You Have 13 Days To Save The World In Lost Dimension

By Sato . April 18, 2014 . 2:01pm

We recently got a first look at Lost Dimension, an upcoming game that will have you saving the world from destruction, which looks like it was inspired by Shin Megami Tensei IV. 4Gamer shares the latest on the game, with more details on the mysterious pillar and the terrorist that threatens the world.

In Lost Dimension, you’ll be playing as the protagonist, Sho Kasugai, a young man with a special ability that allows him to foresee events before they happen. He and other members with various abilities are part of a special group that was put together by the United Nations, called S.E.A.L.E.D., to stop an evil menace, known as “The End”.

007 005

After a mysterious giant pillar appeared out of nowhere in the middle of New York City, the group were sent to investigate it. However, it is said that as they advance their way up the pillar, one member will be “erased”.

One more thing—there will be a traitor amongst the group of S.E.A.L.E.D., and it will vary who exactly, as you play through the game, leaving room for a thrilling development, which will likely change according to choices you make.

008 003

The End is an international terrorist, who suddenly appears inside the Pillar, and is said to be the reason the world will be ending in 13 days. As previously mentioned, The End considers his fight against S.E.A.L.E.D. as a simple game. Furthermore, here’s what he had to say:

“If you want to save the world, then kill me. You can find me at the top floor of the pillar.

In order to climb this pillar, you’ll be required to sacrifice a ‘psychic’.

Now, kill each other, and come climb the pillar!”

009 011

It’ll be up to Sho Kasugai and his gift of “vision,” alongside telepathic Yoko Tachibana, and other members of S.E.A.L.E.D. to stop The End from destroying the world, but who might end up being the traitor in your group?

Lost Dimension will be released on August 7, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

    Lightning Returns – XIII?

    • artemisthemp

Hopefully without the real time restriction

      • Kornelious

        Yeah that was annoying X(

        • Demeanor

Personally I really liked it :D it kept you on your toes at *** all *** times, yet the game also gave you enough freedom to “cheat” out of it with Chronostasis.
I had little trouble taking care of everything time-wise on a 1st Normal playthru, so I think it’s pretty fair overall.
God, I loved that game! Truly deserving of the title of FF imho, couldn’t tear myself from it until the Platinum.

    • MrTyrant

      Yeah but with better narrative.

      • Kumiko Akimoto

        I doubt that

        • MrTyrant

Is not hard to do it anyway and SMT team is a plus that I really trust.

          • Kumiko Akimoto

I don’t know about that and the whole 13 days to save the world thing is at turn off, It’s the exact same feeling I got when I first heard lighnting returns was doing it.
Though I don’t really care if they story turns out decent or not as long as the gameplay is enjoyable.I’ll just set my exceptions low and hope for decent gameplay.

          • MrTyrant

Even if the gameplay is good It would be a completly turn off if the story is horrible.

          • Kumiko Akimoto

Not for me, I can go into a series blind just for the gameplay.

          • Herok♞

Its not the SMT team, it was inspired by them, huge difference. So the narrative could easily be underwhelming.

          • Kumiko Akimoto

Even if it was them, it’s not like smt doesn’t suffer from “That story had good character development and stuff”

    • FlameEmperor

      Was thinking the same thing.

  • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

I nearly forgot about this one. Awesome.

    S.E.A.L.E.D. – S.H.I.E.L.D – no correlation.

    • revenent hell

S.H.I.E.L.D sucks . I know this is spammish but I cant help myself.. Its an awful show. Well at least to me its horrid.

      • God

Maybe the live action show does, but the quality of S.H.I.E.L.D. as an organization is not related to that…

        • revenent hell

I know but the commercial for the show was airing when I read this so it was hard not to think of it at that moment.

      • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

I don’t watch the show. I have no desire to after the first few episodes. However, I love S.H.I.E.L.D. in the movies though. Captain America 2 was awesome.

        • revenent hell

I have critiques but overall I thought it was well done and good myself. I’m kind of old and grew up with the Marvel comics and such so I can be hard on the movies and things but that show kills a piece of my soul every time I see anything about it on TV.

      • straightthrucru

I can’t help myself, either. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is actually pretty decent if you stuck around. I find that the people who felt “let down” by the show really went in with a weird mindset, like they were gonna get a full-blown cinematic experience or something.

        • revenent hell

Oh, no I never think that when it comes to a TV series. I just kind of felt let down with the actors. I don’t find them to be overly good really and I did expect a bit more in that regard.

For me I kind of feel like they could have grabbed any random person off of the street and they would have acted better. Or maybe some fans ( I honestly think fans of S.H..E.I.L.D would have acted the parts so much better).

That’s my nitpick. People may disagree and some of the actors are good but for the majority of them I just wasn’t terribly impressed.

  • I like where this is going. It already sounds like it has replay value due to the choices you make, and which will also determine who the traitor is. I wonder if the ending will differ to because of this as well.

    • God

I really hope you can make the protagonist into the traitor… That would lead not only to some differences on the ending, but a completely new ending altogether.

    • Dianatos

      Schrödinger’s Cat much?

    • Ric Vazquez

      Agreed, this looks promising.

  • klkAlexar

Reminds me more of Devil Survivor than SMTIV storywise. I’m a bit perplexed as to why the two main protagonist are Japanese when the game is set in NY. I mean what are the odds?

  • Malon

Wow, do we have a tragic scenario where an important member is going to be killed ?
I’m definitely looking forward to this. :D

  • Roberto

    i heard that before

  • revenent hell

I like the details of the game really. It sound like a bunch of SMT games to be honest but ones I really enjoyed .
It’ll be a shame if this doesn’t get localized but there is Mind Zero coming out so who knows?
Also it has MATERIA . Insta buy. I don’t care if its not FFVII materia its still MATERIA damn it!
    Thanks for this report Sato!

  • God

The main guy seems like it’s gonna be a Shulk, just that without the godliness, the baddas time warping sword that can kill ANYTHING, and the british accent.

  • Jettythesunfish

Is The End a sniper too?

  • Kaetsu

I hope the timer for the 13 days works more like Devil Survivor than a real time clock like Majora’s Mask and LRFFXIII.

  • RagingTiger44

Now where have I heard this premise before?

  • TheAnswerisback

Senritsu no stratus for psp had a counter that showed how many people on earth was left till it was destroyed this sounds like that

  • Vinny hawj

    hhmmm. 13 days? Lightning return
    mysterious giant pillar? DMC 3
    Sound awesome.

  • ThatGuy3190_7

    Inb4 localization please.

  • Awrans

A group, unknown place, a few days to survive, all your friends around you but the survival instinct will turn them to foes, a beatiful girl get killed just to show how serious the situation is, charming villain , a traitor one, scrifices and a cold end with a huge sense of cliche etc…
    Enough seriously >_>

  • Lumi

I remember last thread someone mentioned something about dying of old age, i guess that can’t happen in this one

  • Kornelious

Looking pretty good. The who “Traitor depends on your actions” is a pretty neat twist, though the 13 days worries me because it reminds me of one game I don’t like to think about…….

    • MrTyrant

Lets have hope here at least this 13 days are related to a terrorist that could be searching something else here. At least we have a probably good antagonist, something important for my tastes.

and the traitor depending on my actions seems cool…now I hope is not the waifu you want to protect D:

      • darke

Or that the ‘days’ are really just ‘chapters’, where it doesn’t roll over the date until story events take place so you don’t spend the whole time micromanaging your schedule like P4G or the Atelier games. (Thankfully the Dusk series seems a little more lenient at this.)

        • MrTyrant

True that. Maybe 13 chapters on game and probably one epilogue or something.

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

Is the international terrorist also 17-years-old?

    • Slayven19

No they are elementary school students.

  • James Enk

    on paper this looks great

  • Neffy L

It’s ok, I won’t play it for the story anyway. Pretty much any jrpg that isn’t called ”Eiyuu Densetsu,” is gonna have a cliche and lazily thought out story. Something about religion, godslaying and whatnot. So gameplay all the way!

  • Ni ~Algidus~

the cliches are a little to high

  • DarkLight

    Plot twist-Your the traitor!

  • ChristyKf9

Shin Megami Tensei IV+Lightning Returns FFXIII+ Blue Blaze (the white haired guy is a total ripoff of Ragna)=The World In Lost Dimension

  • 13 days again, is that some religious reference or something

    • Nope. 13 is just unlucky lol

    • Anthony Birken

There is one I could think of, but I don’t think it would have any reference to this game at all.

  • GuntankIsBestTank

“which looks like it was inspired by Shin Megami Tensei IV.”
It’s made by the guys behind Etrian Odyssey I and II, I doubt they need to take inspiration from SMTIV.
