  • Prinny Dood

That’s a lot dood! Now the question is when will we in the western part of the netherworld get it dood!

    • Tenabrus

due to the widespread of all the licenses in America this game will probably never be localized, might as well import.

      • Prinny Dood

        Ack! Im finished ><

        • Why not import dood? It would probaly be cheapter anyway.

          • Prinny Dood

I just wanna wait and see if they localize it first dood! If not, I’ll have no choice but to import dood!

          • Renaldi Saputra

no chance at all, even with the good number of petition, too much licensing

        • Nanaki

Are you sure Etna approves of all this?

      • KyoyaHibari

Well with Project X Zone coming overseas, there’s still a faint chance; granted, those were video game licenses most of which have seen the light in the West. I’m still fixated on pre-ordering ASAP and not waiting, but I’ll definitely nab a domestic copy if that slim chance becomes a reality.

        • Renaldi Saputra

note that project x zone’s characters are mostly from game, not anime or manga series. Bamco need to do licensing from Shueisha according to these J-Stars characters, and with that bunch of characters, it will be just impossible. Licensing from Shueisha isn’t that simple and cheap.. Licensing an anime/manga is much expensive than game

      • Lies. The licenses are spread like so:

Manga: Viz. (they’re the only ones allowed to license Shueisha series)
Anime: Viz, FUNi, Sentai, Aniplex (a small enough group to work something out)

        It wouldn’t be that difficult.

        • Renaldi Saputra

is that so? did all the series was handled by viz or any that you said above? I think there’s some characters from not-localized series

          • There are several series that haven’t come over in any form. That said, I’d think they’d just negotiate with the parties in Japan over those.

          • Renaldi Saputra

then, still, it isn’t that easy. Bamco are the one who don’t want to take risks. If they localize something, they tend to make a contract with the series (like naruto dragon ball one piece IIRC) for several years duration. And making contract isn’t that simple also, need a high budget

    • hazelnut1112

      Just like JSS/JUS, I would say never…

  • Learii

    that one long trailer

  • Muffum

Eventually we’ll get to the point where Joseph is predicting Gintoki’s next line, which is predicting Joseph’s next line, which is predicting Gintoki’s next line…

  • Cheesy04

I wish there were Shaman King characters but this is awesome!!!

    • KnifeAndFork

I wish people would stop whining about Shaman King…

  • Lol, 50+ characters. I mean might as well just say 52 characters.

    • Slayven19

They should have said 50+2 just to be funny.

    • Herok♞

Chances are there are some secret characters.

      • megaten666

In this day and age, there are no such thing in gaming industry as “secret characters”. Nowadays, it’s called DLC.

        • Twain Speaks

Smash Brothers still does secret character.

        • Herok♞

That’s certainly a pessimistic view, we already know smash will have secret characters, and I recall ultimate stars had some as well

          • megaten666

This is a game where the character itself sells the game. If there’ll be a secret character in this game like… ever, it’ll be a character from a series already presented in this game (for example Kuchiki Byakuya from BLEACH or Gemini Saga from Saint Seiya, not Yugi Mutou or Yagami Light).
Strangely, this is a game where developing more characters for DLC would actually make sense (and money) but Namco Bandai decided to not milking the cow this time. Honestly, I’d rather buy a pricey Kuchiki Byakuya character, than a pricey costume for Tales of Xillia.
Bamco and its reasoning at its finest :/

  • Afternoon Intergalactic

Gintoki using the Kamehameha. They really are playing off of that “he doesn’t have a special move” bit.

    • TheGioG

Oh please, all of the special moves in this game clearly belong to Gintoki… Can’t say I blame these guys for copying from anyone less than the best.

    • No Items Ever

Well that’s actually a reference to the series. It’s been one of his dreams to be able to do the Kamehameha, to a point where he would practice in secret to try to master it.

He also has the “Thigh Burst” move which was “given” to him by Touyako, Gintoki’s sword in a total reference to Bleach. You can see him use it during some of the trailers.

      • Afternoon Intergalactic

I’m aware of this, but I didn’t think Gin’s complaints about his lack of a signature move would actually be real. I personally prefer the thigh burst (with it’s gurgling/rippling noises)

        • No Items Ever

Yea, it’s honestly the main reason they can’t actually make a proper fighting game because of it. Even in Jump Ultimate his moves were really strange and referenced some big scenes, but can’t be considered an signature move.

But, looking at the video again (I watched with a friend who knew Japanese) I noticed a lot more references to the show. Aside from Shinpachi doing his usual straight man routine (He makes comments in the big text bubbles with the glasses representing him), Gintoki is also using his Soy Sauce Bouken sword from the Android arc (he squirts out soy sauce from it during the video at 5:18). Even Shinpachi comments on why he’s using it in the first place. xD

So even if Gintoki doesn’t have his own signature technique, the game is a love letter to all jokes and references we love from Gintama, and that beats out any Rasengan or Spirit Gun in my book.

  • Dexward

Haha! The characters voiced by Mayumi are beating each other up. Then there’s Sugita having the characters he voices speak with each other.

It’s kinda weird not having Fumihiko voice Raoh since he’s the voice used in Hokuto Musou and Mayumi and Sugita have two characters they’re voicing as well as Katsuyuki, who is voicing Kenshiro and Oga. Because of that the one voicing Raoh in this game, Tessho, is also voicing two characters, the other being Young Toguro.

    • KyoyaHibari

Yeah I quite liked Fumihiko as Raoh, really made him in the games.

  • HerosLight

I’m pleased with the current playable character roster except Kumagawa being assist.

Everything else is fine and gameplays look very combo-ish and slightly fast paced.

I would import it, but will have to wait on people’s opinions on it.

  • KyoyaHibari

Still baffled at how Luckyman and Taro got in as opposed to some other bigger names but oh well. Here’s to hoping for more characters through DLC or an update potentially (it would be more desirable than Gundam Extreme VS DLC given all the successive iterations). My teams would probably go something like this:
Bobobo & Jonathan + Kenshiro (Fist of the North Star and it’s parodies) or reversed with Kenshiro & Jonathan + Bobobo (Closest thing to Fist in descending order). Or even all parodies with Jonathan & Joseph + Bobobo.
Gon & Luffy + Toriko (Ambitious Adventurers).
Kenshin & Gintoki + Momotaro (Old Fashioned Swordsmen).
Then something with Yusuke and also Jaguar and maybe Koro (perhaps seperate though).

  • Guest

Holy crap they acknowledge each other in the dialogue!!

EDIT Ah, it seems to only be for the commercial

    • Hentailover

Erm, it was revealed in magazines that characters have unique lines when speaking to each other…

  • cyberkinghardy

    52 characters yet only 39 are playable. Boo-Hoo. I pre-ordered it anyway.

  • MaskedHero99

They say each others names ..thats so epic

  • axelrod

Gahh, I wish I knew what they were saying to each other. To me, one of the best things about crossover games is listening to the unique crossover dialogue. Even if I import it like everyone’s saying to do, I still wont fully understand… Ah well, I’m still gonna buy it.

    • Renaldi Saputra

usually fighting games don’t need to understand whole japanese

  • MaskedHero99

Luffy is obviously the main character of this game

  • I’m not going to watch the video. I’m already hyped up enough for a game I doubt I’ll ever play as it is. I’m not going to watch the video. I’m not going to watch the video. I’m not……….oh, who am I kidding? *watches video and drools*

  • fairysun

I am debating of pre-ordering the Anison version(the one with original ost). Does anyone know is it worth for the OST? Does anyone know the list of the songs?

    • Rayhan PromisedGallery

you know… you can just play the MP3 from your phone when playing the game.
      Problem solved

      • Nice Boat Quatro

        Sokabasu? Why not Heart of the Sword? ;_;

      • Will John

dang why Happy Crazy Box instead of OP2?

  • I think I’ll be fine importing this, but the lack of Sean Schemmel for Goku is going to be a problem.

  • RegReach

    What about Ruby from RWBY?

    • FutureLambo

      RWBY is not Shonen.

    • Will John

What about Spongebob from Spongebob Squarepants?

      • 하세요

What about Earth from that movie Earth?

  • konsama

  • Bobby Jennings

    Can’t wait until next week.

  • Dingus

Man, I’m not surprised Kuwabara didn’t get in since he’s such a Western-themed character, but still. Oh well, maybe for the next one in another 15 years.

  • eilegz

im going to wait for review on this one, after the disappointing dragon ball battle of Z, i dont know.

    • leingod

Ugh, don’t remind me. That really was a dissapointment :/

  • [S]unjay

Tsuna looks so awesome, Tsuna makes this worth a buy.

  • leingod

I’m kinda surprised there’s only one Saint Seiya character present :O
