider this. Brand new characters and 100+ characters total is rather convincing, and seeing how the series is finally nearing an end, it may get mostly everyone theyneed unless they go into Budokai Tenkaichi territory and get every minor character possible. Still holding reservations if they continue to have it unbalanced as hell though.

  • mike dickson

im not surprise by this at all but 100 + characters thats pushing it to its limit

  • Lloyd Christmas

Is the CC2 going to remove more combos without updating any of the same old tired combo animations for returning characters?

    • http://blackstar2661.deviantart.com/ SilverSpades

Probably not. Storm 3 was pretty disappointing with that.

      And… I missed Lars ;_____;

  • bushin

When they say 100+ characters I hope they don’t mean like in DBZ Games where standard Goku and super saiyan Goku are two different characters. I’m finding it hard to believe it’ll be different if I’m honest. Even with new characters being brought into the mix. But I’m excited anyway!

    • OhMyClarence

This has been their strategy from the beginning. So I’m not optimistic. They lauded the claim of 80+ characters for Ultimate Ninja 3, but it might have been less than 60 unique characters, once you factor in the multiple versions of Naruto (I think there were 5) and Sasuke (maybe 3-4).

A roster of 60 isn’t bad, but the issue has always been what characters they choose to leave out. DBZ is actually in this department probably better in terms of a character roster in terms of relevant unique characters.

Still, subtracting the 2 unique characters, assuming if they keep the same amount of carbon copies with just different special movies, we can expect maybe 18 new characters. And there are way more than 18 very plausible characters to fit in. The sad thing is by this point in the story there are probably previous characters that should have been brought in that won’t be relevant now. Though relevancy didn’t stop them from bringing the characters from non-Shippuden Naruto.

  • ShadowDivz

Naruto & Sasuke holding a rasengan with electricity?

Preorders reach 500k within the first 5 minutes.

  • Rayshawn Davis

Should probably update the page a bit with the official translations:

    Naruto Ultimate Storm Revolution

“I will become the Hokage that exceeds the previous generations of Hokage”
Surprise announce of the very last Naruto Storm game.
The game will undergo drastic changes and the number of characters and ougis will increase !

What are the big changes ?

First of all, over 100 playable characters
    Second big change, combination ougis

Third change, new characters drawn by Kishimoto himself. A human model and a beast one.

The game will be playable at the Jump Festa.

    Credit to harurisu!

There you have it folks! This will officially be the last Storm Game! Time to move on to next-gen.(Or er, technically current gen now lol)

  • KrazyBean

Eh…I’m down for it. Naruto has been getting the better games compared to DBZ lately.

3 was pretty damn good, especially those boss battles…wow.

  • GameWinner

It should have been called Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution just because long name.

  • Andrew A

So is this going to be like the Narutimate Hero series? That was the series called “Ultimate Ninja” over in NA, right?

    • Bobby Jennings

      This is the Narutimate series.

      • Andrew A

        Oh nice!

  • SuBw00FeR

And here I am still waiting for another Bleach game. :(

  • http://youtube.com/RyeANDRinGaming B-Dazzle

But we already had the Revolution games for Wii & Gamecube. Let’s hope it’s going to be a reboot made by Takara Tomy and company. Because if not, then I might have to pass on purchasing another Naruto game. Cause the Clash Of Ninja/Revolution games were by far the best, fun and entertaining and could actually be played competitively for hours. Never could get anybody into The Storm series made by Namco Bandai. Ugh scratch what I just said, looks like it’s ANOTHER Storm game, I thought since it had revolution in the title it would be a reboot to the clash of ninja/revolution games. :/

    • TheGameTagerZ

GNT4 was the best period. Their shippuden series was the death of them.

  • Chee Yang

As much as I appreciate CC2′s efforts on Naruto, I wish Dimps would get a chance to work on the franchise.

Staff from Dimps basically created all these games: Street Fighter II, Street Fighter EX, Street Fighter 4, DBZ Budokai, Super DBZ, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters…

It’s about time we need a solid Naruto fighting game that has a deep learning curve.

  • Loli Summoner

FJFUWUAIVF!!!!!!!! nerdgasm/otakugasm YES!! I can’t wait for more news for this game :D 100 characters? GTFO! pulling that dbz tenkaichi BS.Who they gonna add?wait…why am I complaining bout this? AHHH!!! i’m sooo excited!!

  • Syn

been hoping they go back to the multiple Ougi(multiple jutsu’s) fo the Ps2 era, with some cinematic team moves……Buuuuuuuut I know that wont happen so let me not disappoint myself….Hope we get more combos though, hate how the re,moved many of the characters left/right combos, need more variety.

    • Syn

wall running, ninja tools that cos a bigger effect in the fight, basically everything they already did on the weaker ps2 system but simply balanced out an better.

  • Musashi234

In other words its going to be a Copy and Paste of Characters….

  • 栗場 江理久

    Can I have Kurenai, Anko, Shizune, Konohamaru, Sound Four(Five), the other sound ninja from the chunin exams, the rain ninja and the support only characters, that for SO FREAKING LONG, have remained support only for whatever reason? I’m BEGGING YOU PEOPLE ;n;

  • Vash bane

I heard this will be the final game…maybe on ps3 and 360?
