Strider Out This Month; Screenshots Show Off New Costumes

By Ishaan . February 5, 2014 . 8:20am

Capcom have announced a release date for the new Strider game being developed in collaboration with Double Helix.

Strider will be available in North America on February 18th for $14.99 on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. The PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions will be available on February 19th. Meanwhile, Europe will get the game on February 19th on all platforms for €14.99/£11.99.

Capcom also announced two new Challenge Modes for the game today. “Beacon Run” is a race-style mode that challenges you to hit consecutive checkpoints while taking enemies down in as short a time as possible. Meanwhile, “Survival Mode” is a test of combat skills with different loadouts as waves of progressively difficult enemies attack.

Both modes will have global leaderboards. Additionally, Capcom say you can unlock new costumes in the game by “uncovering the vestiges of Striders fallen in battle against Grand Master Meio’s evil empire”. You can view some of these below.

wonder to get on 360 or XB1.. and what would be the size difference.. I don’t like the current XB1 achievement icon images :P I like the little ones that were more creative..

If I recall correctly, it was said that PS4 ver. ran at 60fps while the PS3 ver. was locked at 30. I’d be surprised if the same wasn’t true for xbox 2/xbox 3.

yeah, seems like the lighting / effects and frame rates would get bumped up for next gen usually like AC4 BF.. just don’t want these games to hog the precious HDD space, all next gen games need big installs. Even for Murdered Soul Suspect, MG Ground Zeroes, or Watchdog, I’m still not sure to get for 360 or XB1.. I don’t know if the trophies for PS3/PS4 look the same, I don’t like the XB1 achievement pics :(

Still kind of disappointed that it’s not getting a physical release at all aside from the PS3 version in Japan, but regardless I’m looking forward to playing this when it’s out. Sometime down the road I might just have to buy the JPN PS3 version so I have an actual physical copy too.

If Strider 2 was on disc as well and not a code I’d import it. Hopefully it gets released on PSN here as well though.

*looks at my copy of Strider 1/2 for the PS1*
While I have the games or should I say games with the wrong print for each disc (brilliant work on that one Capcom) I hope it comes out on PSN in the West as well. I know a lot of people that want to play the Strider games, but can’t get their hands on a copy.

  • TheGunheart

So wait, the costumes are just palette swaps, not new meshes? Disappointing..

  • Learii

why the game so cheap? $14.99 there must be a caugh

    • pimpalicious

That’s a normal cost for a PSN game.

    • ZEROthefirst

      Digital only.

      • Learii

oh I tho is will be a disc game lol

        • ZEROthefirst

If you import the PS3 version from Japan you will get a physical copy, sadly that’s the only way right now.

  • Ric Vazquez

Digital only?Well, Capcom has budget issues after all…
