Borderlands 2 Free On PlayStation Plus In December

By Ishaan . December 2, 2013 . 10:59am

Five more games will be available for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers in North America this month, and this morning, Sony revealed which these would be. The list is at follows:

GRID 2 (PS3)

Borderlands 2 (PS3)

Dyad (PS3)

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (PS Vita)

Urban Trial Freestyle (PS Vita)

  • Pdugna

Also announced today is the Sale of Ni no Kuni for $9.79 on PSN along with sales on Digital versions of FF14 normal and Collectors

    • Brion Valkerion

Really? cool, did not like Ni no Kuni’s combat but for $10 theres no reason to not buy it I guess.

    • X_Bacon

Whoa, now I have no excuses for not having the game yet. Thanks for the tip.

    • Whoa! When does that start?? I will go see if I can find it.

  • Brimfyre

Spank my ass and call me Francis. PS Plus might be one of the best investment I’ve ever made.

That and my collection of tiny pewter Scotty dogs.

    • Lucky Dan

I’ll give you a warning, the games you get free in question are only playable on their respective consoles, so don’t go rushing out buying a PS4 expecting all of these games to be played on the PS4.

PS4 games on PS4, PS3 games on PS3 and PS vita games on PS vita.

  • JonathanisPrimus

That’s a nice way to get people to buy the Borderlands 2 Vita port, and by nice way I mean a way to ensure only 6 people buy it.

    • Charles Parker

You forget the likely scenario where the Vita port will come with all of the DLC like when they put the Disgaea games on the vita. That’s not the game of the year edition or anything. It’s just the standard game.

      • JonathanisPrimus

I kind of doubt it’ll even include the DLC. The developer is going to have a hard enough time fitting the full game onto a 4GB Vita game card forget the DLC.

        • The Watcher

You don’t know that for a fact tho.

          • JonathanisPrimus

That’s true. What I do know is that the base game itself is over 5GB on PS3, and 360.

        • Red Veron

Though it does run on a lower resolution and if something like Uncharted and Killzone (which were ported PS3 engines) can cram all that pretty in a 4 GB card, we might see some of the content.

          • JonathanisPrimus

Killzone didn’t fit on a 4GB card. The reason there’s 1GB+ patches is because they couldn’t fit the multiplayer. Conversely, notice how Uncharted: Golden Abyss lacks multiplayer?

          • Red Veron

They are shrinking that 1gb patch to a around 300mb. Optimization perhaps? Uncharted didn’t have multiplayer since it wasn’t Naughty Dog that made it and online play was never planned for it since they had problems even running the game with wifi/3g on for battery issues. I did say we “might” see the content on the Vita version since a lot of the later DLC was baked into the main game (Paige, etc).

          • JonathanisPrimus

Naughty Dog didn’t make Uncharted: Golden Abyss. SCE Bend Studio did, and their previous four games all shipped with online multiplayer modes. In fact, they’ve made multiple multiplayer focused games.

Damn, I just got the Black Friday PS3 Bundle and a year of PS+ but I wasn’t able to redeem it in time due to the system failure to get the November games. Borderlands 2 is cool, but I really wanted Shadow of the Collosus HD, Dragon’s Dogma, Uncharted 3, and XCOM from last month :(

    • Brion Valkerion

Might have some time left, usually does not update til Tuesday night. That is if it is updating the first week in general, new PSN+ sub too so not sure.

    • Lord Búho

I was able to redeem the code on saturday, also, the game leaving tomorrow is bit.trip.

UC3 and XCOM are yearly games, they won’t go anywhere till June 2014.

      • Pheria

Kind of new to PS+. They rotate them weekly?

        • XiaomuArisu

          Weekly would be overkill XD

          • Pheria

Right, I’m a little confused though. Why is bit.trip the (singular) game leaving tomorrow rather than all of them from November?

And why was Soul Sacrifice, a November game, added near the end of the month?

Do they announce the games for the month and then every week trickle them in? That might have been a better way to word my question.

          • DemonShadowX

Yes, they announce the whole month about a week or two before the month starts, then they trickle them in weekly. They probably do that to give people time to get the previous month’s games.

        • Lord Búho

Yes, weekly, one each tuesday, it usually goes like this:

1st tuesday of the month: Big PS3 game of the month
2nd tuesday of the month: PS3 game
3rd tuesday of the month: Small downloadable PS3 game and a PSV game.
4th tuesday of the month: Big PSV game of the month.

          • Pheria

            Thank you! :)

        • And each time a new one comes, the oldest (I think?) gets bumped off. Plenty of time to grab stuff tho.

    • X_Bacon

I couldn’t redeem mine through the Vita or the PSN site, but it worked just fine on the PS3, funnily enough.

    • Were those all last month? Man, last month was awesome!

    • All those games are still on there that you listed. I just checked! Are you able to redeem yet? I was able to do mine through my PS3 in the account settings (rather than going into the store).

      • mojack411

Oh look at that. Doing it through account settings worked for me as well. Thanks!

        • Yay! You’re welcome! Glad you didn’t miss out, cause there are a ton of good free games on there.

  • mockturtle

Pretty weak compared to last month, IMO.

    • Yeah, other than Borderlands 2, it does seem a bit weak.

  • Shady Shariest

Go.Go.Go.What are you doing reading this page? There’s Borderlands 2 you people with Ps+ could be playing! :3

    • Lord Búho

Yeah, next week at the earliest.

      • Shady Shariest

Oh, me and not reading the article :3

  • DemonShadowX

Ni No Kuni will be $9.79 on PSN for Plus members, I’d snatch that if I didn’t already own it.

Also on sale will be FFXIV, $10 for Standard or $15 for Collector’s Edition…. Definitely snatching up on of these two.

    • Lynx

      Thank you for that.
Been wanting it for a while but haven’t been able to find any places that have it nearby.

  • TheExile285

Just Borderlands 2 and Sonic Racing for me.

  • Byron Kerrison II

Kinda mad that I bought Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing Transformed…
    …Atleast I get Borderlands 2 to compensate!

  • DanielGearSolid

Never tried borderlands, hate FPS’s… Buut… I have this motto… “if its free, it’s mine”

    • Red Veron

It’s not really a straight up FPS, more like a loot hunting Diablo-esque in First Person with special abilities and guns. Also fun with friends.

    • Tatsuya1221

I outright hate FPS’s, but i love borderlands 2, take that for what it’s worth.

It’s story is also rather comedic and enjoyable.
