Typical Tidus: drops into a world that doesn’t care about him, escorts most important person in the world who’s on a quest to save everyone, and calls it ‘his story’.

    • Shade DMessiah

I hope this is a joke. Not because i disagree, (Havent played it yet) but because seeing stuff like this makes me not like characters. I mean, i really don’t think Tidus does that in the exact way you said it but, from slight spoilers from well, everywhere, i’m thinking it’s true.

    • Daniel Bui

To be fair, if it wasn’t for him, the world wouldn’t have been saved. So, yeah, it kinda was ‘his story.’

      • Jungo

To be more fair, at the time he’s saying it’s ‘his story’ he hasn’t saved diddly-squat. By the time he does, he starts calling it ‘our story.’

        • Daniel Bui

Well we can blame Auron for that, since he was the one who said to Tidus “This is your story.”

          • Jungo

Friggin’ Auron, inflating the kid’s ego like that.

        • Altumn

Thats the point of the game though. I don’t think people understand what character development is. He was a self-centered star, then lost it all. Thats why he called it his story, then Yuna helped him realize the whole quest wasn’t just about him.

          • Ultimaniacx4

Not understanding character arcs and plotlines leads to a lot of unnecessary hate on these games these days.

    • It’s really Jecht’s show.

Not really but hey. More Jecht is necessary.

    • Longshadow

That’s a little semantic, wouldn’t you agree? He calls it “his story” because he’s telling it from his point of view. Yuna is the star, but he is still the narrator.

By way of comparison, our parents played a pivotal role in our childhoods (for better or worse) by giving us shelter and protection, but we nevertheless may certainly claim at least an equal stake in its ownership.

But you said it well: He begins to say “our story” once he realizes that he’s apart of a situation larger than himself.

    “Almost here…almost here…”
*Jecht’s voice whispers in ear* “Gonna cry?”
