Natural Doctrine Introduces Its Characters

By Spencer . December 30, 2013 . 1:25am

Natural Doctrine from Kadokawa Games is an upcoming strategy RPG that uses the 3D map in an interesting way. Jeff, a male warrior, is the protagonist in the game. He’s accompanied by Vasilisa, a female warrior, and Anca, a command medic.

The game’s release date was bumped back from the PlayStation 4 launch to March 19, 2014. Natural Doctrine will also be available for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

    • fyi1191

      And in Japanese; Jye-Fuu!!!

      • Richard N

        • Koromaru-chan-san-sama-kun… yeah…
just google ‘girl chan in paradise’ because any explanation i give will NOT make any sense till u see that :O

  • Afternoon Intergalactic

The game definitely looks interesting! Loving the art style. I’ll definitely keep an eye on this one.

  • cyberkinghardy

All are cutscenes and no gameplay. They said it’s 3D map, but what about the characters? Are they also in 3D like what they’ve shown on this video?

  • michel

Looks interesting, but in my opinion the pastel colored art and the dark 3D scenes don’t mix well. Valkirya Chronicles had a more coherent art direction.

    • DanielGearSolid

Yea the dark tone makes it look “ugly” for lack of a better term

  • Go2hell66

jeff is such a boring uncreative name lol

we got VASILISA, ANCA and… jeff…

    • HassanJamal

For the hero finally defeated the villain, all was good in the world. All thanks to epic hero named…..Jeff.

      • Kai2591

Then historians changed his named to make it more heroic lol.

      • FlyingPony

Imagine if the guy was named Bob… or Bobby.

    • JustThisOne

      Jeff, Geoff~
      Joseph, Giuseppe~

I wonder if they’ll change his name, if this were to get localized? xD

      • Thatguy
        • JustThisOne

:< I hope he remembers to equip the sword correctly.

        • Demeanor

What is this, friend? Could you enlighten me? Looks… interesting XD

          • Raze

            Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou

          • Thatguy

What Raze said. In English: Daily live of high school boys. It’s… quite funny.

          • FlyingPony

Its not a typical funny anime, I must say the jokes is very unique and some require a decent imagination to understand.

        • Vash bane

lol im going to have to check this anime out

          • you should, the show is like a hidden diamond, truly worth a look, especially the “literature girl” XD

    • Gekokujou

He can’t help if his parents weren’t cool enough to give him an awesome name.

    • AAa

Well at least, the name isnt weird like Hamil from Tears to Tiara 2, which means pregnant in Indonesian.

      • 40

To their credit, Hamill actually sounds pretty good in jp. Jepu on the other hand…

    • Warboss Aohd

at least it isn’t something stupid like say Vanilla or Lightning.

      • Actually it’s Vanille not ‘Vanilla.’

        • Warboss Aohd

i wasn’t referring to Vanille, Vanilla is the protagonist of Steambot Chronicles.

          He’s a great protagonist……..just has a stupid name.

          • My bad. Sorry.

          • Warboss Aohd

to be fair, i probably shouldn’t have put Vanilla’s name next to Lightning, hell the moment i posted it, i thought “People are gonna think i’m talking about Vanille aren’t they?”.

          • FlyingPony

You can put it this way to avoid confusion.

“at least it isn’t something stupid like say Vanilla (Steambot Chronicles) or Lightning (Final Fantasy).”

          • Warboss Aohd

yeah, probably should have done that.

    • HighBrowDrifter

How about…..Jeff the Killer….*shivers as the door makes an eerie noise*

    • I’ll just leave this… right here:

  • Kai2591

Warrior class main male protagonists are outdated.
Nowadays they should be brainy mage-types ;p

    • Guest

      Like Shiroe from Log Horizon?

      • Kai2591

        Haha exactly ;)

    • 하세요

But nobody wants to be all fragile as the main character. They wanna take hits, be up close in the fray, be a man!

    • FlyingPony

At least that guy have something to brag upon.

Put an incompetent, weak, whiny guy like Shinji Ikari from EVA and the players will get a problem with the character.

      • Kai2591

        oh please anything but that.

  • Christopher McNair

The fact taht this isn’t a worldwide release in March says so much about why Sony has money porblems. Total bull crap that the rest of the world can’t play this at the same time as Japan

  • I think that the artworks were more beautiful than the actual game.

  • Valtiel Ikari

I think I get it, naming the hero Jeff must be the greatest decision ever, just think about it, how many of us have a name we hate because it’s so boring? ( I know I don’t like mine)
So this dude, has a boring un-epic name, but he’s a hero, proving that you don’t need a great name to be a great man, so gamers can identify with him.

That or they just where lazy as hell XD

  • Arcana Wiz

I really liked the music, for whatever reason it activated all my nostalgia senses, and from what i saw (in others articles) it have similarities with Valkyria Chronicles so i’m really interested in this game.

  • That was a nice trailer. I hope they show us some of the gameplay soon as well.

  • Kioku

The CG graphics somehow reminded me of Star Ocean….

    • Arcana Wiz

Dang now you made me want a new Star ocean game… i really loved the series, the first and second ones are my preferred.

      • Kioku

I really don’t know why they stopped making the series…

  • Göran Isacson

Real nice intro, liked that everyone, girls included seemed to actually do something during the combat and didn’t just stand around and look pretty… that’s kind of depressingly common otherwise.

  • Justin Lock

They all have cool names, except “Jeff”.
