Imageepoch’s PSP RPGs Are On Sale On PSN In Japan

By Spencer . January 15, 2014 . 11:52pm

image Luminous Arc developer Imageepoch self-published three RPGs for PSP, but only Black Rock Shooter made it overseas. If you want to play Tale of the Last Promise or Sol Trigger you can get those games on the cheap. Each one of Imageepoch’s PSP RPGs are on sale for just 1,980 yen ($19) on PlayStation Network in Japan.

Cheaper than importing, but that doesn’t beat the price of Tale of the Last Promise on Amazon. A copy of the game without the Black Rock Shooter preview disc is just 230 yen ($2) on Amazon Japan.

  • Happy that we got Black Rock Shooter as it was a good game, but “Sigh” I really want Sol Trigger too.

    • Ric Vazquez

      I know that feel T.T

    • H.A.MK

there was a translation project for it that went up to %50, I think. The game is amazing and good story with 3 endings and good RPG battle system.

  • klkAlexar

Huh, so it was a bad game? I could understand if it was that cheap over here since the psp is dead, but I thought the psp and its games were still selling in Japan.

    • I didn’t think BRS was really a bad game at all. Different yes, but bad no. The story and gameplay were both quite enjoyable to me.

      • I think they’re referring to Saigo no Yakusoku no Monogatari, which has a 2.5 on Amazon and is only 230 yen (it’s just a single copy from a third-party seller, though).

I haven’t gotten around to playing it myself yet (though I recently picked up a copy for 500 yen — which is the going rate at the Book Offs), but my understanding is that, yes, it’s considered one of Imageepoch’s weaker games. Not sure why as it seems quite similar to Sol Trigger, which is alright.

In any case, it’s not unusual for games to drop that low in price in Japan. Anything that isn’t super popular is eventually gonna drop to 1000 yen, like BRS and Sol Trigger (yes, 2000 yen for a digital copy is not actually a good deal). Anything that’s particulary unwanted could drop to 500, like Saigo no Yakusoku no Monogatari and Last Ranker. Old versions of updated popular games seem to end up in the junk bin for 100-200 yen. You’ll find a lot of Phantasy Star and Monster Hunter there.

7th Dragon 2020 and its direct sequel are still sitting at 1500 and 2000 respectively, but that’s by far Imageepoch’s most successful franchise.

        • That’s the part that makes me so sad about the 7th Dragon 2020 series. It’s done so well that I had hoped they would try to bring it to other regions, but sadly they haven’t lol.

          • DyLaN

I hope Atlus will be doing something abt it since 7D2020 is publish by Sega and since Atlus is owned by Sega…. I mean, its more or less EO little cousin right?

          • That’s true lol. I forgot they are owned by Sega now. Perhaps there is hope =)

  • tubers

Wish they have the budget for a Sol Trigger VITA.

    • Ric Vazquez

May God and Imagepooch hear you

  • Ganali Castillo

Man, what I would give for Sol Trigger in English. Just the text to, don’t really care for voice actors.

    • michel

We must hope in a fan translation…

    • Ric Vazquez

      This exactly

  • Demeanor

Might pick up Sol Trigger for my Vita, this looks like a good chance!

  • Lazulis

holy moly, was tale of the last promise bad or something? $2?! man, if I was japanese literate, I’d jump on these, but alas…

  • Arcana Drill

*Sigh* i wanted to play imagepoch psp games, but only BRS was localized.

    • DyLaN

      Don’t forget Fate/Extra!

      • Arcana Drill

oh yeah, i wanted to play Fate/extra CCC so much! huge fate fan but cant play the “heaven feel” game.

        • DyLaN

Btw, the english scans of a manga adaptation of CCC called F/E CCC: Fox Tail is out. If it helps.

(Its not an exact adaptation of the game though. This one adds in removed elements frm the final product and characters that shouldn’t died so early in CCC is dead by second chapter)

          • Arcana Drill

This is interesting! thanks i’ll search for it ;D

  • MonoChrome

That girl from the Sol Trigger screenshot always reminded me of Nana from BRS: The Game. It would have been great to get Sol Trigger in English as well, but I’m not complaining since I’d rather have BRS: The Game ^^

  • Rodel Christopher Prado

Sol trigger!!!.sol trigger!!…every day i search like 5 times for an english translation or in heavens name ..a localization for this game..if aksys was able to localize mind 0 that does not look as good as sol trigger..why not localize sol trigger then??!!..vita or psp..anything will do.
