Ragnarok Odyssey Ace Has The Tales, DOA5, And Other Crossover DLC In The West

By Spencer . March 17, 2014 . 1:20am

GungHo Online Entertainment announced a slew of crossover costumes for Ragnarok Odyssey Ace’s launch in Japan. When bringing a game overseas, crossover items can be lost because licensing agreements vary from region to region.

The good news is Ragnarok Odyssey Ace will have almost all of the crossover downloadable content. Siliconera confirmed with Xseed that the Tales of Symphonia Chronicles (shown here), Soul Sacrifice (shown here), Gravity Rush (shown here), Dead or Alive 5, and Akiba’s Trip 2 equipment will be in the game. All of the crossover content will be released for free too. The Grandia downloadable content (pictured above) will be available as day one DLC. The only thing Xseed was not able to get was the Grandia voice DLC.

Ragnarok Odyssey Ace will be released for PlayStation Vita and also on PlayStation 3. The game supports cross-play and cross-save. Purchased downloadable content supports cross-buy, but the game itself is not a cross-buy title. Xseed explained the graphics have been tweaked a bit for the PlayStation 3 version and the interface has been rearranged to fit the screen too since there are no touch screen features. Content wise, both games are the same.

Ragnarok Odyssey Ace comes out on April 1 in North America. GungHo Online Entertainment America is handling the European release.

the justin and Feena Costumes bring the biggest smile to my face. Grandia is still my favorite game.

    • Their music should be added to the game along with the Costumes. Grandia needs a GRAND representation, after all!

    • Eilanzer

FF6 is my favorite game BUT…Grandia 1 still are the most nostalgic game for me, damn that game have a heart!

  • DanielGearSolid

    Gotta wear Lloyds costume…
If only it came with a functional rheaird

Too bad servers for online play are region locked. |:

So, I’m gonna be importing it to play with my bros in Americaland.

  • Леонид Родин

I would love to play as Hayabusa, but there is no way I can download those DLCs in Europe=( That’s why I will pass on this game.

    Grandia remake now!
its been a while since GameArts did something so why not?

    • Eilanzer

      after grandia 3…please no…not all games need a remake…
unlike many fans, i don´t think games like grandia, ffVII/VI, chrono trigger and etc need one…let them live like great games, and not die by today casual standard and moneymilk lightning¹²³

      • Jan Daryll Palanca

Game Arts did an awesome job remaking the lunar series on multiple systems (Sega CD, Saturn, PlayStation and on the PSP) the first game just needs a refresher like improving the frame rate of the overall game, enhancing the graphics a bit (adding more pixels and unique animations to the 2D sprites , sharpen up the 3D environments etc..)
Adding more set of skills for feena, add a new character, increase difficulty level…. I can go on and on about this!

        • Eilanzer

I hated the remake for psp, the old music was much better (saturn and complete version)…The epilogue add was ok, but they add stupid generic stuff from final fantasy to the combat =/

          • Sigfried Silverblade

I’d like some remakes mostly so the games can be played by new people.

Of course, since Grandia is avaiable on PSN as a PSOne Classic, it does not NEED a remake. But i could be something GOOD.

          • Jan Daryll Palanca

It was co-developed by Gungho so that comes to no surprise.. still it was a decent remake, and I enjoyed it! The battles were fun and much improved than its predecessors (no offense if there’s any) the updated sprites looks gorgeous! It was a good remake as far as fun factor goes. My only problem with it was the town designs ,music/soundtrack and the opening music! I know working designs did the opening lyrics but who knows, Xseed could’ve ask them for it.

I never played this seriea before, but I keep hearing about it. Is it a action jrpg? Is it long? Do you guys recommend it for someone who likes action jrpgs? What system would this be best on vita or ps3 I have both.

Edit. Derp. I feel like an idiot. This game is a monst3r hunter style it seems. Even better.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Grandia oh how I missed you

  • Dark Lord Ash

Time to flex them pecs. Having spent my time playing Hong Kong version I’ll use what I learned to aid my fellow western bros.

    • mockturtle

      Well how you doin…

  • nonscpo

So is this free dlc like the other monster hunter games, pre order exclusive, time exclusive?

    • doubleO7

      2nd paragraph:
“All of the crossover content will be released for free too. The Grandia downloadable content (pictured above) will be available as day one DLC.”

      • nonscpo

See I want to believe that but theres different websites saying different things, some are written implying that DLC is paid or that youve had to own the previous version to get it free for ACE.

  • XiaomuArisu

    Justin and Feena~
    Good times~

  • Learii

can I transfer my Ragnarok Odyssey data to Ragnarok Oyssey Ace ps3 version without cross-save?

  • Rafael Budzinski

…Grandia. Fuck, now I just have to buy this game.

  • Slayven19

All of this is free huh? I like that although they have to be losing money by doing this. Its not like this game is going to sell all that well sadly. I hope I’m wrong since I’ll need people to play online with.

  • Vyse Legendaire

It’s going to be fun playing Justin + Kasumi Odyssey with all of the edited/hacked uber-save datas from the game saves on PS3 :)

  • ishyg

Damn it, I am currently playing Grandia (PS1 Classics) since I wasn’t able to finish it before, and then this article…just sold me Ragnarok Odyssey Ace. Can’t resist.

  • soulz

They need to just do away with the cross-buy system because many companies are not going to just give a game away for free. Honestly i don’t blame them.

  • Raltrios

    Based Xseed pulls through again.

  • Vash bane

so only difference is resolution? XD iono tho I’ve gotten into the habit of playing the vita more than any system I own nowdays. while at the same time…..screw it i’m going to play it on the same system as the original XD

    useless comment lol
