Casting Voice, Bandai Namco’s Voice Actor Game, Has A Mini Recording Studio In It

By Spencer . February 24, 2014 . 2:00am

Casting Voice is kind of like [email protected], but instead of producing pop songs you produce voiceovers. There’s a neat feature in the PlayStation 3 that lets players mix their own voices.

You need a USB microphone to use recording mode. After you record a voiceover you can change the volume, add reverb or an echo. Voiceovers can be saved as WAV files so you can put them on your computer. Players can also add their voices into scenes along side the pro voice actors you manage in Casting Voice so you can appear in the same show as them.

Casting Voice comes out on June 19 for PlayStation 3.

  • Are the user-inputted voice files to be used as part of the gameplay, or is it just a side-feature to play around with?

    • 永次

      Seems like a side-feature.

  • ArmoredBoar

I am so gonna play the hell out of this.

  • neocatzon

Expecting more details on this feature.

  • Shippoyasha

This is just like that super awkward voice recording episode of Watamote.

    • megaten666

The one where she made a voice actor say something like “I love you, you filthy pig.” or something along the lines and her mother (or someone else) discovered it?
      Priceless moment, imho :D

  • David García Abril

Actually, there’s a lot of potential for this!

They could even put a character editor so you can create your own voice actor/actress.

Unfortunately, this also complicates further a localization, specially if there is some kind of evaluation system for you performance.

    • 永次

This game will never be released outside Japan.

      • Renaldi Saputra

        that’s the truth

      • Firekitty

I’m holding out hope for a fan translation project…

  • Pyrofrost

I am really looking forward to seeing how [email protected] turns out. I hope it’s a success.

  • 永次

    I will pre-order this NOW.

  • Spirit Macardi

They could simply localize this as “Funimation: The Game,” and have it feature moe and bishie versions of people like Chris Sabat, Colleen Clinkenbeard, and Ian Sinclair x3

    • 永次

      I will have nightmares, thanks.

    • Renaldi Saputra

seems Bamco won’t do like that
      much texting
      much voice actor recruiting
yet almost no demand bcos games like this are taboo in western region

      • Spirit Macardi

I wasn’t being serious. I figured the fact I was joking around would be obvious.

      • Firekitty

What do you mean that games like this are ‘taboo’ in the West?

        • Renaldi Saputra

people aren’t familiar with this kind of game, unlike FPS, RPG, or another familiar genre

  • Dsvkb

I’m so conflicted whether to get this or not. I absolutely love the concept, but not knowing Japanese makes this seem like it’d be a lot of trouble to enjoy.

  • JustThisOne

I love this concept, and I wish there was some english shape or form, but I can’t imagine any way of localizing this. :3

Imagine all the fun voice clips you could use… *___*

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    this sounds awesome!
