Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed Coming To PlayStation 4 With Upgraded Graphics

By Spencer . April 21, 2014 . 2:40am

Acquire is bringing Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed (aka Akiba’s Trip 2 in Japan) to PlayStation 4. Famitsu reports the PlayStation 4 game will make use of the console’s sharing feature and have improved graphics.

The PlayStation 4 version will have faster load times and is able to show more characters walking around Akihabara than the PS3 or Vita release. First print copies also include a code that gives the heroines in Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed different costumes.

Xseed will publish Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed in North America, but so far the game has only been announced for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Check our previous coverage for more about Akiba’s Trip and the landmarks/cameos you’ll see in the game.

Ok guys, you know what to do – we need to make the western release a success to get the PS4 version. Now make me proud.

    • Herok♞

That’s a scary strategy buy a game so you can get the better version

      • Crazy_O

Well I planned to buy the vita version so…
and maybe for the PS3 there is an option to upgrade it like other games to the PS4 version.

        • Anime10121

I’d feel better about buying the PS3 version if it was upgradeable for 10 bucks like some of the earlier titles!

      • mockturtle

Scary? Yes. Stupid? Yes. Effective? For better or worse, also yes.

        I’m rather conflicted myself.

    • katamari damacy

You could also buy 20 copies for yourself to help the cause. Go get ’em tiger!

  • TrueDefault

Faster load times? Oww… now I feel unsure about buying the Ps3 version.

    • Load times don’t really bother me all that much, but the upgraded graphics and more NPC characters walking around are the selling point for me.

      • TrueDefault

Yeah, maybe it has better framerates too!

Heh, guess we’re not getting it then. At least we get it at all, still pleased with that.

  • I’m a bit torn by this. I already have the game on pre-order for PS3, but if it’s just going to come out anyway for PS4 then I’m not sure what to do. I would love to pick it up and help out with the sales, but I kinda don’t wanna buy the game again especially if the game is exactly the same content wise. I know nothing is set in stone that it is coming out for both consoles in the West, but I would want to play it in best quality as possible if so.

    • VietKnight

If it gets announced to be localized just move the preorder to the PS4 version, that is what I am going to do.

      • Yes, but what if it really does come out after the PS3 version is already released lol

    • nonscpo

If you have a vita pick it up for gaming on the go, that way when the PS4 version comes out you’ll have the definitive version.

  • Thatguy

    Talk about unexpected development…

    Well, gimme! :D

  • I dont like the new outfit for the girls…

    • DyLaN

The “new” outfits are just palette swap lol. Well some of them are not bad I guess…

  • tturtlejosh

Gonna hold on and wait if this gets localized

  • revenent hell

Im sure Xseed will announce shortly if they will release this version or not…. Though I kind of have a suspicion they wont or if they do it wont be for a good while until its released.

    • KnifeAndFork

XSEED already responded saying this wasn’t in their originally agreement (duh), but they are looking into it…

  • Bad timing for XSEED, if they don’t pick up this version. Many who own a PS4 will likely rather get this version instead and now lower sales for them.

    Still getting it for Vita.

    • nonscpo

Agreed it was a bad move by Aquire, they should have waited till after the game was realesed before anouncing this game.

    • Daniel blue

“Many who own a PS4 will likely rather get this version instead and now lower sales for them.”

There are still enough PS3 players out there (over 80 million!) to make up for the VERY FEW people who would prefer to import the PS4 version from Japan.

  • Kornelious

…..It’s Toukiden Extreme all over again :(
EXCEPT Toukiden was already released! So if they time the release of the PS4 version right and localize it then we could end up getting all three versions! I’ll have a PS4 at that point so I’ll probally get the Vita and PS4 version so let hope for the best :D

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

I already pre-order for PS3 . I don’t thing the super HD version will hit state side anyway

  • KnifeAndFork

Not only are the PS4 screenshots not full HD or full resolution, but the character models, lighting don’t look like that much of an improvement considering the PS3 is ten times as powerful as a PS3…

    • s07195

Where is this PS3 that is purportedly 10 times better than any PS3? I must have it!

  • Hexodious

That doesn’t change my preorder, still getting it for my Vita. Unless the PS4 got some critical stuff being add-on, I don’t see myself buying it for my PS4.

    • Eder García

if the game will have Vita-PS4 compatibility? i don’t have those consoles but i see that possibility tempting

  • Yan Zhao

How “improved” are the graphics? Because frankly the PS3 version is hardly using 10% of the PS3’s power it seems. I bet the PS4 version will barely look PS3-gen.

  • Ben Jammin Hobson

I presume by the time its localized this will be out so will it not be a simultaneous release on all platforms for the west?

  • OrangeArmy

Now I’m torn, do I wait for an announcement for a PS4 version localization that may or may not happen, or do I keep my Vita pre-order? Dilemmas like these are how Batman villains are made, you know.

    • Anime10121

Ikr, I’m not a fan of buying the same game twice! Although, I’m scared to “not” purchase the ps3 version, because if it doesnt sell well, they probably wont bring the PS4 version and the physical PS3 version will be expensive then :/

      ARGH the dilemna :(

  • Earthjolly

Still staying with my Vita version. Not the type of game I would play on a big screen

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

To be fair it’s much more light than something like Gal*Gun. The moaning in that game… *shivers*

  • Kotori Itsuka

    PS4, huh…..Well, If you’ll excuse me, I’m off to rob a bank

    • Loli Summoner

Why don’t you just rob gamestop?

      • Kotori Itsuka

I get more money from robbing a bank? F-it, I’ll rob both

  • It’s not surprising because Akiba’s Trip Plus happened, but it still sucks. I was afraid this was going to happen. It’s a shitty move by Acquire to announce this right after XSEED announced the PS3/Vita versions.

I want to buy the game. I want to support XSEED, but I can’t bring myself to do it when I know a definitive version of the game exists. Of course the chances of this version being localized might drop if the PS3/Vita games don’t sell well. It screws over the consumer who has to double dip and XSEED who might lose out on potential sales for people who want the PS4 version.

  • WhyWai

Wow.. can’t believe this franchise is this huge.. LoL.. can’t wait to play it on my Vita.

  • s07195

    So, 2P colors? 0_0

  • If the PS4 one comes out in English I may get it as they’re doing the vita/ps3 version, I have the Japanese version not played much though =[

  • Xerain

Guess this pushes me towards getting the vita version. Not that I have a PS4 as there’s no games for it…. but if this came out here that would change…

  • Kai2591

    Well, I guess I should buy a PS4 now….LOL.

Seriously though, I’d get the PS4 version, but we’re still not sure if we’ll even get that version localized…
